I love how the tenor, lead, and bari all have fairly similar movements, body language, etc, but the bass just does his own thing. Just like the actual parts!
You know what'd be funny? If there was a group of identical quads or triplets who made videos like this and made people think they were one person edited to look like four - and then they surprise you and show that they're actually four different people at the end by hugging or shaking hands or something to prove that they're all real people!
My dad and his brother used to sing this at family get-togethers in the 60s. I haven't heard this in 20 years and it was always a favorite. Thanks, and nice job!
I hope you enjoy this video & my other releases. :) If you feel like tipping the artist & helping me cover some of my production costs for upcoming projects, you can do it here: patreon.com/trudbol You can pledge whatever you want, as little as $1. It's a great way to help me make all this free music sustainable on the long run. Thanks so much!
Alex T Possibly a low baritone, but range and vocal fach have little to do with each other. You could also be a tenor with low range and not enough training.
Thanks! I actually had a hard time recording this one with all the silly moves. I didn't have any lighting at the time and relied on natural sunlight beaming through my window. Thing is, my neighbor watched the whole choreography from her window as I made a fool of myself. :)
I'm studying in school as a vocal major and I will NEVER be able to do what you do. To be able to sing all the parts and combine them perfectly and to sound AMAZING is just incredible. you are absolutely sensational.
Thanks! I didn't arrange this, it's a barbershop classic. Learning the song, composing the choreography & learning it, recording, editing audio & video and publishing it took around 30 hours of work.
@ Same, like I can't believe people wouldn't just know these characters from memory, but imo the show stopped being truly 'great' after around 1999 so I guess we're getting to the time where children haven't grown up with these characters.
So I've watched this about 40 times in a row. I can't help it. It's just perfect. That and my love of the simpsons has come together in a something perfect. Keep it up, man. Everyone loves a good barbershop quartet from time to time!
Thanks for this. My grandpa just passed away, and one of my best memories of him is singing barbershop together. This is really nice to listen to while thinking about him.
Thank you for the kind words, glad you enjoyed the show. :) making this video took a bit of work indeed, around 30 hours for the whole project. The rough equation for the cappella videos on my channel is 1 minute for you = 10 hours of work for me. I am a sucker for barbershop quartets. Mainly for how the voices just blend so perfectly and as a music lover and vocalist myself, that feels satisfying to hear. I also love barbershop quartets because they introduced me to the good songs from way back then. Keep up the good work!
This song (and you in general) inspired me to make my own barbershop quartet at school! We sang this and Happy Together and won our school talent show. Thank you for the inspiration
This is AMAZING! My dad LOVES barbershop and was in awe of this. He said you have "the purest barbershop voice he has ever heard". Thanks for sharing this. It brought a smile to both of our faces.
I almost always start with the lead track, since barbershop is usually lead-driven. For this song however, the bass track carries the song, so I started with this one.
Julien, this is absolutely the best version. Just did some searching around RUclips for other versions of this...many out there, but none compare to yours. My hats off to you.
I don't think you understand how much I adore this. And how much adoration and respect I have for you for doing this. And having that voice. And wearing suspenders. I fell in love with this song when Al, Roger, Potsy and Chachi did it on Happy Days. Barbershop? You are my new hero.
WOW! Impressive my friend.... I was with the Daper Dans at Disneyland years ago and we did this song....when you did it, that's how it's suppose to be done!!!!!!!! Loved it!!! Sincerely,, Former Disneyland cast member,, Robert
Fantastic, simply fantastic! In fact, it's your work that's inspired me and my friends to start our own barbershop quartet! And Coney Island baby is what were currently working on! Top notch sir! Well done!
I've been subscribed to you for several years now, so I've pretty much seen everything you put out, and THIS one is (I think) my very favorite. It's not just the flawless harmonies, either, it's the outfits, the look on your face, the whole package. I flip flop between liking this the most, and "Aux Champs Elysees" - but honestly, EVERYTHING u do I enjoy. Merci, Trudol, pour donner tant de plaisir avec ton musique (and I hope that made sense!).
I must really thank you Julien! You are really making my job of finding a quartet piece really simple because I can hear an exceptional recording of the pieces. Keep making these amazing recordings!
Well thank you for that nice comment! I'm delighted you enjoy my work and barbershop in general. This video was one of my most ambitious solo projects at the time, so it's great to see people are enjoying it! Do share the video with your friends and help me spread the word! ;)
how did you get so good at singing? did you do choir in high school or college? im a freshmen and ive been in choir for a few years now. i love singing
Wow, I don't think any more perfect harmony can be reached than what you've done here because it's your own voice's pitch being recorded in 4 separate registers. Never stop doing what you're doing, you always brighten my day!
No problem, I just love the fact you care so much, theres not alot of good Barbershop on youtube, so its nice for us Die Hards to have someone pushing for barbershop, in fact for my voice class i showed this video! Everyone was busting up laughing, so thanks again for all your hard work!

Anyone else notice the gasp for breath of the tenor at the very end in the fade out? Hahahaha totally understandable after the insanely perfect and long final harmonies. Absolutely love this so much! Well done :)
I really enjoyed listening to you. We had a Barbershop Quartet in high school, and they were better in high school (our high school had a couple of amazing directors who took us to competitions where we regularly received the highest marks) than most I've heard on . They were fantastic and you are amazing as well 👏 Your range is great and you blend so well with yourself😉
Thanks! I've been getting several requests for "16 Tons" and a fan was recently kind enough to provide me with sheet music, so I may give that one a shot. It's a tough piece, but an old favorite of mine. :)

You're wrong on many aspects:
1) One of the points of barbershop is precisely to sing in tune
2) I didn't use programs to tweak my voice, I practiced.
😍😍😍😍 I love your voices. You're cute like my nephew
A+
Did you use anything to increase your range? Because if not.... impressive. Very impressive. (Love all your stuff.)
