  • Today I'm gonna show you how to change it the battery in our 2016 kia sorento, it kept dying on us and the battery was still charged enough to start it every once in awhile but it wasn't enough to started all the time so we had to jump it at first once a week and then after a week or so of that we had to jump it like two to three times a week so I went over to our good all friends over there at AutoZone and I asked him if they could help me change the battery because I look at the battery cables and I saw the fuse on the lead going to the battery so kind of freaked me out a little bit because I've never seen that before and I showed the guy at AutoZone and he literally backed away with his arms up saying I'm not touching that and then he went on to explain to me that if we did anything wrong or different with taking off the leads and putting leads on we could fry the Entire Computer and mess up the entire car so instead of going to the dealership where they we're going to make me leave my car there for an entire day so they could get to changing out the battery for me I decided to contact my mechanic who told me that is easy all you have to do is take the negative off first and then the positive when you're taking the battery out and then when you're putting the the new battery and you put the positive on first and then the negative on 2nd then you're good so that's what we did and this video is just documenting what we did how we did it and I hope it is helpful for someone out there who wanted to know how to do this thank you again for watching.
If you having the same problem as i did where it seems like your battery post is to small or when you tighten your battery connectors and they just wont tighten as seen in the this video then try these. amzn.to/3DGb1yG

thank you so much , I'm a 65 year old woman . Advance auto would sell me a battery for my 2016 Sorrento , but would not put it in for me because of having to take that hose off that runs on top of the battery . So I decided to look on RUclips and found your demonstration. They even tried to tell me they would have to take that plastic part in front of the battery off. Thank you so much for this video .. First battery i ever installed, thanks to you

6:15 - Good on you for not editing this out. It happens. Did this once with my head inside of the engine compartment of an old VW. Scared the ever loving crap out of me.

If your battery terminal is loose, trying to tighten the positive terminal, and even tighter will not work with that style. It’s basically a nut with a cone on the bottom and once it’s tight, it will not get any tighter around the battery post. a couple pieces of tinfoil on the battery post will get you to the Auto Parts store and back just fine to pick up either one of the terminal shims or a new battery cable end. Our car randomly would not start and the charging indicator on the battery charger would bounce around randomly, turns out the cable terminal was loose, even though the nut was fully tightened. If the battery cable and on the positive side wiggles at all, it should be rocksolid, that is likely your problem and you don’t need a new battery.

      Hey Lee,
Thanks for the comment man, yeah i figured most of that out on my own. lol, but i just ended up replacing the wire connector so it would 100% be secure. And it's been working just fine sense this video. thank you again for the comment and i hope you have a great day!

Same thing with me. 2015 Sorento. Couldn't get the positive terminal tight. Had to buy shims. Easy cheap fix.

No there was no issue with the radio... but when you disconnect the battery all of your presets go back to stock and you have to reset them.

Too bad you have no idea about WHY it's suggested to loosen the negative battery clamp first.
I can tell you why it's important.
It's to provide you the opportunity to DISCONNECT the battery from the frame (and body) of the car while your wrench is at zero volts, so that when you get a wrench on the other end of the battery nothing gets WELDED if your wrench touches the car at the same time.
