I commented on this already, but several replays later I feel I have to say more. You sir have two big compliments from me. Firstly in my Billy playlist I replaced his Songs in the Attic version of this with your version, permanently. No disrespect to Billy but your arrangement and the perfect timing in the performance just edge it for me. Secondly I'm going to put some serious time into learning your arrangement myself (being copied is one of the best compliments you can get!). Keep it up - you're a star :) I hope someday Billy watches this, and it brings a smile to his face.
Kevin Ford Kecin, I applaud your reverence to Mr Steve's considerable contributions to the genius that was Joel, John and other significant composers. Only good can come of spreading this man's ability to the masses and incredible emotional aptitude that he possesses when he performs these phenonominal pieces.
JUST AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL MAYBE EAVEN BETTER, PERSONALLY I LIKE YOUR REMAKE BETTER THAN BILLYS ORIGINAL , THANKS AGAIN FOR A GREAT COVER OF CAPTAIN JACK👏👏👏🎯
Awesome job, Steve, but here's the thing. Yesterday I was listening to Magnolia Boulevard's "Ride" which features draw bar organ throughout, but the bridge shifts into a brighter vibe which made me think back to the chorus of "Captain Jack". This morning I'm checking out covers of Billy's iconic song, and I have to say that I miss the organ work in your otherwise excellent cover. Can we still be friends?
I'm kinda new to piano and I seriously cannot wait until I'm half as good as you, you truly are amazing. Ps. How long did it take you to get to be that good?
Thanks for your kind words. :-) That's a tough question, because the journey never really ends.....but you can get pretty competent in just a few months, and certainly in a year when you practice the right method (which depends on what kind of music you want to play and what style of piano playing you want to do).....my course for example focuses pretty much on accompaniment style rock/pop/country music, utilizing chords, rhythm patterns, and simple improv techniques, because that's what I do and what I have a lot of momentum with as a player. Thanks!
@@PianoManSteve thank you so much, I want to learn as many billy joel and elton john songs as possible mostly because that's the type of singing voice I feel fits my range the best and I think it would really improve myself as a musician. I really appreciate you responding, you're great.

Steve, every time I think I've mastered a Billy tune, learned the correct chord voicings, etc, I watch one of your vids and I am humbled. Nailed it!

Thanks Joe! :-)
Amazing cover!
Check out Billy's unreleased song "Rosalinda". It's very good, and I personally can't sound out the piano
What key are you set in? Perfect.
I dropped it a half step from the original, so the piano intro starts in F#
