      My wife says she speaks at a child's level in Japanese. She also says she loves talking to kids because she can understand them a lot easier.

    GREAT WORK! I like easy japanese!!!! it's really well done and very funny to watch...the girl who interviews is really good and funny! Keep it on...lookinf forward to see others episodes!!! japanese people are sooooo polite and well mannered....and it makes me at pace....

      I can also understand and answer that question with the correct pronunciation very quickly but I can't hold a conversation for shit.

      lovejays Japanese is a spoken fast language. Most sentences are short phrases or even one word stems. It is hard if you don't practice much. Everything is hard when you don't put your ass to work hard for something.

    I think its good to talk about such a spesific subject because then the works are repeaded often enough to catch them. Also, I like it when the question is repeated over and over again. This way I can remember it!

      That’s because jimejime was the only important part. The rest she just had to roll out of duty to finish the sentence. We do the same in English all the time. The rest is something you’re used to hearing all the time or saying all the time so you don’t pay attention to that part and neither does the listener. They hear it as one single thing

    Wow. I live in Japan and when I see the Japanese at the bottom of the screen while they're talking, I can see why I usually don't catch it - They just slide over those words soo fast.

      you are thinking it in english. Both Japanese and Chinese say yes when they agree with a sentence which includes negative words like "aren't", "don't".

      Context, since in English she said "you don't need...?" answer as "NO" but in Japanese she said "YES" meaning "CORRECT" or "EXACTLY"

    Some expressions are inaudible, but the site knows what the people are saying and writes it in at the bottom anyway.

    I live in Japan teaching English. I know vocabulary and can communicate but listening is so hard. Can't catch even words I know.

    One thing I notice as a Japanese-american is that a lot of new wasei-eigo has developed in Japan while in America most japanese people still use the Japanese words that they replaced
    For example, "sutaba" for starbucks and "sumaho" for smartphone

    What is the purpose of "dato" as used in 0:37 ? could somebody explain please!

      The "to" is used to mean "if" and the "da" comes from "desu"
      "ame no hi da" = "it's a rainy day"
      "ame no hi da to.." = "if it'a rainy day.."

      It's just a way of saying "etto" (etto ne / nto ne)".
      Which means something like "Hmm...", "well...", "let me see...", "like..."

    I am trying to learn, but after 2 years it's slow going. Although older person here and never watch but think anime will have a lot to answer for.
