My local LGS had some Lorcana TFC boxes collecting dust when market price was around $300 for them. Grabbed 2 for about $175 each. I’m happy to sit on them for a good long while. Last I checked there was a premium on the first wave boxes, which mine are not, although they do have the EN01 label (probably 2nd or third wave). The second big printing of TFC has an “EN02” on the bottom of the box. It’ll be interesting to see if any of that matters in the long run. My biggest reservation about the boxes is the fact they are basically “sealed” with a few pieces of tape and I can see a whole lot of shenanigans take place if these ever become highly valuable. Edit: As far as MTG I’m surprised you didn’t mention LOTR collectors lol. They even dwarf Fallout gains. An interesting note on Assassins Creed is it apparently had a very short print run but the overall sentiment on the set is very negative. Time will tell
Down at Disney Anaheim now. Met some Lorcana players at the hotel and stopped to chat. One moved from Pokémon, the other moved from Magic, and they were both very hyped about it. In the least it was cool to get some first-hand experience with Lorcana. Still not fully convinced, but Disney spares no expense at its park, I don't know why their TCG would be an exception
I started with Magic: The Gathering back in 1994, but today I can’t quite follow the strategies of Wizards of the Coast. By the 2000s, I got into the One Piece manga, and in 2022, I started with the One Piece TCG. It has great artwork, IP, and gameplay, though it still feels uncertain in the market. Flesh and Blood's Mistveil and Rosetta are incredible. Lorcana has the backing of the Disney community, but its place in the TCG world isn’t secure, and I’m still unsure about the gameplay. Pokémon remains the dominant force in the TCG space, but the constant set releases feel a lot like Magic's recent overload. As for Magic, I’m done with it. As a Star Wars collector, Star Wars Unlimited was a natural fit for me. Today, I hold a bit of everything-diversifying my collection. Pokémon takes the largest share due to its broader market opportunities.
Nice change up video. Remember flesh and blood monarch 1st edition hype? Checked up on some of my fab boxes recently- Talk about some paper losses in the collection
There is a reason the EB01 box is doing well. It’s more limited as you can only get it from LGSs. They are the opposite on Pokémon. With specialty sets they only print booster boxes where Pokemon prints other products and just not booster boxes. I’ll be keeping an eye on future specialty sets.
I bought a case of Fallout MTG because I’m a diehard Fallout fan. I also bought some LOTR as well. If it is a very strong nerdy IP that they print, collector boxes should do well since they have serialized card and won’t be reprinted, at least they shouldn’t. Marvel and MTG collab was also leaked, and I will also pick those up as well when they hit.
I love yugioh more than pokemon im 60/40 because of my childhood but i have 70k in pokemon and maybe 5k in yugioh.. the money is in pokemon and the popularity and yugiohs recent releases have me worried for yugiohs future.. not buying a thing right now and looking at selling a few
Battles of Legend Terminal Revenge is up to $109 (Yugioh) it’s got a $700 25th quarter century rare of a new chaos black magician and blue eyes 🤯 I bought one for my cousin at $90 for Christmas , two months ago it was $70 🤯🤙🏽
For one piece currently keeping case of op05 got it at 1500 so still up and pre ordered op05 2nd anniversary for 1700. Going to save up for team rocket and Eevee sets...thanks Alex for your videos
Another good video. Hey out of curiosity that buddy you spoke about that got back in the hobby with you. When you guys sold off during the boom did he buy back in like you did or stayed out of the game?
The problem with the Yugioh 25th reprint was there was no quarter century rares in there. I don't know why they didn't include it in there, but the rest of the 25th sets till now still have quarter century rares. Just bad marketing and decisions.
Metazoo past sets are bags. If they can keep production very conservative and sell directly with no reprints then it could do well. It’s an investors tcg. Not for players so they need to remember that. I’m interested to see if they can not be greedy.
I think it's a collector's TCG, basically exactly like Pokemon. No one remembers battling kids with their Pokemon decks, they collected cards in binders and traded them around.
I was ripping Pokémon on tick tock and boxes going for 99 pound but 1 card in there was 300 pound so much bigger considering grininja out of scarlet violet is 160 so they have a card double the price I couldn’t believe it as always fort Pokemon would be smashing it so had a conversation as I had no clue about Star Wars but made me think 300 pound for 1 card
I got excited to hear you talk about SWU only to be slapped in the face 😂 jk. After FFG saw the intense demand for the first set they were able to up production on set two, it seems they may have went a little overboard but the community that plays it seems strong still! We will see if it holds up.. I love star wars and enjoy playing it myself.
Really liked this content, covering all instead of only babashu and bumbaloo. Btw u forgot lord of the rings on Magic the gathering or u left It out on purpose?
Metazoo sells itself. Every comments section everywhere will be a full on seethe-fest of free advertising and controversy. People cant help themselves but talk about Metazoo even today. Its a spectre over the entire space. I look forward to the Metazoo x Palworld set.
So check this out. I started sellings tcgs recently, coming back from a mtg backround. And lorcana has either kept up or outsold all my other tcgs. Anecdotal, but im having a tough time ignoring that data.
Why Bandai didn’t make dragonball cross compatible with one piece I don’t know, imagine mixing and mashing up characters from anime titles in a deck. 😅
With sealed product, I've done better with Dragon Ball products as compared to Yugioh products. I do have some Yugioh products which have done okay, but I would say Dragon Ball has done better. But these were products that I was buying before 2021.
Op01 Blue Bottom. Holding my booster box forever. Now, modern Pokemon investing is different than older era's simply by the rapid increase of sealed collectors. What sealed SWSH and SV booster boxes will do in the future is very unknown because we are yet to see what prices they can hit with sealed collectors being at an all-time high compared to previous years and older sets. These modern boxes might never go up to $1k for all we know, maybe they will, but there is no evidence backing this up yet. Literally, we have to wait years to see if this modern sealed collecting is a good investment. I feel like everyone thinks these booster boxes are going to the moon based off older Pokemon sets and alt arts, but like I said before, there is no proof yet. We shall wait and see.
Other things have changed as well but it doesnt fit your narrative as well. There were also no breakers and kids have at least doubled the number people interested in the past decade or so. Hit rates are different meaning people have to rip more to get the rare cards. Evolving skies is hitting $1000 a box in the next 5 years (maybe more like 2). Modern pokemon is not only doing just fine but in fact seems to be off to a much better start
Well, technically the rules committee made that decision but I’m guessing they work in tandem with WOTC so who knows what they are scheming. Either way, the trust continues to be broken between banning cards and 30th anniversary. If they doing anything else to erode the RL its game over
I’ve played with the idea of investing into lorcana. It’s hard to see a future where Disney will just let this fail. Comment on this if you are or aren’t investing into it so I can get an idea please!
@curiouscollectiblesAU They already have like 100,000 of Seance, UFO, and Wilderness at the printer. Cryptid Nation and Nightfall 1st editions are gone though, and Native got short printed. Charlie would have to be Timmy to simply reprint existing boxes.
The problem with metazoo is it's a terrible game. They took a goofy set (Unglued) from magic the gathering and made an actual tcg. On a positive note i'm still holding on to 2 Fallout boxes.
Maybe I'm too old but I absolutely love the Metazoo art, easily my favorite cards. If nothing else there's enough mid-30s fellas to buy up 10,000 print runs. 😂

@NostalgiaNomics I think these can be the TCG version of Cards Against Humanity. They're quirky and ironic and pretty cool. If the gameplay sucks just patch the cards, people can write the new rules over the old ones in Sharpie. 😄 Being a dead NFT scam brought back to create further controversy is bullish, and inherently meta. It's right there in the name.
How dare you speak bad about MetaPoo..I mean MetaZoo, to the mooooooonnn!! In all seriousness might speculate on a few things just because it’s super cheap and you never know, also it’s history. Biggest fall off in tcg history imo.
The controversy around its return is going to pump it. Everyone forgot why they cared or doesn't know enough about it to be bothered. The amount of salt in the comments a couple years from now will be unreal.
So the one piece that got reprinted the only difference is the color of the bottom of the box and idiots think it makes it valuable because they dont wanna see they got burned on a reprint??? Hopefully I have that all wrong. Dont really care Ive never seen that show or anything and would never buy the cards but if thats accurate thats hilarious.

Just sell it where I can find the nest rates. Always have to shop around.
