Funnily enough this is actually not what happened, the soulbeast was in the hitbox and died to the other chain (or any chain really, hitbox isn't safe). My chain was not active (it takes a few seconds to form) when I crossed it over the player. I needed to move because it's quite nice to move the chains away from the main group Important to recognize that!
15:50 I think what happens here is not even necessarily a bug, more a connection issue. The icicles deal quite a bit of damage, so if you either 1. take fall damage, then icicle damage from a few icicles you'll down instantly, or 2. take damage from a few iciles, then fall damage you'll die instantly (cuz there's no downstate from fall damage). Only way to survive is to glide a bit and avoid icicle damage, or get lucky and don't get hit by enough icicles to take enough damage to down you. Depends on your connection and luck what hits you first tho, I'd say just always open and close your glider when you're in the air. Biggest mistake you can do as a healer on boneskinner is resing (except if you're a healscourge in which case you want to do ALL the resing). The whole arena has ticking damage, that grows stronger over time because almost all the squads running it just skip the boss mechanic of relighting the fire thingies, plus damage from the whisps around the arena. You get big punished for skipping to heal for a few seconds because it just does that much ticking damage. If you've got any projectile reflect or blocks you can use em off cooldown to block the projectiles from the whisps (makes healing a bit easier).
This is great because a lot of these players are not experienced even with their boon/healing roles. I currently do raid but just as a basic bitch dps and support is like my next challenge.
Look at Teapot, not even knowing WoJ mechanics! There are doppelgangers on the main platform as well, that the others can kill when they come back up, to get you back up.
Hey really noob question- I want to try playing a condi ranger build in some raids and strikes, but it relies on flanking- how do I flank and stack? And how do I know if I’m flanking successfully?
That highly depends on the boss you encounter . Some bosses need to be tanked, so the tank will turn the boss away from the stacked squad, so flanking is no problem here. Others, like boneskinner will do their own thing and face anywhere, so flanking is not always possible. Stacking here has a much higher value than doing more dps. Also, BS is easily doable with low dps, as long as the whisps get reflected or blocked and everybody moves out of the reds. Although the reward is slightly higher if you kill it in time. Some stationary bosses like the dragon facets in harvest temple can be flanked by positioning at the sides of the red circle surrounding them. Obviously you can't stand behind them here. Make sure you still get boons and heal, as not having them will most likely result in a bigger dps loss than you will gain from flanking.
My advice is to just focus first on the positioning of the fight and when you have a good grasp of it, you can incorporate flanking. Depending on the encounter, it's easy to flank while still on the range of boons.
This is a TERRIBLE setting to have on. You should literally never have this on, or any other option which restricts your movement options in this game. Movement is 100% the single most important ability in this game, and quickly repositioning to the opposite side of an enemy by walking through them is often the easiest and safest way to deal with mechanics.
No, absolutely not. Sometimes standing in the boss' hitbox is the safest place to be (think Chak Gerent during the ceiling crash, or Matriarch/Patriarch in VB). You should not need to run yourself into a "wall" (enemy) to know where your range is and how to hit enemies, and turning that setting on not only gimps your ability to react but introduces terrible habits down the line. Learning to play with it off from the getgo is the smartest move by far.
Thanks Teapot for putting this on, very helpful even for us just watching.

10:49 I felt called out hahahaha tbh I come from pvp and wvw so I really have a hard time standing still
From watching the first episode and looking at the arcdps there, it was a no-brainer for the soulbeast to take a DPS role.
Basically teapot leeching noob squad: the movie
Every PUG greatly improves with Bonekskinner when I tell them "Look at his hand. It's going to Freddy Krueger Diddle you."

How are they Ultra New with Legendary weapons and end game armor?
This feels like ages ago
Teapot!!! tell them about the melee help option in settings, it helps to not walk into bosses Hitboxes at the beginning, it helped me a lot!!!

@@YamatoCannon985 at the beggining it helps a lot with certain bosses

Love how illegible gw2 combat is still even with a guy explaining every mechanic
