This reminds me so much of when I was living in Japan, but better. Really common everyday colloquial Japanese that is useful. Picking up new vocab and phrases from these all the time.
i'm still waiting 🙏😔 at first i thought it's because japanese is a hard language to translate to english, but they have "easy arabic" series, so i don't really know why. I sometimes watch their "easy spanish" videos (currently learning spanish) and those are really useful
It's a relic from the Nihonshiki/Kunreishiki transcription systems (which are used more often than the Hepburn system in Japan). It's a more literal approach to the kana syllable chart but omits displaying specific irregularities in pronounciation like Hepburn. Though it seems they're using a wild mixture of Nihonshiki and Hepburn in the videos here (for example the normal "shi" instead of "si" and "chi" for "ti").
