Hey Davis, Your Florida Critic Gerry here. The wheels and lift are too ridiculously huge for a Driving on the road vehicle. Those wheels and tires are meant for a totally Off Road Vehicle where a 20 year old would be taking it Mud-Bogging or ruining it some other way. Let's have a more realistic 4"-6" lift with 35' tires. A nice 10" rim would work with that combo. There is so much exposed tread out past the fenders on this "Honey" that the driver would find it impossible to not be constantly encroaching over the white or yellow road lines that define his lane. That's illegal in some states and if Johnny Law wants to break your chops, you better call a tow truck. It's meant to be a 100% off road truck. Just not me. I would lower it and change the rims and tires and then do the math to make sure the differential ratios are rated for the smaller tire size. I guess being a more senior admirer of these classics taught me to admire a more conservative approach in choosing what I would add to a bone stock Blazer and this is just too much excess. The Blazer Truck itself, without that extreme lift and tire combo and of course the gearing is definitely a truck I would buy to bring it back to a more enjoyable ride, For On Road.
He’s not lying about those prices. Thats the same quote I got for my 75 K5. Decided that I would keep it the way it is now since it’s still in decent condition. I plan on taking it off road and camping anyways so it’s probably be a waste of money doing a full resto on it.
yep prices are higher and lower across the areas etc but pretty spot on and turn around times are the worst part. We are aquiring a truck now that has been being "painted" for over 8 years and was promised 4-6 weeks when he dropped it off. So thats the part that sucks but its part of the process.
@@DavisOffRoad1 sometimes it’s just better buying them fully restored unless you know how to do them yourself. I’ve heard of horror stories of cars being in the shop. One of my buddies lost his vehicle to a shop because the shop went out of business and went bankrupt so everything in that shop basically got taken away. He even tried suing the shop owner but he still lost in court.
If we need to bring it back, we would do so we look back on it now so privileged that we were able to make the last three or four runs of that tire ourselves after Mickey Thompson completely abandoned and discontinued it
