Commuted on the LIRR back when these fine machines hauled the coaches with commuters to and from the City. I loved the sound of their engine and that distinctive whining sound. That sound meant to me an always faithful and reliable ride home. I never knew them to fail in any type of weather or cold.
There's been a few occasions where I've walked alongside some train tracks and came across locomotives that were in the process of starting up like this. Being so close to such a large and powerful machine when it does, almost gives you goosebumps. Very similar to having some of your favorite songs on at max volume. 💯
I've never been interested in trains. I kept seeing this train simulator game over the years and eventually it was on sale for next to nothing so I got it and now I cant find enough train videos.
@@samwithers3094 You can probably give a subscription to a RR magazine, look up some local time tables or stuff for your local RR, or check out the locomotive wikia for engine stuff
@Bro wake up It’s 2006 When 2019 or 2020 came out and nothing new was added with people complaining their defense was "oh we added 64 bit support" All that means is they just recompiled the game for 64 bit. Means nothing much. Not to mention the bugs that have been in the game since 2008
Some of us have been railfans from our earliest memories, others don't get bit by the bug till much later. Either way welcome to the railfan community. Talking to other train watchers at railfan parks is a good way to learn also the comments section or live stream chats of which there are many. I have a live stream although it seems to be difficult to find for some reason. Stupid RUclips algorithm lol.
Awesome video, freight trains are my favorite, but did you know at some railyards there's a vehicle more massive and more tuffer than a freight train that moves the railcars around in a certain order instead of having to keep hooking and unhooking using a freight train engine car?
@@wfvideos4099 oh neat cuz tbh I love both of the engine sound tho I feel like it fits the F units more but it dose go good with a GP unit to thanks for the info
@@ntekniklaus3710 No, the F units had EMD's 16-567 series engine. The GP38' and 40's use the 16-645 series engine which is a larger displacement engine.
thank god it uploaded with sound this time
It's not sound, it's art. 👍
How do you zoom in your sound ? that was interesting.
@@ltpenniss6691 the S20 had a zoom in mic. beyond me how it worked, but that phones written off and all new videos now use the iphone 13 pro max
@@ntekniklaus3710 Hmm I switched from Note 9 to 13 Pro Max a few weeks ago. Not convinced yet.

God nothing beats the sound of emd roaring to life. Such a powerful sound

That’s got to be the smoothest start up I’ve seen. All the others I’ve watched were a bit choppy but before finishing going.
Love the sound of those EMD 645 V16 diesel prime movers!!!!
Need more videos like this. EMD's engine is a music to my ears
This locomotive makes some really cool sounds
I love all my favorite diesel locomotive sounds! The engine, the bell and the horn.
The sound of 10,000+ horsepower ❤
WHY are trains so fascinating to see????
0:44 gives you a perspective on how big these engines really are
Im disappointed, no half an hour magical rituals performed in smoke cover, casting spells, weird noises etc - it just started on fist turn...
Stop being a crybaby waah
Its easy. All it takes is a sacrifice to the machine God beforehand.
Nice find! And thanks to the engineer for letting you film the startup. I love those big EMD's.

Ah dude, I went into this stuff quite similar. Definitely check out Trainz 2019 or Run8 for some real trains, the Dovetail games aren't the best haha.
I've always been fascinated but never known where to start with learning about them, can anyone help?

It has the DASH 2 electronics system, full length fuel tank, dynamic braking, and Blomberg M trucks. That makes it a full package model.
hearing the sound of the 645E is very nice. No turbocharger, just the sound of pure diesel
Not so nice when your head in there starting it I almost go deaf on a daily basis I love my job but that part suck's
Those GP38-2s start up very fast
I like the way the loco said goodbye.
I remember seeing some of these engines in Norfolk VA at Wards Corner coming out of the NIT; also Lambert's Point, rolling through Ghent.
Ah Simpson Yard, a familiar place I like to visit! Nice video!
I thought it was ideal to let the locomotive engine idle for five minutes before taking off.
I like the service of this sound of this time.
Beautiful bro,just marvelous
Love that sound. So satisfying 💪🏿
Now that is nice sounding.
Love the fast idle!
Why did Dovetail games actually manage to get a CSX GP38-2 to start up correctly in TSW?

Wow it started in just 2 sec? Must have been a warm start. Cold start takes around 10 sec cranking?
Don't they use elliptical springs on those Blomberg trucks anymore.
sounds like a 645 roots blown?????
wonderful footage, like :)
0:31 starter sound
Jeez, look how massive 9860 and 9589 are compared to 5144
Your volume goes up when you zoom in???
Very nicely done sir! Subscribed.
This locomotive has a Dual Air Brake System
Hmmm, similar to a pre flight in aviation . . . .
Why does the volume turn up when you zoom in haha

where is the driver's toilet ?
in the nose, usually if they even have it on the GPs

simpson yard in jacksonville

Hi
It's not like driving a Truck. Operating a train is about ten times more serious..
Non turbo?
GP38's are roots blown. No turbo's.
