God I miss Odyssey. Most fun I've had in League in the 10 years I played on it. Hope this new upcoming PvE brings back the same vibes.

Black Market Brawlers was 2015, still my favourite event to date. Also Doombots was last available in 2016.

Remember the odyssey event? When it was extended for a whole month at the request of the players? Remember how much everyone loved it?
Remember that after half a year after odyssey event. Rito said that no one liked PvE game-modes and that's why they won't make them?
They read data in such a terrible way.
People played it less and less as time went on - as it should be expected.
But riot looked at it and thought "people play it less -> so it is bad", ignoring the numbers it had the rest of it's run

@@E_D___ They for sure don't ignore numbers, you guys just pull numbers out of your ass, look just at winrates etc., while most of this doesn't really matter if you have other factors to test for.
Lets not forget that they always told, that it's a nightmare adding new things to the game, hell even TFT still uses 8 Kaisas nowadays.
@@Tudas My point was that they declared the event as a failure based on the numbers it had in the end of it's run, while disregarding the numbers it had earlier.
And that the drop in numbers should be expected - after X amount of games you could have finished experiencing all it had to offer. So as time passes, more people would finish it.
No one is saying that making changes and new things to the long and complicated mess League's code have become.
If Riot have said that PvE takes to much recourses as the reason for it's failure it would have been a different story - but no, they said it was a failure because of "us", because "the players didn't like it".
We can see now how Riot learned from TFT how to make the "players retention" graph look "good" with Arena. Let's hope they will continue to improve and give us even more new things to play with.
(But I suspect Riot higher-ups still won't accept the fact that the old PvE events graphs where fine)

Odyssey and Star Guardian were so much fun, but you know what was super fun too ? THE BLACKSTAR THRESH GAMEMODE IT WAS SO FIRE

I disagree. Of all the modes Dark Star: Singularity was the worst one, because it was the exact same every time. Fun for one afternoon, but nothing in comparison to the rest.

I literally think they would have so many people return to league if they just rotated old gamemodes like their original idea. Sure it wasn't successful for a couple of reasons:
1: The gamemodes were very few and far between, Oneforall, urf(arurf) and sometimes poroking.
2: Continuesly playing the same thing can be stale. (Which is weird since people still play league and ranked etc.)
3: and the main reason! People didnt realize it was gonna be removed. "You dont know what you miss till its gone." kinda situation.
If they brought back rotating gamemodes there would be so much more. The addition to Ultimate spellbook, Nexus blitz, and arena (But seeing as arena might be permanent anyways that might be removed from this list) But they could also rotate pve gamemodes, the amount that people enjoyed on oddyessy and Starguardian, Doombots... like it has its audience and they dont wanna push for it for really dead reasons.
1: Server space: just buy more, you have millions, server space is the least of your worries.
2: Peoples interest: Thats why you rotate the gamemodes.
3: the client... well, we've already seen you be able to put multiple gamemodes onto tft, so you could just do the same with one more tab and then just renable/disable them whenever. But i think the client is the biggest problem in general for league.
I don't know, I could rant for ages about gamemodes team, if they maybe had more support or just more balls if there the hold up, they could be dodging so many bullets, but because they layed off dozens of their workers, i could see that also being a major hold up.
I still remember hard grinding the golden space lizard ward on the last few days of the gamemode
I remember that mission gave me the Gem that let you exchange it for any Grab Bag of the year (and those grab bags were EXTREMELY BROKEN). Like there was one that gives you shards of all skins from a theme, all skins for a champion, and that. I choose all skins for a champion. And it gave me all Katarina skins that were like 7. I did re-roll to 6 and i got Odyssey Sona (my favorite of the batch) i loved those times
It took them nearly 15 years to accomplish what Warcraft 3 did almost two decades ago.
Anyway, i'm still happy for the announcement.
Even if they added team death match, a classic staple in most competitive games, it would still be a huge thing for league.
Reminds me of a game mode on starcraft 2 arcade. Team based missions with rewards that carry over. Let's see what leagues PvE shapes up to be
My wish is for them to have a permanent pve gamemode with some rogue like mechanic and being constantly updated
I wish they manage to make it easier to make this type of gameplay, just like TFT did, and do Sets and stuff you know? Like, if they want to re use all the mechanics and code for another round. Imagine sets every year about different themes, and Lore and stuff.
This year could be idk, X skinline, but next year another set of Roguelike but in the Battle academia universe, and that.
As a die-hard Roguelike fan... who sometimes plays league with my friends.
This... this is it, THIS could potentially be my "play league casually" mode.
God what I wouldn't do for this to be permanent.

if we are going to able to make custom pve gamemodes i hope someone recreates some lost ark raids
i doubt we will ever get something ingame community created that is riot games endorsed. They do not provide any tools, and things like customs skins is as far as it goes so far, and historically riot has been ambivalent at best regarding those
Its riot games, they are heavy anti custom creation for some reasons. They should look at valve, the community is literally making the game, from maps to skins.

Average league user ask for thing and when get thing complain about thing coming out to late or that you don't like it, it's the same copy and pasted complaints like always

Hopefully this time they will avoid having missions that require you to play certain comps, because in Odyssey it was close to impossible getting these done if you were playing solo. Queuing 30 times just to finally get the last mission done was a nightmare.

@@cye2310 So yes, it's a VS-esque game. Touhou is a classic bullet hell game, just like VS is a classic bullet heaven game.
@@calebrichardson5259 Bullet hell games are like Touhou, you are dodging waves of bullets to survive while trying to get chip damage on a boss that's wailing away at you. In bullet heaven games like Vampire Survivor, you incrementally level up and upgrade until you reach the point where you are mowing down mobs and mobs of enemies on the screen, so you are essentially the boss.
The fuck is even wrong with vampire survivor , you all just complaining about anything , there is one simple solution for that is just uninstall the game and have ur own life

Eh, probably. Make autos aoe like normal attacks in wow plunderstorm, add upgrades like in Odyssey and arena, then throw in some more stuff and it's gonna already be at least decent

I joined league during the event, I'll always remember being confused by hearing two men talking instead of the usual female game announcer. But I was so new, I didn't even realize there was a pve game mode.

All I can hope for is it isnt gonna be champ locked like the old ones. I didn't play star guardians at all cause I didnt like any of the champs and only played malphite for oddessy.
I only play dota 2 because of the arcade games. They are so much more fun than even normal league. If league can somehow implement a system like that into league (which they cant and wont because they hate good ideas and everything is spaghetti code) league would surely see more players play the game than ever before by a huge margin.
