    My goodness thank you for doing this! I am in Arizona girl and the colors in this set are so perfect for our early morning and evening landscapes. I will have to save my pennies to get it but I will definitely be working toward that. Every single color is ideal for me. Strangely enough especially the ones that you don't like and a few of the ones that you do 😊.

    I'm totally loving the granulation and separation as well. Immediate texture from zero effort!
    When I first saw the Hematite Mist I fell in love but it was only available in a set and I didn't need the other hues that came with it, so I mixed my own. I took Daniel Smith's French Ultramarine (PB29) and Winsor & Newton Pro Indian Red (PR101) and mixed them together on a sheet of glass (which I took out of an old picture frame) using a palette knife until they were completely incorporated. It dried down beautifully with no cracks, re-wets like a dream, and looks identical to White Night's version!

I’m a fantasy and magical painter and when you mix some of these colors to get the northern lights, it is outstanding! So far everything by white nights I have loved. Thank you for this video, I am really into blues and dark greens, especially granulating. I was thinking about getting this set for a long time. Now I think though a lot of colors look nice, I could just mix them from tons of ultramarines I already bought )

    The day has come, these "secret" messages are simply the papers that say that your watercolour set had been checked and it meets all the requirements. White nights does this with all of its products, not only the watercolour sets. If I'm not mistaken, it's just the echos of USSR period, when all things had to have these papers

    • @IllustrationsByPete
      @IllustrationsByPete  9 месяцев назад +1

      Just another clue. Now what do they mean by that? 🤔

    • @HinArien
      @HinArien 9 месяцев назад +1

      It's also a trackability tool. For items produced in great numbers it's not very practical to mark each single item for trackability, but rather a batch or lot. Marking the product by batch it was checked with is just one of the ways to do it.
      Also if the client has complains, they can report it using information from this paper and it will help narrow down the problematic volume.
      Not sure if this still works this way, though. Mostly looks like it's a "nostalgie" touch.

      Typically turquoise is more green (think vacation waters in Bahamas on brochures). I think of it as a bluish green, but with the base color green. Teal is more blue to me, like a greenish blue with blue as the base so I typically find it to be darker. I feel like the watercolor companies use teal and turquoise interchangeably though so it’s kind of a moot point 😂. This is why I love swatch videos so much because the same color names vary brand to brand so much!

      I always assume I am to blame. That's ok. I think the shadows are all mixed with black and the mists are not. Something like that, so it's determined by the pigments not the end result. Thank you for the feedback, I plan on doing many more swatching vids in the future. I appreciate you! 🙂

      I agree, if I like it then I use it. They give me enough pigment info to get a pretty good idea of what they are doing. Like I know that with earth colors, leaving them raw keeps them more yellow/brown while heating them makes them more red/deep. But I'm fine with what they provide. That may be a solution for the Daniel Smith Primateks though since they tell you one component but not the pigment they mix it with.

    It’s just that they call every colour based on PBk11 a shadow.
    And every colour based on the other pigments/mixes (even black pigments, like PBk7) a mist.
    They assume that PBk11 based colours look more intense or more shadowy, dark, than colours based on the other pigments.
    Mists are milder, gentler in their book.
    That’s where this naming is coming from.
