I’m having trouble understanding the “units” “quantity” and “lot size” when using paper trading on Tradingview. I’ve watched tutorials but can’t figure it out. If you could help explain what some of this means, that’d be very helpful.
People lose because they aren't disciplined or aren't educated enough before placing a trade, they wanna trade every single market even if it doesn't meet the confluence list for them to enter, overtrading, revenge trading and over leverage will break novice traders.
My biggest issue with start trading fulltime, what im going to do in a couple of months cause the journey and not only to become rich, is my biggest Dream and i have safe money to pay the bills for about 3 years beside that... is: trust... trust in to find a broker that is worth it... how do i know that the charts and so on are Not in the way manipulated that its dammned to failure? I disagree. You described a zero sum game. Forex, futures, options trading, and the like are zero sum games and gambling is a zero sum game, no matter how you slice it and dice it. The explanation you provided would certainly help someone feel better about what they are doing, but does not change the fact of what this type of trading is.

About gambling. Day trading is like making a buisness. The only thing not being a gamble is a 9-5 job. I live in a rather turistic town in México. Its famous for the coffee and the river fishes, so quite a lot of new coffee shops and restorants open up each year for the people who live in the neithboring city (with is a state capital so its big and there is local turism). The problem is that many of those new buisness are run by young people who is clrealy spending too much in having a nice looking place and not enough in good location or low prices. The more vulnerable ones are those who sell very "american" things like donuts at super dumb prices or have like baristas and stuff. Like dudes... we are in a third world country. You will only have clients the sunday when the pretencious people with decent salary from the city come, nobody in town is paying THAT much for a donut. So, its super common that a lot of them close in less than half a year. Wich ones does not? the ones who spend their money buying a place near the historical center of the town, those with realistic prices and with local but original foods that a local can buy when feeling fancy. Ive always thought trading as the same. You cant predict costumers income or preferences, that being the inmediate next move. Buy you can predict the general taste of the people, that being the direction. You cant force someone to pay too much for a new, stylish food when the country is poor just because is aesthetic, like how you cannot force a 1-10 ratio when the market is choppy, but you can put prices and menus affordable and for a broader audience, that being having a wider ratio and not forcing trades. When people say trading is like gambling is like... I mean yeah but evrything is. Evrything can go wrong if you do nothing and dont think the problem. Trading is just a more random thing than most, and still I would rather burn money a bit at a time till I get good (or quit it if its just not my forte) there than spend my savings in a coffee shop in my town.

Scalping SPY via day-trading isn't really hard to learn. And while I may not be rich yet doing it, I'm consistently profitable, due to the predictability of SPY once you learn the structure.....Sometimes I scratch my head wondering why so many people fail at it, and I think alot has to do with #1 traders trying to trade too many tickers etc and #2 many traders give up, even after only losing a couple of hundred dollars. and #3, controlling their emotions(trading psychology). I think the success ratio of traders would be closer to 60 to 70% if they just learned to take care of those 3 things.

i like this guy, he's somewhat smart, and articulate about it. traders don't create wealth, it's all a wealth-redistribution game. wealth-generation in the finest sense, would be something like creating Green Energy (wind turbines/geo-thermal), also in there may be farming - if it's sustainable (like not cutting down rain-forest to grow cocaine plants). we have a problem on planet Earth; the oxygen levels are dropping. when oxygen goes, so does the rainfall levels...because water is made from oxygen combining with hydrogen in the upper atmosphere...

Lets be honest arty I really dont think its about being just smart, Some people do not have the strength and confidence. Im an architect from Austria originally form armenia. I wanted to ask are you at some point maybe willing to have a call with one subscriber to see their point of view? because tbh with you I started a job 1 year ago exactly and nothing excites me more than knowing im saving money to place it into a long term investment in the stock market. I tried day trading and did 35 percent profit before the economic downtrend hit form Ukraine war etc..

i like this guy, he's somewhat smart, and articulate about it. traders don't create wealth, it's all a wealth-redistribution game. wealth-generation in the finest sense, would be something like creating Green Energy (wind turbines/geo-thermal), also in there may be farming - if it's sustainable (like not cutting down rain-forest to grow cocaine plants). we have a problem on planet Earth; the oxygen levels are dropping. when oxygen goes, so does the rainfall levels...because water is made from oxygen combining with hydrogen in the upper atmosphere...
