- Chickens prepped this garden bed, then we built the Garden, and now it’s time to plant. See how Chickens and mulch did most of my gardening while the plants were growing in the greenhouse (now, ready to go). ALSO in the vlog: Moving piglets to pasture and setting chicken up to do the job.

I'm really curious on two things: why do you have chicken on different places and do you switch' em? And could you explain more about your milk system? I understand now that once you got your milk you put them in an ice bath before storing them in the fridge and then what? What are the steps you take for it to get to your table?
The Breakfast posse is making compost on a large scale. Lily's posse is beside our kitchen garden so they compliment each other. The garden gets the compost the chicken make there and the chickens get the garden "waste." They feed each other. In the field the chickens follow the cows spreading the manure (fertilizer) and eating fly larvae (breaking the pest cycle).
Lily: "huh, nothing's impossible! I'll milk while you plant." love you Lily. What a woman!
I just ADORE Lily! She pretty much makes my 💗smile out loud, all the time. She reminds me of my girl when she was that age. Now I'm 48 and a grandma.
This is sweet, thank you.
The girls of the house don't miss a thing, Lilly keeps you on track
I just love your kids, they are so mature for their age but still know how to be just kids. Lilly is just amazing, she cooks (grandson 14 don't even know how to turn cooker on!!) She farms, milks, gardens. Now SHE is a Pioneer woman. Thank the Lord for Lilly!! 😊👏 Stay safe and well.
Thank you so much
The way you thank and encourage your kids is just amazing 🥺
You should have one after supper chore/rule. Kids have to find all their shoes and boots and put them away.
Your chidlers are such a pleasure to watch. They're so smart, cheerful, articulate, industrious, loving, healthy and beautiful/handsome.
Lol. I liked that little "Ding" when Jonah did his thumbs up at the end. Nice touch Justin Rhodes.
Miss Lily is such a joy and flourishing as Dads wingman 🥰
You have such good kids. They deserve every little reward, too. 👍
I love this family. Lily is such a sweetheart ❤
Wow!... the kids have grown so much. May god continue to bless you guys as you continue to teach everyone how to love the earth.
Lily and you milking is my favorite part! I love that father/daughter moment! ❤️❤️
Most families; "Kids quit jumping on the furniture!" Rhodes Family; "Kids, lets set up this trampoline to give you more air!" lol
Hello guys, your kids are so AMAZING💜💜💛💛 is so beautiful watching your kids helping you and making your life so much easier , GOOD JOB KIDS!!!!!
Thank you so much 🤗
Miss Lily is truly a blessed child when it comes to animals 🐥🐮🐝🌸🌹🌺🐷attentiveness. I can see her being a farm veterinarian!! Your videos have motivated this QUARANTINED NY’er to strive for better living 💚🌷💜💚🌷💜
I've been watching your videos for a while now (mostly old videos) and thinking you should write books on the farming and livestock stuff you teach, but after watching this one I think you should write on parenting. Your kids are awesome. You guys are doing something very right.
Maybe one day!
We’re so excited!! We are getting our first ever chickens. The chicks should be here by the end of this month and we also have a gosling and a couple ducklings coming in the beginning of May so we can raise them all together! We also are waiting on the last few things that we ordered for our next building project, my husband and I are building a chick shaw together!! We’re so ready to start growing our own food and this is the first big step for us!! 😁💗 Thank you for inspiring our family! We love you guys!!
If every child could be brought up such the world would be a better place. Love your family. Ya know, folks would pay to stay with you for a few days and work with y'all. 💗 God Bless you and hold you close. 🤗
Hope everything works out yall. Lilly does so well milking!
You have some amazing children❣️Jonah is “the man” in my book! 😊
I have 9meat birds in our back yard that I am moving around in order to fertilize the grass. My husband is not so happy, but we are going to have some nice green grass.
We did the Idaho pasture pigs 3 years ago and they did not work for us. But, it was nice to see someone else work with them. Although we did like the smaller size as we are getting older.
It gave us a bit more perspective on what we did and the decisions that we made.
Thank you so much for your videos and your honesty? We just love watching all of your videos.
I hope to have a family just like yours Mr Rhodes.
Y'all got a po box? I need to send some shoes your way 😂
Lily is such a smart and sweet little woman! 💖
Justin, you and your family's videos have inspired me to raise meat turkeys this spring, along with a garden and our chickens also inspired by you. Thanks for all you do and thank you for the hard work you put into these videos everyday. I watch them before I fall asleep everynight!!! - from Canada
My dad is a farmer. It's hard to say to him, man, I have great respect for this family and their farming, without insulting him. So......i told him this is my favorite farm fam on YT. He likes you guys too. He's a man of few words.
This is an honor.
Loved it! Really digging your various systems to let the animals naturally do a bunch of the work for you. It's so fun to watch the kids work together with you Justin. Was really sweet seeing you & Lily planting that garden together. They've grown a lot since we met you guys in Sandpoint Idaho during the Great American Farm Tour! :D
We're finally just getting going with animals & gardening, & I get so much inspiration from what you guys are doing on so many levels!
Been putting our chickens to work in our garden, too ! Initially broke it up, now they are breaking it down and working in the compost too. Magical lil dino's
It is amazing what chickens can do! They are very useful animals in many ways. 1. They keep down the fly population, 2. they help fertilize the ground, and 3. they can help make excellent gardens! How many chickens do you guys have? We have 26 egg layer chicks, and 150 C Monsters. Take care!
I love those kids, they are so wonderful! Great Vlog!! 💜
A cream separating vlog! Yay!
Greg Judy builds tree swallow bird houses to deal with flies, see easy build instructions and placement on his RUclips channel. He says that one tree swallow bird pair eats 8000 blood sucking flies per day off of his livestock herd! Increase biodiversity on your farm with tree swallows and let them eat those pesky flies.
Wow, thanks for this! Definitely gonna check it out.
I just watched a permaculture homesteader here in Alberta Canada who discussed the benefits of birds and what type of bird houses to have and where he locates them on his property... Here's a link to that episode... ruclips.net/video/sOIr0cM9Oa4/видео.html
Greg is King!
On my parents' farm, they always had barn swallows and they put up a big purple martin house too. Plus there were countless other birds and even bats. All helped keep the insect pest population under control. I remember one year we even released a few thousand ladybugs to deal with aphids... fun for the kids too. Mom & Dad were experimenters, always trying out different ideas. I'm like that too. 😁
Hey Justin, I use the Gallagher Smartfence system with my sheep and goats. The key is to train them to it. Put your critters inside their normal netting, and then string about 10 feet of the Gallagher inside so they can walk around it but get a nice zap if they touch it. Then they'll know to avoid touching it.
dang, Lily has more work experience than most influencers combine.
Justin, found your videos about 6 months ago, awesome videos. Just wanted to say a few things; 1. You sound like Jim Gaffigan a bit, that's a good thing. 2. that real lawn mower from Lehman's Hardware Store, I had one as a child and its hard work. My Dad preferred it over a gas one despite our large lawn. 3. God bless you & your family and thanks from Westerville, Ohio
Wow, thanks!
Hey Rhodes family I wanted to thank you for posting these videos and bringing a smile to my face each time i see a new one. You've inspired me to start my own small garden and to attempt to grow some vegetables. Keep it up, love your channel!
Our pleasure!
Thank you for recommending Premier 1 fencing we just got ours couple days ago
Good evening everyone. Your plants are looking really good. Divide and conquer! 😊💞
Love Jonah’s thumbs up to end the video!
I like the music you are using in the latest videos! Keep up the great content, and remember why you are doing it!
Glad you enjoy it!
Good idea about pigs. It tilled deep cows or sheep could hurt themselves. Chickens did greet last year. Loved it when Boys dumbed their pockets. That some smart Young Men. Stay Safe God Bless and Peace Be With You All ☮️🙏❣️
How about gathering and storing of all footwear be Mr Brown's very important chore? He's a smart cookie... sure that he can manage this.
She get much better now
I got chickens and pigs from your video it inspired me
Love love love the ending!
Hoping to get some backyard chickens soon! Thanks for all the valuable chicken content.
Good for you!
I so remember having 4 young children. Everything takes 3 times as long to do. 😂😂. They are great and eventually when they leave home to forge their own way in life, you again wonder how you will get it all done by yourself.
And I think you might see if they were full grown breeder pigs , that they wouldn't till up the pasture so much.
Got to love that Jonah
I like your content keep it up men, God bless you and your family keep safe 🙏
Might want to put some of those older non used shoes in storage so they dont take up space... might make life alittle easier
Question: why not use the sheep in the forest to eat all the bramble and such, might not till as much but could be useful.
Great videos!
Maybe those "pasture pigs" are a good intermediate step between "pigs tearing down a thick forest" and "cows grazing on grass". They'll trim down the grass which has come up, and till up more seed in the bare areas.
LOVE THE VIDEOS DAILY !!!!
Seems like it might be a good idea to have a small tool box in your cart so that you don't have to go back and forth so much.
That's a great idea!
Can you explain why you keep so many different kinds of chickens, and why there are multiple different flocks in different places? Would be nice to get a "chicken tour" with each of the kids showing us their set up for their flock, and which kind of chickens they are!
Sure.
Just wondered if you had thought of giving Mr Brown the chickens Lilly does.. It will be the beginning of another book. Where are Mr Browns chickens?
Lily is the star!
justin rhodes so cute your family and kis good bless i'm pilipino
I plan to run some brahma chickens together with my sheep and 2 Livestock guardian dogs in a sheep netting. Only 1 set of nettings to move, the dogs keep off predators, a simple roof like your sheep shaw would be sufficient for the chickens...
By the way thanks for the inspiration to the Rhodes and greetings from Germany.
How about building a huge rotary bobbin station with wheels for your electric fencing? You roll up and move the net and roll out. You also need a Lazy Susan to turn it easier.
Alternatively you can search for industrial bobbins for cable companies. They might have huge bobbins.
The videos are great thanks 👍🏼 keep it up 👍🏼
Great video my friends God bless from Tennessee
Thanks 👍
9:40 just made me realise how much they actually look like their mum its crazy!
I love you all! Have a nice weekend 🇧🇷
I love their wooden guns.. PRICELESS
Hi I'm just curious about how predators don't dig under the chicken tractor for tilling the ground without electric netting
Love ending👍
Love your work Justin, try layers of cardboard over the grass, it's free, biodegradable and a valuable resource!👍☮️
Thank you. Unfortunately the glue that holds the wood of the cardboard together is toxic :(
Haha you need to get tiles for those boots. I put them on anything my kids lose.
Awesome Justin! 👍👍👍💯💯💯
Thanks 👍
The further those little pigs are from the house and humans it seems to me they would be more subject to predation. Does that fence stop foxes and such from a free lunch?
Nice job.
Thanks!
Don’t you have a mini shaw in the barn. Or did you take it apart to make the pig shaw. I bet the little pigs and hens would stay together good.
Mr Brown's SHOES !!
What a life !
Thats some good content
i wach you every day
Can I just check, with the planting of the garden, are you just breaking through the weed barrier to plant? If you had used a plastic weed barrier, would you remove it or cut holes in it for each plant? Or would you never use plastic for that purpose?
will your chickens in the front be tempted to jump up on that fence in front now? Looks like a likely landing spot, sorry. I hope they don't, but any I ever had would. the little gardens look great, and your compost is the bomb!
Let them go without shooes if they dont put them Where they are supose to be😁
Why not get Mr. Browns things found and ready the night before so the flow goes smoother in the morning?
This is a great idea.
The chickens will take care of the manure
Great vlog like always! I'm curious what happened to the outro type thing you have in your older videos? The vlog ends suddenly and it's always weird
TRANSPLANT BE DONE JUST BEFORE RAINY SEASON SO THAT THEY HAVE ENERGETIC GROWTH
Justin: "Oh look at the life in here, there's some ant life..."
Us ants: B I T E
Please do a video on The C monsters when they arrive
It's coming out tomorrow. They came today!
So do you sell your food or give it away ?
The boys need a waterproof fanny pack.
Justin can you put nose rings on the little pigs to prevent them from rutting?
Yes, but then they wouldn't stir the manure. So, I'm happy to have them help create new pastures in the forest.
yall need an intervention for mr brown LOL
Does anyone else have problems with maggots in grass clippings?
Exciting pigs moving to forest. Hahaha! Maybe I got see them drink some skimmed milk. Dnt know, jst saying.
Yeah
hi Justin! I like your posts about your life! are especially beautiful seen from me, from 12,000 km! your life is idyllic and it looks healthy! if Trump is healty, it would be time to reward you and give you the rank of knight for special merits in the fight for life and healthy society! a good thought! Hi justin 1st view and comment
I am trying to find a pressure canner that can be bought in or imported to the UK, can anyone recommend?
I don't can. We like to eat our food fresh from the greenhouse and low tunnels all year round. We don't loose nutrients that way. Sorry I couldn't help you there. I know there are plenty of canning resources on RUclips though. Good luck.
❤️
I thought you were slicing butter for your kids 😅
