I believe Pedro Pascal has said in an interview that getting a part on Buffy saved his career. I honestly wish Eddie had stuck around and become Buffy's new beau
He also said that Sarah Michelle Gellar literally taught him the basics of acting on camera, such as hitting his marks, and whatnot. He apparently had no idea when he got the job. Said she was one of the nicest people he’d ever met in the industry.
@@AKCFTWCharisma Carpenter has said similar things about SMG, helping her with the acting and whole shebang. In general, everyone that’s worked with her has nothing but nicest things to say. Warms my heart to hear.
Pedro Pascal was going by Pedro Balamceda at the time. Last year, Sarah posted a pic of the two of them together from 4x01 and an interviewer mentioned it to him & he was touched that she remembered working with him because she was the one who was famous then, not him.
Willow was the nerdy outcast in high school, in college it's the first time she feels at home and fits in. So I get why she's all giddy. I think Xander was the only one able to get through Buffy because his future is uncertain. He probably feels the same, seeing all his friends go to college while he has to find a job. He on the other hand hides it well.
I like that a lot of people think Sunday is some sort of ‘next level’ vampire with the way she’s able to beat Buffy up in their first encounter, only for it to be revealed that Buffy is simply off her game because she’s so overwhelmed with college to the point even standard vampires seem like too much of a challenge. It’s so satisfying watching her get her mojo back at the end of the episode, that spinning stake scene is forever imprinted in my mind.
There's a fan theory that Sunday was a slayer. I think it's a neat idea, but she well and truly should have broke Buffy's arm then, and would have known what a slayer could do. I like the story just fine the way it was, with it just being Buffy off her game
@@oneslikeme I’ve heard that theory before, but I don’t buy into it. I think some people missed the point that it’s not that Sunday is stronger than an average vampire, it’s just that Buffy is perceiving her as a greater threat because she’s completely off her game and is overwhelmed with trying to adjust to life in college. I think if Buffy would have ran into Sunday in a later episode, she would have dusted her with no issues.
@@TheVexRezicon 💯 agree. I do like the idea of a slayer vampire, but not for this episode, or even this season. But the show is all about metaphor first. Buffy losing her mojo and gaining it back was a much better story to tell for her first episode of college. I agree, people seem to miss that message.
@@TheVexRezicon to be fair, the moment Sunday stepped on the umbrella, she was done for... Buffy's uncertainty was washed away by anger, which as she told Kendra, gives her fire, gives her strength...
@@TheVexRezicon Yeah, it was a popular "theory" in the fandom. But i also don't buy it. I just think Sunday was particularly suited to be a vampire, personally powerful. Like Spike. That plus Buffy being off her game led to it being a dangerous confrontation.
It's tough adjusting to the gang no longer being in our familiar high school setting and our beloved Scooby-gang library. I remember being really bummed about it for a while when I first watched the show. Your way of doing both Buffy and Angel with showing them in order on patreon but still doing two of each on RUclips is great. Never seen anyone do that. It lets people who only really want to watch one show or the other still get their Horror Bandwagon fix each week.
Cody & Sergio, fun fact about Pedro Pascal's appearance on Buffy. This was his 4th TV role ( 1999 ) after one off episode roles in " Good vs. EVIL", "Downtown", and "Undressed" ( 3 eps ) as well 2 short films in 1996 & 1997 titled "Burning Bridges" & "Window Shopping". At this time Pedro went by the name Pedro Balmaceda. His given name is José Pedro Balmaceda Pascal.
This show has one of the best transitions from high school to beyond. Look at all the shows that start in high school and don’t make sense after graduation. Glee, Riverdale, Vampire Diaries, Dawson’s Creek, etc…
I love that there are actors throughout this show who later blew up and have amazing careers. I watched this season in real time so Pedro Pascal wasn't a name actor, let alone a star.
I was actually was sad about Pedro Pascal being killed off back in the day when this originally aired. I thought Buffy was getting a new friend. But nope! The actress playing Kathy is great; she really nails obnoxious passive aggressiveness. She was also in a Pilates dvd I used to own, lol. And Parker. I’m glad you guys like him! I actually love season 4; there are some really great, fun episodes. One of the best of the entire series is in this season!
Ahh Pedro Pascal's first big role...it was this that gave him hope and kept him hungry to try. Without this...maybe no GoT Prince of Dorn, maybe no Mandalorian! Too horrible to consider!!! As for Ep. 2...I always loved the camera work...the sharp focus and zoom on details with jarring music...classic horror/psycho thriller visual/soundscape. College dorm life brings back memories. I was never a bad roomie. I wasn't a roomie at all. My ex bf who was bi was the bad roomie...at a nice Catholic college, surrounded by innocent freshmen who were horrified when he invited his scruffy bar-bouncer exbf (moi) to his room for 3somes with his then girlfriend. A lot of very sweet, very innocent Catholic kids showed up for their first year of college in 1992 and got a slight glimpse of just how wild the real world was...and I do actually feel a little bad about it. I didn't show up meaning to trigger people...but I didn't feel so bad about it that I would stop getting laid because of some people's hang ups.
Again one thing you do notice with BTVS as the Seasons progress is how much slicker the show looks with increased budget and special effects. S3 was damn near perfect, and the loss of The High School Years is hard to accept. However, we all have to grow up and it's an interesting progression for Buffy into adulthood with the pressures that brings. It wasn't a bad opener some great little comedy moments as well. The flying spinning stake at the end when Sunday gets dusted is one of the most iconic shots of the whole series. The phone call needs to be kept in mind where Buffy answers and there seems to be nobody on line. Buffy seems to find it hard to accept that Joyce is using her room as a store room, and that Giles has a private life too. Funny ageist reaction from Buffy to Giles likening him to Hugh Hefner here, and saying 'your very old' and its gross', and also the potential for Buffy and Kathy to drive themselves nuts having to share and get used to each others ways. The show here tries to show that break from adolescent to adult that everyone has to go through. Yes Jules as you asked you gotta do Angel it's a brilliant show in its own right you will enjoy whatever way you do it.

Something a lot of people don't realise about Season 4 is Buffy's hair, whenever she's under a spell or the influence of magic her hair is curly or wavy. When she's normal Buffy then it's sleek. Also, as a raging queen I'm beyond offended that this show associates Cher with evil. 😂😂😂
They forced us to have a stranger roommate freshman year too, mine was so stupid he had a point something GPA, !. He also spent plenty of time barfing into a trash can at night from his partying. I think he left after the first semester. I can’t ever rewatch the scene where the nasty professor tells Buffy to get out..they make that scene so, so uncomfortable! Why does no one ever get the “Big Sky Country” line..? It was true genius to show Buffy irritated by Willow at the end, proving it doesn’t matter who it is, living together takes compromise..

This is a pretty good season, with a few outstanding stand-alone episodes. The full arc isn't one of my faves, but some of my fave episodes of the show are sprinkled throughout. Enjoy!
Help me understand this. I used to watch this show back when it aired on tv and I never closed my eyes during the opening credits? It never ruined the show for me.
@@Magale1978 Because the opening credits that are standard across the completed format seasons aren't always the way they were aired episode to episode back when they were current, so something in the season-wide credits can spoil things that haven't happened yet in the sequential watch order. Why does no one ever get the “Big Sky Country” line..? It was true genius to show Buffy irritated by Willow at the end, proving it doesn’t matter who it is, living together takes compromise..
"for credit?"
Always reminds me of my favorite elective I took in high school to reach my graduation requirements. Syfy and the supernatural class😂 that was the first time I watched nosferatu. And we got to study the Legends behind werewolves and vampires FOR CREDIT 🥳
I usually find im in the minority, but I happen to really love and enjoy season 4! Such great reactions, as per usual!
So good ❤
Thursday with my Bromos! Welcome to Season 4! Are you also going to start watching Angel? Never mind, you just answered that!
That is the same actress in season 1
As an only child myself I think I can understand Buffy's adjustment phase of sharing a space with someone else.
I believe the Key to that is just to get used to it. It is what it is.
I know that 4 is contentious among fans but it is the funniest season. I laugh the hardest watching this season
Baby Pedro!
I'm glad you like Parker.
"He looks familiar."
Could just be that he looks distractingly similar to Xander. ...Ah, American TV, where the average-looking nerds look so similar to the dreamy college guys that they could be each other's stunt doubles.
I don't see any reason for not watching opening credits, there is no spoiler, is it?
I still consider season 3 to be Buffy's peak, there's still great stuff coming
Season 4 is probably the funniest season overall
"Pedro Pascal, what are you doing here?" - What he does best - die on screen!
here's a fin fact for you guys, the blonde vampire leader girl in 02x01 used to be a vampire slayer and was supposed to be the big bad for season 4 but they went a different way
@@rue...whenwasthis that's a common theory but I don't think it was actually confirmed.
@@ernesthakey3396It has been confirmed that Sunday being a Slayer was the original intention during the early stages of writing the episode but they decided to drop it.
Definitely keep your eyes closed for 1 more episode's opening credits, it'll be worth it. Kudos to whoever told you to do that.
Better for reactors to see the surprises as they come.
Willow was soooo condescending to Buffy about Eddie
