Thank you for keeping in the scene of Tao and his mom talking about losing the dad. Some other reactors have left it out or brushed past it even though it literally explains why he’s so scared of losing people in his life.
I saw a brief article about the intimacy coordinators, and I find it amazing to realize how precisely choreographed every kiss is, and yet each kiss looks absolutely spontaneous and real. The work between them and the actors, especially Kit and Joe, who have by far the most kissing in the show, is exemplary.
Even though I've seen the whole season you've got me OBSESSED with your reactions 😁 this season is soooo romantic and I love the way they have made this! ❤
You weren't the only one who.cries at those scenes. I also notice that everytime Nick goes in for a hug, it's like he's trying to take all the pain away from Charlie.
I love how this season starts literally the day after Nick talking to his mum, so you can just step right into it. I hope they will do this with next season too.
It is interesting - I have been trying to work out the time line for the two seasons - to me it seems Season 1 was set from January to around May (in episode 1, Charlie's first scene we see a teacher taking down Christmas decorations from a door, and January is the date on his phone). I believe the sports day was set around May time, with the beach scene probably set around a weekend in late May. Season 2 kicks off right after that, as we enter exam season which would be June. Secondary schools in the UK don't end for their summer holidays until fairly late into July. So Season 2 I believe takes place from the end of May until the end of July, with the Prom being the end of school year event. The trip to Paris would be an early summer treat, for the kids after the did their exams. So Season 3 could take place during their summer holidays leading into the autumn, and I hope we get a Christmas episode with them too. Just my ideas, what do you think? Thanks.
@johnking5174 I mean one of the extra books is based on a christmas event. But yeah I guess we will see what book 6 goes with after book 5. Although from a technical aspect some of the events are moved from the books or dont exist at all in some cases (i dont want to post any spoilers though). The running order is essentially almost right, but a tv episode translates slightly differently, however so far they are doing a good job in most places. One example is that Tao didnt know about Nick until Paris in the books, but the tv show chose to move that to an earlier episode to make way for something else. (at least that is what i remember).
9:58 I had to search for this song "Paradise" because I absolutely love it. It's perfect for the scene in the park. I agree that the music person needs a raise!
Ahh, the park scene! That song is just so incredibly evocative and emotional! Plus I love for some reason that they have Nick in a pink t shirt - he's really wearing his heart on the outside in the scene and the colour works very well for that.
I cried during Tao's mother scene because... my parents were not like that and when she started speaking Cantonese (which is my native language), I just... wish I had a supportive parent(s). Alas cutting them off was the best decision of my life and I don't regret it.
Yeah, every time I see an Asian parent character being supportive of their kids, it kind of destroys me because my Korean mother was not that for me. It is especially important to see that these sorts of nontoxic relationships can exist if that makes sense. As an abuse survivor, I don’t have that experience of parents. It is comforting to know that my experience is not the norm. Thanks for sharing.
Hi - Season Two has just been astonishing - the acting, the filming, the production all seems to have taken a massive step up, seems Netflix put more money into the budget than for Season One, which is only to be expected. This season has made more more emotional than Season One. I wonder if you have felt this, even with the first two episodes?
The scene in the park really got me too...the throwback to S1, same tree trunk, same blanket etc., from where Nick was asking Charlie how he knew he was gay and Charlie asking him if he wanted to kiss and he pulled away from it when there were people around...and then, his confidence in himself and his sexuality, the pure freedom you see in his interaction with Charlie throughout the scene. When it got to his dinner table speech and he told David how he was happy with his life and liked who he was, this was one of those scenes that led into that moment where you could truly see how true that statement was. ♥
yes! the scene with Tao and his mom is so amazing and explains so much about his character. I love him even more than I did before, which I didn't even think was possible haha 💗💜💙
I feel David got a lot of his selfish traits from his dad. Their dad seems to not really care emotionally about them. He provides for them financially and that is it. He is never around. So David got his selfish traits, and since he has no father figure to stand up to him, he probably got away with a lot. Nick took after his mother, in being the kind, warm and decent human being he is. You can see it in his mum. However her warmth and love is also a down side, as she couldn't properly chastise her older son when needed.
I was a little disappointed as well that she seemed to treat it almost as a "normal" argument rather than David being, in Nick's words, a homophobic prick.
I am glad that they’ve started to bring in a bit more of the swearing for this season. I can understand if they were cautious about it for S1 because they probably wanted to make it as viable as possible for younger audiences. Also, Isaac’s mum was player by Tobie’s mum! So nice that she was included. And the French teacher is the intimacy coordinator for the show 🙂 I _loved_ the park scene and how it parallels the snow day from S1 with the mood and the soft music choice 😍😭
Love your reactions as always. I watched this season all at once, so no spoilers, but I love how the acting has deepened and given more layers by each actor. The amount of emotion conveyed in their eyes alone. One example is Tori’s reaction to Charlie wanting to make everything perfect in the first episode. Can’t wait to watch your reaction to the rest of the season!
There's so much going on in that scene - it only really becomes apparent as you watch the following episodes. Jenny and Joe are both brilliant in it, and the way it's shot and edited is so effective.
When Tao's mum said that losing her husband made her unbalanced, I realized why Tao is so protective. I just loved your reaction and commentary on this. Thank you!
Hi again - I have been told that season two was filmed with no Covid restrictions in place, which allowed them to get closer with the kissing scenes, far more intimate. Covid rules around filming were severe when they filmed season one from April to June in 2021. When they started filming season two in September 2022, all restrictions were lifted, and I feel the initmacy co-ordinator was given more room to allow Kit and Joe have far more intimate scenes than they could've done if filming in 2021. I wonder if you agree? Thanks ❤
I don't think COVID restrictions had anything to do with the difference between S1 and S2. S1 told the story of them gradually falling for each other, with a lot of hesitancy on Nick's side because he had assumed he was straight and suddenly found himself having, y'know a proper full on gay crisis. Even before S2 aired, Kit and Joe said in interviews that one of the big differences between the seasons was the shift from hesitant attraction to being a couple. So the difference in the way it's depicted is intentional, and not to do with any safety protocols.
I have already seen S2 so many times... but watching reactions is one of my favourite things to pass time and your channel brings me so much joy. Thank you and I can't wait for the rest of your reactions.
So excited here with you! Even though I've already seen season 2, I'm loving this watch along with you. Especially since I haven't read the books yet, it's cool to hear these little tidbits!
this scene was so beautiful and so romantic and the song was perfect for this scene and rainbows around char looking at the photoes was so magical and there passion i cryed in this scene and to see how happy they are together its so amazing scene just love it that the same place in the park when they was talking and and was going for a kiss but didnt but now he feel more comfortable with him self to kiss char in the same spot as in season 1
When season 2 dropped, you’re the only RUclipsr whose reaction I was legitimately excited to experience. You react, but you also take in subtext, notice little character developments, etc. The way you pace your videos and your tone are unmatched when it comes to Heartstopper reactions. It’s truly a joy watching someone react who really appreciates every nuance.
So Jackie...I was going to say it's on the same street as where Charlie's house is but it's not. The houses look the same. It's actually in Maidenhead. It's the name on the building - Norfolk Park Stores. Lol 18:40
I'm not sure about that store in particular, but a massive amount of the show was filmed in and around my hometown. The set of Truham Grammar is literally my old high school
I absolutely love season 1 (I’ve watched it so many times) but I actually think I love this season even more! I didn’t think that was possible. I can’t wait for you to see the rest!
5:58 yeah, I quite like the dialed back language for the single reason that it can reach a younger audience and more accessible for families to watch together 💗 and I love that the graphic novels are there for people to read the original 🎉 really enjoying your reaction videos… I’m just so obsessed with the books and series 😜 My 12yo and I have watched many times through! I’m looking forward to watching some new series that you’ve introduced 🎉
The thing I didn't catch, the 1st time thru, is that David plotted the confrontation with Nick & Charlie since before Nick knew he was back. David saw the picture when he went in to get Nick's Switch. David's more of a 😱 than we thought.
David is SO rude, aside from being a complete homophobic, biphobic, probably everything-phobic knob! He just barges into Nick's room without even knocking!!! My mother never even did that when I was a teenager living at home - and she was the one paying the rent!!! And I just adore Nick's voice note.
As a ~bi guy (who is rather fluid but more into men) I really found the struggle of Nick relatable. Sometimes even triggering, unfortunately, which of course doesn't take away from my love for the show. The number of times it was assumed he was gay, or expressed that bisexuality is not a real thing was a bit much. But that's exactly what bi men go through. Feeling invalidated by media/society or even fellow queer people or interrogating myself about whether I'm indeed bisexual or just lying to myself is something I experience *a lot*. But I'm glad this is so carefully and strongly portrayed in the series. People need to know.
ppl are wondering if we get THe shower scene in S3, like how 'far' the actors, actually Kit is going to go with it. Seeing u pointing out Nicks/Kits shirtlessness I thought, aw I think he is going to deliver it. like in the books ;)
Hello Jackie! I just would like to say the hate comment you received about 13 days ago was NOT from me, it was from my brother. i notified him about it immediately and had a long talk on why its so utterly rude to say shit like that. i am so absolutely sorry about this, and hope you know how much you mean to me as a creator. you have helped me through so many dark paths during my time on your channel so seeing this comment actually shattered me. thank you so much for everything you do jackie and if you ever recieve another hate comment again from this account to please let me know so i can delete it.. again i am so so so sorry.❤❤❤
Ben is a complicated character, and I admire Bash for playing him so well. As we will see later, his denial of his queer status has curdled inside him.
Nick's brother being so unsupportive/homophobic made me realize how lucky I really am to be around so many supportive people in my life. To be able to quite freely be who I am. Meeting homophobes is already a bad experience, so them being someone you see in your daily life, like a brother, would make it so much worse.
Thank you for keeping in the scene of Tao and his mom talking about losing the dad. Some other reactors have left it out or brushed past it even though it literally explains why he’s so scared of losing people in his life.
It’s been by far one of my favourite scenes of the whole season ♥️
I know, I even cried cuz his mom so sweet & precious
Right? I get that Tao can be frustrating, but he’s such a wonderfully written, complicated, human character. He has such a big heart.

The one armed hug in the park and the rest of that scene is my absolute favourite in series 2, perfect.

They all changed at latest a little bit. Compare Harry between S1 and S2.
