these training diary videos are so enjoyable - i really like this series so thanks for putting it together each week! they're always eclectic, bringing in elements of training, diet, recovery, gear, vlogging, etc, always tied together with mellow vibes and smooth edits! i hope you keep this up year-round!
Nice to see how you have built up your training over time. It’s a pleasure to follow your training like this. Commentary, footage, editing are all top notch. Thanks for this high quality content Jeff. Always looking forward to these diaries.
Okay okay, between you and Rich Roll, I finally decided to take the plunge and try a month of Athletic Greens. I've been using a much simpler green juice (only 4 or 5 ingredients) from a local supplier and it's okay, but the marketing hype around AG has officially beaten me :P excited for it get here! BTW, loving this video diary series so much!! I'm just getting back into some foundational base-building after a few months of very minimal running, and it's tough to come to terms with where my fitness is at compared to where it used to be, when I could throw down a fun 50k ultra without much fuss (right now that distance is a heavy *week* for me) ... your videos are a continuous source of motivation. Cheers from down under!
I just love your training diaries Jeff!! Thank you for including the RPE scales! Very helpful in better understanding how to use them and for integrating them in my own training. I’m still interested in what RPE Zones you are running at your longer runs :-)
@@JeffPelletier lots of snow started around 800m (best guess). It was hard and crusty in the shade and mashed potatoes on the summit. Lots of snow holes and collapses over creeks. Spikes and poles were helpful 👌
Goodness that is impressive. 37 miles in 6 1/2 hours is great. How do you condition yourself for all these super long runs. I almost die doing around 5 hours and only 23 miles with just a few thousand feet of gain.
Just 1,150 metres of elevation gain on that long run. This route was definitely less technical and hilly than what I normally run on, but I’m trying my best to match the terrain of my upcoming race.
Love the quality of these videos. What camera are you using on your runs? Looking for a run vlogging camera and im torn between a gopro 10 or the insta360
Great video as usual. There is an interesting point to your track session. I had 5x1000 followed by 3x200 by my plan. You had short first than long sections. When do the long ones come first or second? Full disclosure: I was waiting for this one because my daughter was in Vancouver from Friday to Monday included and only sent gorgeous pictures and I thought to myself: how did she doctor out the 5 out of 4 days of continuous rain ;-) Sadly, you seem to be completely invalidating my disbelief!
Great video as always Jeff! Quick question about your long run and fueling with Skratch: were you collecting stream water along the way and using your XA filters? If yes, did you have any issue with the filters clogging with the Skratch? I find the superfuel takes a while to dissolve so just wondering if you ran (yes, pun intended) into any issues. Cheers!
Whenever I’m filtering water in cases like this, I actually carry a spare filter and flask to use as a squeeze filter, instead of drinking it directly. This takes a bit more time but will extend the life of your filter.
@@JeffPelletier Ah, gotcha. I don't blame you for not wanting to put Skratch, etc. through those filters, and I think I'll likely have to use a similar strategy. Thx!
It's interesting that you put your 400's first. Is that to emphasize threshold on fatigued legs? I'm curious why you put the tempo effort first in your week? Great work!

Thanks, glad to hear you’re enjoying them! I’m definitely planning to continue at least until September after UTMB, and then we’ll see 😉
You got really nice trails there! Must be a joy to run on them.

Thanks Matt! Glad to hear you’re enjoying the series, and let us know how AG1 is working for you after your month trial.

Love the series! Impressive how well you are sticking to your plan 🙌
You’ve shown me that my long-run game is weak lol. Time to step it up.
Really love this video, such a nice spring/summer vibe
It's really interesting to see your daily training routine and I love the trails in your videos
Excellent as always. I really need to try athletic greens. A little jump start with nutrition for the day
So interesting to hear all of this. Thanks for sharing!
Damn you intense. I did Lynn peak from EOTL and then up the baden Powell to top of fromme. My legs are trashed. Looks like you are miles ahead of me 🤙
That sounds like a big day in terms of elevation gain! How was the snow on Fromme?

super cool Squamish hat

Hi Jeff. Wonder how many elevation gain was your 60K. The trail does not seem way too tecnical contrary to the Pyrenees where i live

Honestly, just doing what my coach tells me 😉. But that’s a great question, as I’ve typically done it in the opposite in previous workouts.
