Everyone. Please note that AK Real Color paints are no longer compatible with X-20A acrylic thinner as I showed in the video. AK has changed the formula without warning anyone so now the Real Color line are only pure lacquer paints. I am making a video investigating AK's tendency to change the formulations of products without warning. This is an issue with the Real Color line, and the newer 3rd Generation Acrylics.
I think the camo pattern looks stellar Evan! It’s funny as our camo looks pretty similar and I’m glad you chose the 3 tone as it really ties our videos together nicely. That new AK steel colour looks really good. The bare steel on the road wheels looks perfect. The hand painted insignia was a nice touch as well. Nice job

This is a camo pattern i want to try myself in the not too far future - i have a Vallejo camouflage set for Soviet Tanks and my choice would be a T-26 or T-28. Very good demo as always buddy :)

I love this cam scheme, it looks great on Russian armour. I have had a go with those AK Real Color paints, including the protective 4BO, it turned out a lot darker than on your video, I ended up going over it with a lighter Tamiya acrylic.
Nice work. If you were going to present a "blown hatch" on a panzer how would you do it? This would occur when a shell penetrated the hull and exploded. I expect, but don't know, that the hatch would be bent and possibly one hinge blown up and out. I thought of slightly melting the hatch and gluing that to the hull. Any thoughts or possibly a video? Anyway, thanks.
The hatches are heavy armour plate, usually 40+mm thick (1.5 inches or so). I think it's most likely that the hinge would simply fail and the whole hatch would pop off; I don't think the hatch would bend. Armour plates in the same situation usually fail/break at the weld.
My local shop just got some of those Real Colors paints in, I may pick some up myself, never airbrushed anything but acrylics before so it'll be interesting.
It was in my badger 105 patriot so I think 0.5? Stynylrez will often dry on the needle, so you have to just wide it with lacquer thinner once in a while.
Very nice! I'd love to see how a complicated scheme like this gets highlights and low-lights with oil paints. But I know winter camo is going on top of this so, =p Also the gun metal color on the wheels just seems almost too shiney. Is there a way to make them look more like bare steel and less polished to a nice sheen? I worked on heavy equipment and the rollers were raw steel, but only a bit of shine here and there as rocks and sand would damage the wheels too much for a shine.
I know this isn't exactly the best place to ask this, but have you ever considered doing a product review for the vallejo weathering effects? I've got streaking grime and engine grime but I'm, uh, pretty new to weathering in general P.S. your tutorial vids on that have helped immensely, I have some amount of direction now
Hello Derek. I have a few of the Vallejo mud effects are they've very good. However I don't have their streaking grimes and washes...I think they're acrylics and acrylics aren't great for those two techniques as they dry very fast. But I should give them a try just to see!

I have run out of hairspray lol and I didn't want to buy more since I had gotten set up to paint. I also ended up using it on my Tiger too which I painted at the same time...
The chipping fluid seemed to work pretty well... haven’t used it but from what I’ve seen in a bunch of build videos it seems to be harder to avoid large chips? Yours came out great... maybe a few on the fender were a little on the big side.
After chipping my Tiger 1, it does seem like chipping fluid can give you fine chipping. Though I do have a fair amount of experience with it so I know how to use the brush to get the chipping looking nice and fine. I'd say that HS is a little more forgiving and easier to work with than chipping fluid. Kind of like how using Tamiya paints and not water-based paints can also help to make it easier to get fine chipping..."can"...it's not required, since you can get nice results with a little more care in using water-based paints too.

Uhh, not 100% certain, but I used a Badger 105 for the green and then a Badger Khrome for the camouflage. So I think .5 and .3 needles, respectively.

What do you spray One Shot with Evan? I heard it clogs up 0.2 nozzles and needs something like 0.4 with high psi?

That can be helpful if you want to plan out the scheme more precisely beforehand.

I used chipping fluid in my video and it worked great. I was able to get some micro chipping in areas.

I used a Badger 105 for the primer and green and a Badger Khrome for the brown and tan camouflage. They're really good airbrushes.

This is 1/35 scale. 1/48 is also popular since it's a little smaller, though you don't have as many kit options.
