so, basically in order to protect tanks against modern day threat library, you need something like a close-in weapons system that navies have on warships . . . putting that in perspective to a T-90S tank a 25 MM GAU-12/U six-barrel rotary gun slaved to a gunner's hatch on top of the T-90S turret that will automatically detect & engage incoming threat . . . not to mention active & passive countermeasures . . . turret top observation & gunner's hatch can be made of ballistic (armoured) grade aluminium in the interest of less weight . . . threaded anti-ballistic aluminium armour can improve protection & at the same time reduce a T-90M main battle tank's weight by as much as 35% . . .

People saying. About Russian tanks performing poorly should also count Ukraine's tank losses the biggest win for the Russian tanks is they killed most of the Ukranian tanks with their APFSDS rounds from 80s whereas most of Russian tanks were killed by atgms and the number of Ukranian tank losses are much higher than Russian ones and also considering tanks obsolete is just a suit theory of keyboard generals who believe everything media says as the amount of fire power and support against bunkers and other fortified targets on battelfield drones can't do it how good they get if western tanks would have invaded in such a contested battelfield they would have performed even worst as they are bigger and are a easy prey for atgms compared to Russian tanks and the destroyed t 90 s in Ukraine are mostly destroyed by retreating Russian forces as if they fall in Ukraine Han they could pose a greater threat to more numerous types such as T72 B3 used in the conflict

If a person has to defend the russian army in an argument against Ukrainian army,
then that comparison in itself shows the russian army is not as powerful OR as good in war times AS it is thought to be.
One has to know that even if Russia wanted to elongate this conflict intentionally, they never wanted troops going rogue, retreating without order, getting captured and turned.
Even if the russian equipments that got destroyed is pretty world class, but men is what matters in a war.
Indian troops fought at heights where many helicopters can't go, and when injured, they preferred to fight and die instead of getting rescued by 2 more fighting troops that would have had to fallback to get him to a dispensary 3-4 miles downhill. NOW THAT'S A FIGHTING SPIRIT FOR YOUR OWN COUNTRY !
Russian troops have been shown to heavily lack this spirit, aane I guess many western nations lack it as well.

The one t90m that was destroyed was done by Russia itself using another t90m, there are analysis on this as One of the tank was hit by one RPG 7 and Carl gustaf simultaneously and was saved due to armour but some electronic issue triggered it to be requiring maintanence which Russian forces couldn't provide on ground so they hit the tank's weak point which they know by another t90m in between the turret and chasis at the autoloader to cookoff the whole tank but the appreciation is required as you will not see it exploding into pieces like others as seen in videos rather is burnout and all physical parts are intact leaving important electronics and software to get destroyed

This war is just showing these youtubers how important quality is over quantity. I like how they’ll quote stalin “quantity is a type of quality.” Ukraine has shown that’s bs.

Justification of T 90 getting destroyed are reasonable but the fact is, everybody knows its a design which was not ment for 21st century warfare. Design was primarily ment for enabling easier production with out breaking the bank, designers gave emphasis on tank to tank battle and never gave much thought to crew protection or comfort, especially no blowout panel's or crew separation from ammo. There is a limit to every design which it can be enhanced or retrofitted, even the ERA blocks are one time use only. Also power is a limiting factor considering modern sensors and Active protection systems require a lot of power which old designs never needed. In ukraine both sides looses tanks daily, but russian doctrine or lack of any increases the damage to russian side. Surprisingly ukraine uses more combined arms maneuvers which makes better use of tanks.
Indian army has better logistics and combined arms tactics which provides lethality in battle field but the need of a new design is very important considering the rising No. of ATGMS, and drones. Battlefield is evolving much faster than in the past, so equipments has to be rapidly enhanced or fully replaced much faster. FMBT, FICV etc programs needs to be fast tracked.

Tanks are not designed for urban warfare instead they are meant to be used on large open areas.
Russian soilders in ukraine were poorly trained. I saw videos of them crashing tanks in trees.
Tanks need infantry to support them eslecially in close spaces like in cities which russian army did not provide.
Poor communication and coordination among russian army is also responsible for tanks losses.

The blowout panels weren't needed because the ammo was stored in all T70+ models is stored in an armoured carousel, kept inside the tank as low as possible to decrease chances of it being hit. Unfortunately, somebody in russia decided that it was a smart idea to store ammo outside of the carousel so as to increase the amount of shells available for use.. ignoring the reason that the ammo was stored in a carousel in the first place.

No hunter killer capability, 1 sight between gunner and commander, and the turret literally has no armor. The mk1a is slightly better but still not good. Their tanks moved without infantry support which made them easy target for enemy AtGM teams and their infantry moved without armour which made them easy targets for static defences

Our soldiers will die inside the cheap garbage tanks if hit by an ATGM. Indian government’s corruption keeps leading to these terrible purchases and youtubers like DM perpetuate this fake propaganda that the T-90 is a good tank for our soldiers. T-90’s ERA is also few generations behind and most ATGM’s can penetrate the tank. No blast doors between the crew and ammunition means the turret is going to fly off the top of the tank like a missile. Hope to god that the crew can escape the tank before they also join the turret in its launch phase.

  • @boejiden7093
    @boejiden7093 Год назад

India’s T-90 is not the most advanced version. It’s an older model. India has ordered T-90 MS so that should be a good stopgap measure. These T-90 tanks are not great in urban warfare. Their gun angle of elevation is much less than western tanks which is required to shoot at the enemy if they are hiding in buildings. Firepower of the T-90 is lacking as it cannot pierce a lot of armor. It’s a decent tank but its nowhere near the best. It’s the best option for India as it’s cost effective and has enough capability for India.

Army Should Focus More on Artilleries, Attack and Kamikaze Drones, and Missiles which would be very useful in short range/mountain warfare....

The T Series Tin Cans have never been capable of taking on Western tanks. In Iraq over 3000 were destroyed at the cost of not a single American M1. Similar case in Arab - Israel conflicts. The T90 is no exception. In multiple engagements the Merkava has survived even the most intense conflict in Urban surroundings with modern ATGMs but the Russian tanks have been knocked out.
When Arjun was tested against the T72, the T72 had trouble penetrating its composite armor. Similar is the case with other T class tanks against Heavy western tanks. I think the flaw is more in the basic design and technology, and our love for "LIGHT" or "MEDIUM" tanks has taken us to a situation where our tank force has very poor tanks.

the BTG approach to combined arms operation provide tactical operation flexibility but when it comes to operational flexibility they are handicapped by capacity. A BTG only has an infantry component of two infantry companies to provide cover to flanks of nearly 3 tank companies and the same contingent also fulfils anti infantry roles hence burdening them with additional work which could have done by other infantry companies and effectively over stretching them. BTGs are good for quick mobile operations but when it comes to consolidating their positions and holding their ground they are not very effective. Also the infantry component is sensitive to heavy casualties due to small size

You're extremely dumb to do that. the iraqi T72s were not the russian ones , those were yugosalav M84s with no night fighting capabilities and the best round they could fire was old 3BM22 with 300mm RHA penetration.
