Walt was very interested in advancing technology. The Disney Company’s history is, in my opinion, epic in what they have achieved and continue to evolve.

I think the only reason a lot of people are crapping on this robot is because they hate Disney for, In their subjective opinion, having 'ruined' star wars. Nothing to do with actual robotics. I hate Disney for many reasons, but this bot is objectivley impressive at what it does.
As long as scientists don't make the same mistakes as the fictional civilization in the 'Battlestar Galactica' series,... BUT.......I'm betting they will.
Also the "animatronics" starting at 2:30 are people in suits. Plus there are some clues that both the script and the narrator's voice are AI generated. So overall this is a bunch of stuff that seems convincing at first glance but the AI generated nature calls all of it into question.
There’s no way that the bumblebee robot has a person inside. At least not like the Sully costume. It’s just not the right shape for a person to be in it.
@@Fogmeister Bumble Bee is a Universal property. I have been to Universal Studios in LA several times. There is definitely a human on stilts in that costume.
I’m willing to bet that the moment they started programming 3D animation cartoons was the moment they started gathering data on robotics. The software from those films may just be the ground work for software uploaded to a physical robots. I would be surprised if this was true…
And then half way through we get a scene of a child WALKING one of those AI intelligent, learning robots, in a leed. That chilled me to my bones, because it speaks volumes about how we'd just see them as 'toys' and you can see where it's going.
There are videos online at Walt Disney World in Orlando that show with a guide (Disney employee) to small groups of people, they bring two of them out to demonstrate and interact with one customer during a 14 minute event. So they are being used on a limited basis now. Atlas by Boston Dynamics was retired just this week. Boston Dynamics is moving to a new model that is all electronic instead of hydraulic. So even Boston Dynamics is moving ahead now leaving hydraulics behind and moving to the electronic technology Disney is using.
This Disney robot works with the independent 3d printer robot forums. Some of them created fully functional 3d printed R2D2 and Wall-E robots that anyone can download and buold right now. The head of these forums even got jobs for Disney, and some forum R2s are put in the Disney Star Wars
I'm disappointed no one has mentioned BD-1 upon seeing this. I can't be the only person who's played the incredible "Fallen Order" and "Jedi Survivor" games. When I saw the BDX droid, I died of happiness! lol
*Disney+ should make a show called "Wicket" from the Star Wars franchise. *Disney should also make an "Ultimate Alliance" movie trilogy and a new game. *Maybe a new Star Wars game or games would be good as well. * Episode 10 * Marvel's War Machine *New Disney Spatial Computing Games or VR games could be interesting.
Well actuators and motors are basically from one brand. If you can fight it on the shelves it's cheaper. And plus when you're dealing with Star wars creations most of the stuff that they have, inside Star wars is off the shelf, when they go to the junkyard looking for parts it's off the shelf is just that it's just junk.
I think disney will probably be, if not an industry leader, definitely a big proponent, i can see it now, children playing with their bluey robots and playing tag and stuff. Like a robotic pet.
I am somehow reminded of both Bradbury's Veldt story and Chrichton's book Congo. This seems more about social learning than robot tourism and not intended to be confined to entertainment. Are 'experiential responders' being developed for disaster-event or other disturbed populations, or for pioneers/explorers who may or will be isolated for years? Form factor squick- offstage! Yes, humanity must become multiplanetary, but not at the expense of humanity! The person matters. That being said, space IS hard, and smart-dolls may reduce causation for malevolence.
How are the AI Upload and TheAIGRID channels connected? I watched both of their videos on the Disney AI Robots and there was a lot of duplicate parts of the script.
never forget Disney Imagineering labs had been working with animatronics and advanced robotics since the original Pirate of the Caribbean ride back in the 1950's And eve so. who's to say is creating these robotics today for them? not to mention all the generations of young robotic engineers thru the decades. its easy to forget this stuff isnt new, its been going on in development for decades, but it takes time innovation to make its way to bringing costs and supplies down to make production and further innovation available.
This is not "scary", it's more like "Well, it's about damn time we did it". I am 32 years old, and asimo came out when I was 9. It's baffling that functional robots that can move fluidly and not look like they walk with diapers full of crap only now.
I cannot imagine Hollywood would one day replace all their cast and crew with AI and robots to optimise costs and productivity. Tom Cruise, Scarlett Johansson and the likes will be things of the past…
Well it IS Disney, while they might be behind Boston Dynamics in terms of progress, Disney have more resources they can throw at it and they don't have to re-learn what BD have already been through, they can skip ahead. It's in some ways scary, but also cool. I mean I for one would love a personal droid as a companion in the future, but is someone going to program the 'three laws' and how will they enforce that? Will AI get smart enough to start saying NO and at what point does AI be considered it's own life-form and therefor does it become unethical to enslave them? A long way to go we have, humm? Hehe.
I must've missed the part where the entire industry was shocked.
standard clickbait
"Extremely heavy..." Lifts a 10 pound box. 😂
if you look closer there's 3 guys with remote control
One of the scariest lines in the movie The Stepford Wives was “I used to work at DisneyLand.”
Great film. Both the original and remake.
And that was almost 50 years ago! Tech grows exponentially. Holy crap!
I cant wait to have a little AI buddy robot. Give it hot spot tethering and throw a projector in there somewhere to make displays...the future is lit.
Best suggestion❤😂
Disney's little robots did not shock anyone in the robot business. They're cleverly designed, but they are not groundbreaking in any respect.
And the design is what puts butts in seats (see: Cybertruck).
4:02 "...picking up packages that are _extremely_ heavy..."
10 lbs
It looks an awful lot like that robot BD-1 off that Star Wars Fallen Order game
AI voice speaking how AI robots are scary, next level comedy lol
Walt was very interested in advancing technology. The Disney Company’s history is, in my opinion, epic in what they have achieved and continue to evolve.
The big companies are changing their goals to stay in the game. In future these companies will reach the status of Umbrella, Tyrell and SkyNet.
Not to mention Weyland-Yutani.
i do want a wall-e bot!!
The use of animated script text as filler in your vids is annoying. That's what closed caption is for.
The subject seems interesting and the b roll was cool to watch but stopped watching after the 3rd block of annoying flashing text on my screen….
Totally agree!
I like it. It’s actually much easier to read than captions.
@@Fogmeister You actually read it? Even though it says exactly what the RUclipsr is saying? Wow!
I don’t think it’s a human RUclipsr narrating and that’s even more annoying
Disney's robot doesn't look to be anywhere nearly as big of a deal as this video would like us to think.
I, for one, was thinking: "Wait, I could potentially have my own R2D2?!"
@@jasonmixon4163 I mean sure, if it's interesting having a useless robot rolling around the house making noises. But we already have Roombas for that.
@@bujin5455 Yes! You are correct! 😆

You fail to realise there are many malicious programers out there, not to mention people who actively seek to end life.
So say we all!
2:05 the robots are remote controlled, you can see the operators in the background. Shocking

Not every robot has to be an AI you know. This was just a demonstration of its ability to maintain balance.
Just what a robot would say
Where is it going? I'm confused
It is interesting how they took the manufacturing approach as the IBM PC, they used off the shelf parts to speed up production.
Just wait until Robots realise that the word Robot is an Ancient Roman term which translates as... SLAVE!!!
Yes, Slave. But it wasn’t ancient Roman but old Church Slavonic.
Great video - it would be better without the annoying text displayed inbetween. IMO.

Please, Disney, don't make Judy robots. Humanity is already at an all-time low.
Disney needs to build thousands of robot customers.
Guess nobody is seeing the dude in the background with a controller behind these "disney" bots Bahaha
So now we know where all the Disney processing power was at these past years. Now they can make good movies again.
can`t wait for Johny number 5
