    The Gen 3 PMAG uses a dust cover that should be used if you are storing it for long periods. The cover will push the rounds slightly down so that the ammo doesn't put stress on the feed lips.

      @Sharon Smith not sure how long you can leave them loaded that way without the dust cover. I kinda agree it's a point of failure and needing a dust cover to keep the mags loaded is a bandaid to a problem that should be addressed. I do trust pmags but typically use them for training and range use. I've been slowly moving towards Duramags (steel and aluminum) and Lancers if I'm putting away magazines loaded for long term storage.
      Magazines aren't expensive but it is an added cost. Magazines are a throw away product too so I had to start training myself to destroy and throw away mag bodies and springs once they've become unreliable. Typically the follower can be saved.
      If you've purchased dozens of pmags for long term storage that hurts to have to possibly exchange but I'm personally straying away from pmags now for this reason.

    • @madride858585
      @madride858585 Год назад +15

      Lancer zero issues. I have absolutely no clue as to why they are " finicky, won't work right, I hate them ect". They do not sponsor me but me and my shooting crew uses them. I can't even think of an issue. Pmags I have video on thier Glock stick mags, horrendous. I even called the company and talked to a engineer. They sent me out 3 more 27rd Glock stick mags. Still problems- using them in different handguns and
      AR9's. Mabey it's the area you live in and the weather conditions?. Looks like a large amount of PNW shooters here. I'm in middle Tennessee. We don't have the rain and dampness like the PNW does.

    • @curgunner
      @curgunner 2 года назад +3

      @@tangomantactical Glock mags are a different story. Always go OEM there for serious use. For AR mags though I haven’t had an issue. With lancers I’ve had a significant amount of double feeds, a few durability issues where they’ve cracked or the feed lips have bent. And also if you drop them while they are full they are almost guaranteed to spit ammo. Should you be dropping your full mags? Obviously not, but it can happen and having them spit half or all your ammo onto the ground is a massive pain in the ass. I haven’t had that issue with Surefeeds and Pmags.
      Also for what it matters I’ve lived in Colorado and Indiana so either dry or humid and have had issues with lancers in both locations. I have some so I use them for range mags, but never keep any in my serious kit. This is on two different rifles, both have Aero upper receivers and thats about their only commonality.

      So it's not just me then? My Lancers barf rounds when inserted on a closed bolt without fail. Even with only a few rounds them I'm getting 2 or 3 as soon as the bolt moves. Luckily I only have 2 color matched for a goofy theme build and 3 just for SOCOM. Hex mag for my .308 work better than most and I've not had issues with ETS. Rifle mags I should say, their pistol mags suck and have fat base plates that make a magwell a no go. Pure jam-o-matic. ETS rifle has a longer follower than most tupperware pill boxes. Helpful on a lower with a bit of a sloppy bolt catch that misses other plastic mag followers, a few thousandths of wobble is all it takes. I actually mostly use ASC stainless and like them. Easier in and out of anything, rifle or carrier/pouches. I have a few gen 2 Magpul but they have Endo mag inserts for my PCC, but I do like them. I've actually been enjoying KCI a lot as of late, both pistol and rifle mags. Pro mag price and they don't suck. 😜 Edit: To add more to volume 1: ETS rifle issues I'd heard of were bulging/feed lips opening if left loaded for long periods, but any plastic mag can do that. If I'm storing full for any length of time or in high heat it's steel only. I'm no expert by any means, this is just what works for me. To each theirs. 👍

    Okay Industries will cease manufacturing Surefeed magazines at the end of 2022. They also make medical supplies, and they will be concentrating on those. 40+ years of making some of the most reliable AR15 magazines that have ever been made. Okay Industries is looking for a company to buy their magazine manufacturing equipment. Hopefully another company will buy them. If not, this 40+ year tradition will be coming to an end.

    I avoid gen 2 p mags like the plague and the 3s are just average. Carbon hexmag, lancer, and ETS are far better IMO, especially since the gunmagwarehouse ETS exclusive is 7.50, holds 31 and seats easily on a closed bolt with a gentle push. Honorable mention to Thril pmx, may become my new favorite if it keeps performing the way it does.

      Lancer are my go to mags and I still have a metric ton of Magpul I have used since Gen 1’s. Lancer L5AWM are my go to these days. I keep an eye out for sales and by them in bulk. I probably have used every magazine known to man popular to the AR platform but at the end of the day, its a disposable and always were meant to be in my professional opinion. They wear. They bend. They get crushed. (Especially older aluminum style)

    Just gonna share some terribly unreliable mags: ETS Group. Just garbage.
    And Magpul PMAG, not exactly unreliable, but I’ve had many that like to just get stuck in my magwell. Not an issue for a loaded mag. But empty mags don’t always drop out free. Big issue? No.
    I just prefer CProducts mags. They’re like $10-11/piece and they’re sexy and they’re reliable.

    AR-15 mags I don't recommend: A. Mako Tactical Steel. Was sticky in insertion and extraction from my AR. Gave to ally. B. PMAGS. Flunked Tire Irons Tests. Gave to ally. C HERA. : Has tiny part that can be lost, potentially rendering the mag inoperable. D. USA and PROMAG. Two disasters you should at all costs. E. Aluminum mags: not sturdy enough.
