  • It’s amazing how many wonderful places there are for enjoying some of the finest pork barbeque in the world right here in Tennessee but, it takes more than just good barbeque to stay in business over the years as Tennessee Crossroads found out when we visited a 40-year-old restaurant filled with family pride.
Big John's Bar-B-Q is permanently closed, but you can watch this and more episode segments of Nashville Public Television's Tennessee Crossroads.

My aunt Linda worked there in the late 70s. Used to eat there as a kid. Feels so good to see it still in business. This is what America is about. Not the Walmart’s of the world.

This place is now under new ownership. It’s called Legends Express, which is also a barbecue place. Very good food.

I live in Lawrenceburg, TN, so I get to see Big John's pretty often.
Their barbecue's very good. In fact, I've had it for my last two birthday dinners! ^_^

It is a shame that's gone...was some of the BEST barbeque for miles and miles around...so sad that it's no longer there....

I did a little Google investigation to learn that the restaurant was burglarized two times in March 2020 so I'm guessing between covid-19, the decrease in business, and the burglaries the owner just gave up.
Remember in the video she spoke about a major road moving business in a different direction

The caption reads closed is that forever or for the season ?

Very likely permanent I can't see the producers of the video trying to keep up with the day-to-day or season to season opening and closings of all of the businesses they featured over the years
One of the main reasons for featuring the business is to draw business to the business so the responsible thing to do would be to update the video as they have in the caption to let people know that the business is no longer in business when they find out that they have closed

Vern! why didn;t you go back? Must have went to the country! Country folks have to get up early, say bout 4:30. I did that for over 30 years as a school bus mechanic! Farmers, Bakers, Welders, Grocery store owners, the list is endless of folks getting up early and keepin this country going ! Oh, I'am in Southern Illinois! And I pray for Illinois cause we have had some bad Governing in the past! I'am in love with the lady at the counter! She is Fantastic! A Happy man she has! God Bless.
