- As part of our Southern Equality Tour, GMCW had just performed at the Pride Festival in Knoxville, TN. We were already on our buses, headed to our hotel, when we decided to get off the buses and confront these protestors the best way we know how-with music.

I think my favorite part was when they changed "brothers then" to "family then" and "ten million righteous men" to "ten million righteous friends". This was truly a song of acceptance and love.
I love that one second tenor towards the end who belted out the harmony part and was almost singing above the melody. Relatable af.
Not gay, but have to say, this is beautiful. "To love God is to hate sin". The sin here is not letting one love someone else.
Only if you mis-read the texts to support your position. Religious texts have been used for centuries to justify everything from misogyny to slavery to gun ownership.

The Bible has never been used to justify slavery as there are no txts in support of it. As for gun ownership, the right of self defense is there for everybody, including homosexuals.

The passion in this song is amazing. They really pour every part of themselves into singing, and that’s what makes it beautiful.
My choir happened to be singing this for a concert and the parkland shooting happened so on the day when the whole country walked out of school to protest we sung this song

There were two very different approaches to Christian type values here . A fire and brimstone old testament hateful one and a new testament love , kindness and respectful one . I'll certainly go with the latter as its beautiful and inspiring. More of this in the world please .

Good on you, GMCW! Reminds me of my first performance with the chorus in 1984 at the National Theater in DC. It was an evening of choral music from many groups in the area including a gospel choir and a children's chorus. When we were introduced, the audience roundly booed and hissed that (horror of horrors) gay men were going to sing. By the end of the performance, the audience was on its feet cheering. Music can change attitudes and change minds. May it ever be thus!

So if a Christian says you’re an abomination, or you’re going against god, the only person who could’ve created you, based on their belief, is god. So if you’re a “mistake”, then their god isn’t perfect.
However, this goes against their belief as well, as god in their eyes is perfect and infallible. So, technically, you’re just fine. Blame society for telling you you’re not valid - by gods own admission, he created you as you were meant to be. Not how those around you choose to dictate how you are meant to be.

I love how you have changed the lyrics to be more inclusive. There are a lot of amazing songs like these that are really powerfull, but can make women feel left out when they always only talk of "brothers" and "men" (not that it's a problem individually, but as a trend it's rather exclusionary). I absolutely adore this version.

I have no idea if there truly is a God, but I believe if there is he isn't wasting his time condemning people who love one another just because they are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender. Our country is beautiful because of all of our differences, once we learn to just accept everyone is different and unique and beautiful we'll all be much happier. I will NEVER tell a religious person they're wrong for believing what they believe, because that brings me to their level of judgment, something I ask for them not to do to me. I will be ok with or without their approval and so will everyone else. I love women, I love how they smell, feel, taste... Everything. I will always be a lesbian whether you pray for me or not. This song truly moved me and gave me hope for our community. We don't have to yell, curse, or degrade them back because when we do it proves we are everything we try to tell them we're not. apparently God doesn't make mistakes, he made all of us in his image, every straight person, black person, white person, Hispanic, Asian, and every gay, lesbian and transgender... I consider myself a christian, and I believe there is nothing more christian than marginalized people standing up for their right to exist and love. The new testament speaks of love for your fellow man, for respect and decency in the treatment for others, for strength in solidarity against oppression. Even if being a homosexual is a sin, and I'm not terribly convinced it is, it wouldn't matter. Everyone sins, that's a huge part of being human. It was hypocrisy Jesus preached against, as well as greed and foolishness. I believe its the homosexuals and the marginalized groups jesus would stand up for today.

This was truly inspiring to watch. It's definitely opened my eyes a lot to how much hate the LGBT community gets. Keep on standing up for what you guys believe in. I'm a catholic and I'd like to think God would accept anyone no matter of sexuality the old testament is called old for a reason with new times things change for the better and so must the rest of the world.
