The app is trash. this thing could be so much better if the appcation interface was open source so the community could make this thing easier to use with better functionality
I love mine!! I scrolled quickly before watching it all, not sure if it was mentioned but there is a PC Data app too to keep track of your temps and use percentages for CPU/GPU/RAM and HDD. Loved it from the moment I got it and always looking if they have new models!
Love it!!! Huge fan of pixel art here, just as a fan/appreciation thing, never tried to make any but it's great that you have that perspective on it to add depth to product reviews such as this
I have had one of these for a while. I made some art on Asesprite. The display is great. Not sure if it's just me but the app is garbage. Laggy, confusing and glitchy. Shame as I love it otherwise.
Picked up the 32x32 model as a birthday gift for my kid. We both are happy about it. Their pixel art community is wonderful, always something new and fun to put on the device.
Just checked ali prices and both are the same right now for this guy. About 130$ ish with coupons.! Amazon has way faster shipping though. Just picked mine up on Amazon!
If you want to just mess around with pixel art without much hassle or knowledge, like to make an avatar (like my Dovahcat here) or a quick gif, Piskel is a pretty good free program. It's browser-based, but also has a client version.
I've had my eye on this thing for a while and I keep hesitating to buy it, because I'm worried what will happen to it when/if the company goes out of business. Is it cloud-based? The information I found is kind of sparse
The community is cloud based, but the device itself works over wifi (you connect to it over the app), so at the very least you'd be able to add your own art/photos to it (and I believe the clocks and trackers and info displays etc would still work). It's also open source (there is a gihub page with a few PC controlled apps), so there's a chance the community would step up and keep it active. Hard to say though.
😜😜😜 Simple idea but looks cool. One of their devices I use quite often in some of videos. I really regret they don't have any model looking like small tv but with normal lcd screen.
would you be able to compare it to the pixoo 16? a youtube recently did one and said the pixoo 16 seems to be brighter and had better whites than the pixoo 64. So im wondering if the new pixoo 16 uses a better quality screen or so
That wouldn't surprise me. I'm pretty sure the small pixels on the 64 cause it to be dimmer (you can see in my zoomed-in footage that there's a bit of a shadow around the edge of the pixels). I should ask the company if they'd send me the 16x 🤔
Oh man I love these products that you bring, they're so original and different just like your channel and that's awesome. I love pixel art too, want to learn one day and make a game. Only problem for me is that I can't buy this awesome stuff without having tons of money (brazilian real problems and taxes).
Some things I would like to know in a review like this. What technology does it use, what kind of LEDs, what is the rated burn time for the LED's, Burn-in protection?, how many watts does it pull, does it produce any heat from the screen, can it connect to a wall charger or only a device (or visa versa), can you import animations, just like you did with the cat picture?, what are the dimensions of the frame in inches and centimeters, Does the app run on android? Apple? can it run on tablets? can you create your own art with stat trackers? Like your own youtube tracker or your own weather app images? What kind of options do you have for switching images? can is rotate through 10, 20 , 30 images? can it switch from image to stat trackers on a timer? there is a lot of information that I hoped to hear about.. I am really interested in this product so I'm searching reviews.. and in reviews I expect detailed info on the device.
I'll answer what I can (anything I didn't answer I don't know) - It's been running non-stop ever since I got it (all day every day), no noticeable burnout or degradation in the 'pixels' - I have it running on a 5w wall wart - No heat that I can feel - You can import frames of the animation as individual pictures and stitch them together as animations (no native animation file support though AFIK) - App runs on android. Not sure about apple. Yes tablets. - I don't think you can make your own tracker. Just moving and static art AFIK - You can set it to a single image, set it to a clock/tracker, or set it to rotate through popular uploads. I don't think you can make playlists. It does have a timer mode in the app. Hope this helps!
Very very cool. Looks like you thoroughly enjoyed it, excellent review. Your background lent well to really fleshing out the capabilities of a device like the Divoom. Had allot of fun with this one, keep your ear to the ground for a device that would inspire me to play my instrument more. 25 year musician, but now that I'm 40 II no longer practice as often as I should. See you on the next one
Just picked one of these up today on amazon for just under £90. Originally bought the 32x32 and it was OK but can't wait to play with this. Subbed today!
I have the 16x16. Awesome device. I love it. The 64x64 must he even greater. Also, congratulations on getting to 30K subs. When you become too big to be able to read all your comments, please remember me mate!
@@TechDweeb I can send you some videos of my setup if you want, if it works for you. Sadly, it is only Bluetooth, so the extra data it can show is limited.
Dweeb I watched the video through until the end and found it enchanting. Sometimes we say things we don't mean. I'd love to have that pixel art frame but I don't have talent to make use of it. Congratulations on over 30K, you deserve it. Here's to 40k and beyond. I know you will do it and I'll be there watching every one of your videos. Seriously man, I have no idea how you find the time to put out so much great content. Soz fella. Love to Hermione.
@@TechDweeb Thank you TechDweeb Your channel has given me much more than I can ever give back to you. I'm with you all the way. The channel has an identity and you nailed it. This is very cool. It seems like a retro throwback version of the Sony Dash smart clock from (something like) 15 years ago. I had a couple of those things but they unfortunately crashed and burned. This thing is -amazingly enough considering it's 64x64- much more capable.
You've either got sinusitis or a deviated septum. your sleep would improve greatly if you get that fixed. your voice will also sound deeper in more mature. but more importantly you won't die in your sleep. treatment costs between 2000 and $5,000. My friend had a more serious case than yours and the results were life-changing. I highly recommend you looking to that treatment
If they upped the resolution to 128 by 128 we can play Pico 8 on it.
YESS 😍
The app is trash. this thing could be so much better if the appcation interface was open source so the community could make this thing easier to use with better functionality
One time I was at a museum that had both medieval cross-stitching and ancient mosaics and I was like, "oh my god, pixel art is THOUSANDS OF YEARS OLD"
That is an awesome observation

Yeah I noticed that when I was making the vid. I'm definitely gonna give that a try :D

Nice. Enjoy!
That is really cool! but too expensive for me😕
Does this require you to own a smartphone to be able to use it, or is there a web based or desktop application that we can use?
As far as I can tell, yeah you need an android device of some kind.
I'm a huge Divoom fan. Have the 16x16 and the 32x32 version. It's come a long way since I first heard of them.
I love the look of the 32x version.

True. True.

I really enjoy the divoom pixel drawing app for some fun low-stress art-ing.

@@TechDweeb also just wanted to confirm is it an ips panel? Like would there be any color shift if you look at it from a different angle?
I see you're a mack fan. You ahould have finished the sentence though with "the developers", works well here too 😂
can you put battery's in it.
Kinda want something cool like this. With a clock and calendar. Cool pictures to awsome

Yup! You just need to use a mobile device to set it up.
