I think the appeal in this game is a precise mix of realism and gameism; realistic enough to be cool, but gamey enough to be fun and accessible, with plenty of ways to tune it in either direction. And the devs seem to be sticking to that idea, which I love
Wait until you learn you can now actually apply cruiser rules in 1939 by approaching enemy merchants on surface and signaling them to get into lifeboats, before sinking them.
You can actually adhere to prize rules? That's freaking awesome! I still play SH3 with GWXOnealex, it really irks me that you can't do that. Now if only U-Boat would fix the crazy fast sinking times and some other realism issues and we'll have the perfect U-Boat sim.
@@timmy3822 Absolutely. All you need to do is check whether they are armed or not, then approach them as you would any neutral ship until you can interact with the ship. You'll tell them your intention to sink it, which will prompt them to head into their lifeboat. Then, you may sink the ship as you see fit (torpedo, dynamite, HE rounds, or deck gun).
@@timmy3822as someone who played sh3 with nygm/gwx id recommend you give this game another chance. I didnt like it all but after the beta release i am quite sure I won’t go back to sh3
@@timmy3822 currently on beta mods are being pumped out daily, a week ago a modder created a sinking overhaul for the ships which fixes your issue, definitely check out the workshop!
I've been watching for a while, and you really did well to teach me crew management... however, I think playing with contacts on really cheapens the game and the suspenseful experience. With contacts on you just essentially have all the data ready for you and you can shoot perfect. Even in chaotic situations you can just plug and chug... I'd enjoy see a no contacts play through also to see your approach to charting and dead reckoning... I also agreed with your choice not to do a guide until the actual release, given that the TDC was broken in several respects, and it still isn't perfect (in fact, a specific torpedo tube was firing 1 degree off which can really make the difference when shooting sub-optimal shots at distance...)
Dear Salted, this is really interesting, and i love to see you reacting to those new things in the game :-) Bonjour from France (i'm not far from some old WWII uboat facilities ;) )
Yeah, those railing were supposed to be that messed-up so gunner and loader could operate the aa-gun firing at all avaliable angles (if they were straight gunner would regularly stuck between the gun and the railing)
@@Lite_lySalted And is it really unstable ? Because i play the stable version with mods (uboat expanded), and it crashes a lot... so, why not using the beta
The update dropped, Salted streamed, and the people rejoiced.
looks like a type-2 C uboat used in coastal operations. I've tried all these other sub games but nothing will ever compare to SH3.

I absolutely don't not recommend using mods until the build becomes stable.

Is there a way to play my old saved games or do I just have to start from scratch?

I haven't played this since it dropped into early access. I think it's time to play. 👍
Have fun!
Is there another beta update? I have this from a month or so ago.
Nope, just got around to posting footage
How is it possible that you dont set everything on realism with all your knowledge.
I dont find 100% all that fun. Feels more like work lol
@@Lite_lySalted haha that is the best reason not to do it🤣
Only the first time before you leave the port is loading instantaneous
Also, take note there are no bulkheads in the type II
Yep
There's more than one type of uboat now so when you say uboats it's a bit less jarring.
Why would have been jarring before?
