    Love the patterns on those shoes. Unfortunately Solomon doesn't quite work for my feet but the colours do increase the temptation. Looking forward to hearing about the trip.

    Really love the naak drink mix. I've tried it on a very hot and humid day (Thanks for Quebec's high humidity) during a 40k long run. No digestion problem, not too sweet (a bit salty) which is great. I do prefer the watermelon flavor tho.

      Thanks for the feedback! I’ve only tried the Watermelon myself, but I usually find Lime flavours a little too sour after a while.

    Jeff I would appreciate if you explained more the '15min cool down'. I sometimes just consider it walking from my trail to my house. But some insight on that would be helpfull! Thanks for the video and Patagonia 😍

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  2 года назад +1

      In this case, I suppose it’s less of a cool-down and more just that I was aiming for at least 45 minutes of running, with the strides in the middle. So if I had walked home instead of running then my overall run would have been too short.

    I’ve definitely been pronouncing Ciele incorrectly lol. Picked up the trail pros a week or two ago (oddly enough found them released online before Salomon had dropped them). I’m actually more excited for the standard pulsar trail which apparently we can get in Canada later this week although the pros feel like a really fun shoe, just love the energy surge midsole.

    So, regarding the trip you are thinking of organizing. Mount Meru in Tanzania is a shorter alternative to Kilimanjaro that is still an amazing hike.
    Curious, how would you compare the fit of the Pulsar Trail pro to other Salomon shoes? Asking because I am super curious about that shoe and love Salomon shoes but fit varies a bit from model to model for me.

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  2 года назад +1

      Thanks Nicolas, that’s a great suggestion. Probably less busy too 😉.
      The Pulsar Trail Pro definitely fits more ‘generously’ than the S/Lab models, especially in the toe box. I personally prefer the more narrow fit of the S/Lab shoes, but I know that’s not for everybody. I’d say they’re more inline with the fit of the Sense Ride, but the sock-like upper helps to secure them in the heel where I usually have issues.

    • @NicolasCaron
      @NicolasCaron 2 года назад +1

      @@JeffPelletier great news for me then. The sense ride fit my feet like a glove. Not sure about the Ciele colorway but once the more "normal" ones come out I might grab a pair

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  2 года назад +1

      I suspect you’d like these, in that case! The regular colours should be coming soon 😉

    • @NicolasCaron

      Regarding Mt Meru in Tanzania, I climbed it a few years ago and it is either a 2 or 3 days hike depending on how much time you want to take. It is amazing by itself, but hiking it a few days before doing Kilimanjaro is also an amazing experience AND helps a ton with altitude acclimatation.

    Submitted the survey, no commitment but interested to see where you might go. A great idea. Wonder how the Pulsar Trail Pro is for a runner who pronates?

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  2 года назад

      Good stuff! Generally, I think Trail running shoes tend to not offer much in the way of stability / correction for pronation, given how uneven the terrain tends to be. These are technically a neutral shoe. But you could consider adding an orthotic, I’d imagine.

    Hey Jeff! I’m moving to vancouver this fall to start a masters at UBC (from Edmonton). Do you have (or know of) any sort of guide/blog post about the best trails in the Vancouver area? Also am looking for some sort of weekly trail run group or club! I know the city very well and have some done trails in Burnaby where my sister lives. But would love to get some research in on the trails in the whole Vancouver area so I can hit the ground running (literally) when I get there :) (other Vancouver residents pls fee free to reply with your suggestions!!)

    Surprising and unfortunate the Sense Pro's are discontinued given their popularity - I was hoping they were just out of stock like most models. Any indications of an updated Sense Ride release, hopefully without the weird click/pop issue they had?

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  2 года назад +1

      I’m disappointed as well, those really were my go-to. Still no ‘direct’ replacement, although the Pulsar line comes close.
      I’m not familiar with that issue around the Sense Ride actually. Can you tell me more?

    • @alexl8294
      @alexl8294 2 года назад +1

      @@JeffPelletier it's more of an annoyance rather than a performance issue - I still wear them regularly, but they make a click/pop noise constantly. I thought it may have specific to my shoes, but nearly every review of them on Salomon's website mentions it.

    Would you have any insight on Hako Tecton X vs Salomon Pulsar Trail pro? I am trying to decide which one to get? Thanks
    I run on a trail everyday, been running on a road shoe.........dirt,rock climbs, concrete on all ascend and descend.....I slip on this loose sand decending the other day after it rained a little, that's why I am deciding to switch finally.

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  2 года назад +1

      Audrée loves the Tectonic X and says she finds it pretty versatile and comfortable, so I don’t think you could go wrong with either. See if you can try them both on first in a running store and go with the one that fits your foot the best!

    Hello Jeff, like you I am a big Salomon fan. I have been through 2 pairs of Sense PRO 4, the same you brought on the Quebec Mega Trail. I will be very curious to hear how the Pulsar Trail PRO compares to the Sense PRO 4. I have been enjoying the first Pulsar, even using it for speed work and 10Ks on road. The new Pulsar SG should be the real deal and I hope you get yours on time. Reviews so far are very positive.

    I like Salomon in general , l’m all Salomon in my cross-country skiing gear and l bought a few of their shoes but the thing is that getting older l don’t like any shoes with a drop over 4 mm , more than 4 and l get knee and Achilles’ tendon pains and so my preference go to a more "natural feel" shoe , closer to the ground and with just enough padding which Salomon doesn’t offer , l do like their design but the drop of their shoes are to high ! 🤔

    • @SubtleForces
      @SubtleForces 2 года назад

      Very interesting comment for an old newby like me who is also (happily) on Salomon in cross-country skiing. Thanks a lot. My shoes seem to have a comparatively big drop (12mm) apparently. I'll need to do some research, I guess.

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  2 года назад +2

      In my experience, most people tend to get Achilles issues from too low of a drop, not the other way around. Everyone is different of course, but a higher drop can sometimes act as a ‘crutch’ to a degree for those suffering from Achilles issues. It acts similar to a ‘heel wedge’ which a physiotherapist will commonly prescribe.

      @@JeffPelletier what you say is logical but in my case l had plantar fasciitis twice for a few months each time and found out that with a lower drop shoe the problems l had seemed to disapear , so that's why l favor them and l find that modern shoes are sometimes to protective and soft , making the feet lazy and doing so they could possibly weaken the podal system ... l suppose it's just a question of balance and what works for you ...oh and streching is very good , gently and steadily and often and walking bare feet on turf did the trick too for me , just my two cents... ✌😎 ps: lf you go for low drop 4mm to 0 mm go slow ease in to it from 13 to 10 mm to 4 or less can be to big of a step , walk first and see how it feels and alternate to see if it is for you ...good sense and moderation in everything...and if you're happy with high drop keep at it ...
