Great video, Luke! Sounds like your Scoot flights went fairly well and your expectations were at the right level. Sorry about the hotel though. Having a dirty hotel room makes me nuts. Hope your next hotels were better!
Thanks Michael! Yeah flown them enough to know what I’m in-store for. Yeah it was a disappointing hotel… put a real downer on the overall impression of Saigon.. but hopefully I’ll get back there one day with a fresh mindset going in. I booked the hotels as I went along a week or two in advance but from here on out they were pretty good.. cheers for the support!
I kid you not.. at one point I thought I saw a gaping hole in the wing… I went back through my videos and photos while on the plane to see if it was there when we were still on the ground 😆 was obviously black tape placed there by engineering… but yeah the 787 wing looked rough. Cheers for the comment 👍
I'm waiting for JetStar's Black Friday sale in November. In 2021 they were selling tickets to Phuket for $149 each way so it will be interesting to see what they have to offer this year.@@LukeCrisp
I’m surprised you remember the flight number from 06! I only started to take more notice when making these videos. Yes, the approach into SGN is very cool!
Good Day Luje Point 1 is is to save the paint adhesion issues due to UV on composite components to put your mind at rest about the speed tape on top of both B787 types and AB 350 Look up the bun fight and legal cases between AB and QATAR over paint peeling off. On that part of the wing is like a copper mesh sandwiched in the layers then some paint. The mesh is to discharge static and lightning strikes on specific parts of affected surfaces. Although a tad ugly much safer and cheaper than a trip to the paint shop. Re the hotel. Noway mate and although I hate to stress staff thats just not on. Had a similar happen in Thailand a few years ago so took a photo and asked to see the owner (a small place down in RAYONG ) Bloke trotted out obviously expecting a spray. And I said can I buy you a coffee and ask a few questions he also had a sort of cafe in the place I suggested place near by that also sold beer, Chang, Long story short he was happy that a polite and respectful heads up and the way it was given Long story short we both ended up half cut a problem solved I still pop in there decades later. Vietnam on the other hand dont cop ANY form of critique like the Thais in my experience. But may be worth a try . Watch out for the scam when getting change I will send you another vid from another Aussie daggy traveller Not you I mean me is a bit of a dagg In fact I often get called the whole sheeps arse. Catch you later Final tip NEVER and I mean never allow local ice to be put in your beers ask for a bucket and put the bottle of can into that otherwise big chance of a case of the trots :)
Hey Phil, thanks for the explanation regarding the tape on the wings. Just interesting that I never really see wings taped up that much in Australia… or if you do.. it’s with very aged aircraft. Yeah! Haha! That hotel was a trip… glad I got out of there! As for the drinks mate… no worries there…. I never had ice in my drinks.. and I’d I did, only at really nice restaurants. Usually you can tell with how the ice comes out as well… (if it’s been in plastic trays).. or it’s proper ice. Hopefully that makes sense 😆 I’m back in Australia now mate.. no issues with the drinks or food tbh. Always pretty careful! Cheers for the support mate, all the best 👍
Hi Luke.I hope you are Ok mate.Great video of these two flights with Scoot.Their 787s look a bit worn out. They look like they are over 25 years old.The NEO looked much better than the 787.I haven't flown on a 787 yet but I've been on an A320NEO a few times and I find these planes more qualitative than the Boeings. It's my opinion of course.Your hotel OMG mate.Disgusting.I would have taken some photos of this mess and left immediately and I would have asked my money back .See you on the next.Cheers from a 40 degrees Athens.
Yeah they are worn out! Haha! I remember looking out over the wing and swear I saw a massive hole… obviously was a patching type of tape that engineers had put there… but made me look twice! The Neos are great! And I agree! I’ve been on the 737 max8 (wasn’t bad).. but I do prefer the Airbus Neo. Yeah.. I took photos and made sure to write a really good review 😆… honestly I couldn’t be bothered with the refund.. it was a 15/16 year old behind the counter and I just wanted out of there! Thanks Yannis! Enjoy the sweltering heat!

Thanks 👍
You had an excellent wing view of the 787, but... the wing looks as if the plane was 20+ years old. Love the rainbow mood lighting

Nice one mate! I love traveling to South East Asia. I always find it mysterious and you never know what's around the corner.
Definitely! I’ve been back 2 weeks and I’m already trying to work out a time I can head back. Cheers for the comment mate!

Noice... Wow TR 302... I last flew this flight when it was Tiger in 2006. Flight number is still unchanged! Landing in SGN is awesome.
