I don’t get why it matters if people are “boring” off stage if they literally kill it on stage. I mean the cellist were amazing and got people cheering; doing a modern take on classical instruments. These guys aren’t trying to be influencers in LA, they want to perform and have fun
I agree, if the audience thought the performance was boring then they wouldn’t cheer and clap. I feel like if you’re lacking a tragic background or extreme circumstance then you’re not interesting enough. At that point, it has nothing to do with talent.

Because talent and hard work are not enough to make you a superstar. To get to that 0.01% of entertainers it eventually comes down to charisma and personality on top of everything else
@@HakaiKaien that may be so, but with classical music, it’s more about your talent unlike with pop stars and social media influencers. They’re not meant to influence their followers into doing what they are and more about just having them enjoy their work
Sharon is one of the best judges on the show, she never forgets how to be human and she always scolds Louie and Simon like two kids, I love her, she is a wonderful person.

As a retired entertainer and teacher/coach, it's imperative that an instructor, judge or anyone in a casting role, needs to be direct and at times brutally honest. The entertainment industry sees you only as a commodity, and from the walk-on to the household word, babys no one. That said, no one has ever walked away from an audition dais that I was on without getting some advice, many even signing up for my coaching. Louie's childish nonsense accomplishes nothing except to foreword people on national television that he's a complete fool.
To be honest, if I sound bad I’d rather the judges tell me straight forward. I hate it when people treat me like a child and can’t be up front with me. I’d rather the judges tell me the truth, harsh or not. If they tell me the truth and are straight forward with me, then I’d like that more
She really impressed me with her attitude. She isn't just some diva like a lot of judges. She can see clearly people as...people. Really big props for that!

I don't understand why Howie says "you have talent" and then proceeds to give the acts such harsh no's. Is talent not what the show is about?? Why is he trying to throw away clear talent just because he doesn't like something? He's such a put-down compared to all of the other judges, Simon included, and it's so sad to see sometimes
Because talent doesn't always equal success. I see people playing in bars all the time, they clearly have talent. But that doesn't mean they should be making albums or playing on the radio. It's more than just being "talented."
They want that spark that makes a person extra, not just talented. There's hundreds of thousands of fantastic singers out there, but only one Beyonce. They're looking for someone who can generate massive star power like that.

How can Howie be a judge if he only looks at where he's interested in? He should be objective and think about if the person is talented and could become an artist.
Is there an argument to say that true objectivity in art criticism is impossible, and therefore the only honest critique is to speak entirely from the heart, with all your tastes and biases present, rather than framing your thought through the prism of what you think an objective take would be?
@Recap I think one can be objective. For example, I cannot stand the sound of Om Kolthoum, who is an Egyptian treasure of voice and music. I recognize she is extremely talented and has one of the most powerful singing voices I have ever heard, yet I cannot stand listening to her. It irritates me. So, one can recognize talent outside of one's taste. But, Howie is great. I'm sure he supported many artists who he would personally not listen to or watch. He just has his grinch days ahaha
Because music is subjective. I think Taylor Swift is unoriginal, a weak writer and has a terrible voice. I have no idea why people like her, I would never put her through if I was a judge. Clearly, her weird cult disagrees.

Omg the little girl singing the Bond song...*gasp* I couldn't believe she was on this list when she started performing. She reached down into my gut and ripped out a piece of my soul, and showed it to me just to remind me I still had one. Yeah, holy crap. They had to have been scripted to pile on that way, because she's amazing.

@@TalentRecapI do kind of agree slightly. I like the song, and her voice is amazing, but I think the issue was her accent didn't work nearly as good as the 'put a spell on you'. I would still say it was a fantastic performance, but if you HAD to give criticism, that would be it.
9:07, absolutely adorable. Howie can stick it! A good judge doesn’t use personal opinion. They are non biased and vote on talent and whey feel the majority of audiences would like, not their personal preferences. He’s so self absorbed.
One of the hardest instruments to play and they played to perfection. Simon Cowell’d comments were harsh, and total bullshit!

Absolutely. It says a lot that we had to go so far back for mean comments. It's really done a good job I think of taking a lot of the cruelty out of the show, and keeping the more deluded contestants off TV.

I personally think that only professional performing musicians should be judges. The reason for that is that they know what it takes to make it in the industry. They know if the performer, before them have the talent and the work ethic to make it in the music business. How they picked Howie is beyond me. I don't think Howie has ever done musical performance. Additionally I love what Dave Grohl said about these type of shows. If you are a garage band, and have a blast, and perform for the neighbourhood, and local gigs, who cares about musical competition. Music is art not a comptetion!
I think on shows like X-Factor and American Idol that makes sense. AGT isn't a strictly singing competition, though. It's any talent you have that can audition. So, it benefits from having people from across an entertainment spectrum. Like a ventriloquist and magician have won AGT along with a few singers. They have comedians, dance groups, extreme acts, circus performers, etc. Howie is on AGT, and so is Heidi Klum, who isn't a musician either (although I think she did some joke song with Snoop Dogg).
