4070 did not operate excursions with 2102 in 1968, this was in 1977. It operated excursions during 1968-1969 in the Chicago area for Dick Jensen. The locomotive was on loan to him and he had restored the locomotive in the CW&I 47th street roundhouse. From 1971-1973 4070 operated short excursions to the Conneaut Lake Park in Pennsylvania.
Thanks for the correction! I'll be sure I don't make a mistake like that again.
@@Buynot we all makes mistakes
I believe that yes you are right about the 6323s boiler expiring but I do believe I will have to read it again but in the grand trunk western evening before the diesel it says that 63 23 was also on lease on the new York central for excursion service and was owned and used by a historical society which is why I think it was stored in a roundhouse but then I think it was with 6323 and 0-8-0 8380 at the grand trunks Battle Creek shops and that 8380 and 6323 were both sold in the 80s to the Illinois railroad museum but other then that great video and I look forward to many of yours in the future I see you all over in other comment sections for trains and I think your content is great keep it up
Station Agent Productions my mistake this is an old ass comment I made without proper info or sources
While running excursions on GTW in 1960 and 1961, the 6323 did pull an excursion on NYC -- I believe it was in the summer of 1961. It was also featured on a TV commercial for the brand new 1962 Pontiac automobiles. I rode the engine's last excursion, September 17, 1961, Detroit to Bay City, Michigan, and return. A few days later, I believe just hours before its flues expired, the 6323 was put on regular Train 21 from Detroit to Durand and sent to the Durand roundhouse or boneyard. Shortly after that, a Detroit businessman, Fred Crewe, bought it and it was sent to the Detroit Terminal roundhouse where it sat for years, with, of course, the roundhouse burning on top of it. Mr. Crewe died, the engine went to someone else who I believe donated it to the Illinois Railway Museum in the 1980s.
You missed the GT excursions in Vermont. GT owned the Central Vermont which both were owned by CN. Some great shots and video floating around of those trips the GT locos are beautiful gleaming shining engines for those trips
Love that video I might help you with another steam excursion stars video
I just heard GTW 5030 was recently purchased by the Colebrookdale Railroad in Boyertown, Pennsylvania to be restored to operation.
Wow! That's great news!
GTW 5030 sits in a park in my hometown Jackson, Mi. Really hoping someday she gets restored, she looks decent aside from rust but there's no telling mechanically what's wrong.
@@StationAgentProductions how about this if the loco is done with a cosmetic they would go with regular restoration
Your wish has since been granted. 5030 is to be restored by the Colebrookdale Railroad.
@@blackbirdgaming8147 yes, I know! I'm excited, I was shocked when I found out but im happy knowing it will more than likely ride on the rails again one day
@@stonedperson97 Same here. I’m also glad that sister engine CN 5080 is to be restored in Canada. It certainly is an interesting time in steam preservation.
First comment and like! Great voice narration too! Keep it up on these AWESOME engines!
:)
@@Buynot Turn down the background music a notch or two so we can hear you better.
@@peoriavideosltd6822 Will do, thanks for the tip!
What’s with all the “Hacked my girl’s Instagram” memes?!
You mention Reading T-1 #2102, recently restored on the Reading & Blue Mountain. It came to GTW in 1969 for some excursion service.
Can you do a look back on Chinese Excursion engine? Thanks LJL
Great video worked for GTW and enjoyed the trip down memory lane
Glad you enjoyed! It must've been a fun railroad to work for!
@@Buynot Yes it was a great time with lots of memories, thanks again. I worked there for 12 years 1976-1988 my great uncle Leon Heinrich (Heiny) general yardmaster my Dad Ray Heinrich conductor (also called Heiny) and then me a brakeman they called Heiny Junior it was a family affair.
@@thegathering3322 Long live The Good Track Road!
4070 did run some Chicago area excursions before being bought by a combination of people associated with Midwest Chapter NRHS around 1970, including Ted Church, who split from the group in a dispute over ownership and helped form Lakeshore Chapter after that. 4070 ran on the CVL, leased to the group by the MRHF subsidiary of Midwest Chapter from the start of the Cuyahoga Valley Line in 1975, until Chessie/CSX filed abandonment on the line in 1985, and the National Park Service took over the line in 1986, resuming operation in 1987, until the end of the 1989, when deferred maintenance finally caught up with them. If you carefully watch video of the engine from the Fall of "89, you can hear a lot of running gear noise.
6325 was bought by Jerry Jacobson several years before it's 2001 revival to steam, and underwent a multi-year restoration at Morgan Run shops from a hulk and several gondolas of parts to a complete engine. It has suffered from nagging bearing problems that first surfaced around 2003, and sidelined it during the 2004 TrainFest. Jerry first saw 6323 during one of the farewell excursions in the late 1950s, so he was very familiar with them when the opportunity came up to buy 6325.
6326 may run again
6325 is at the age of steam round house
Do Canadian Pacific excursion engines next! I can give you information on each engine in know from the CP that tab excursions
Sorry for the delayed reply, but that sounds like a great idea! I'll get to work on that as soon as I can!
Oki
Buynot I'll be your support for helping each engines because there may be some CP engines that you might forget
2816 Productions Alright, thanks!
Here's a list of the CP engines that I already know of:
2816
2860
1201
1246
1278
1293
3716
2317
1077
2839
Buynot but you forgot CP 2811 (2816's sister that ran Excursions in the 60s but got scrapped)
I have an idea! do Japan steam locomotive excursions!
Someone needs to build a full size replica of GTW 5629 for the 100th anniversary of the GTW railroad in 2028. It will also have a top speed of 100MPH. And it can travel from Chicago to Toronto at speeds up to 100MPH and be painted gold for commemorate the 100th anniversary of the GTW Railroad. I'm planning to buy a full size replica of it along with U4Bs 6405 and 6407 (with painted blue and named Vinnie), 6319, 6322, a Streamlined GTW Pacific, and a streamlined U1-G 4-8-2 for the 100th anniversary of the GTW railroad in 2028 after I wrote a letter to Ross Rowland to restore and built replicas of the extinct GTW locomotives.
2:40 :'(
Yes baby i always bien wanted to know all about it
RIP
5629
Could you do one of these for the Norfolk & Western Railroad?
A bit late on this, but the actual reason for the scrapping of 5629 was because Jensen wanted to sue metra and and that plan fell flat on its face.
I Like the glenn miller music!
I figured it's the kinda music fits best when talking about steam locomotives!
Metra made the worst decision ever but they had no choice! Wish Time machines existed.
i wish i could go back in time to sya these engine ffrom my country, they would make canada more populated with steam engines(currently theres like, 15 egnines)
5629 Should Not Have Been Scrapped.
Damn Metra
Railfanman42 yup, and that’s why metra is high in drugs
My guy it was Jensen not metra
We will never forget 5629 srecw you Metra
‘‘Twas Jensen laddy
I can't find the images of 6319 and 6322 on google. can you help me buynot please?
Richard Jensen Says Goodbye! in (C) 1992!
1991 from what I heard. After the whole deal with Metra I'll bet his health declined faster than would've normally.
I HATE HOW THEY JUST SCRAPPED 5629! LIKE COME ON A**HOLES GIVE IT A BREAK ITS A PIECE OF AMERICAN HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyways love this series liked every single 1 :D
.
This just speaks for itself
we all miss 5629
thankfully we have 5632 gtw
Poor 5629 :(
Btw #5629 looks like NKP 587
Sure was
coincidence much?
because they’re both USR a locomotives and they have a similar boiler
That’s the 4th time you mentioned 6325...
News story on the planned restoration of the GTW 5030;

5629 and Jensen had it coming ngl.
Y'all being 5629 and I'm laughing.
Make the music quieter or your narration louder please.
Is gtw Canadian because i cant work it out even know that there is a maple leaf on there symbol
GTW is American, but it was owned by Canadian National. CN liked to keep their overall branding and engine designs similar across all of their subsidiaries, hence the maple leaf on GTW's logo. This could also be seen on CN's other subsidiaries such as the Central Vermont and the Duluth Winnipeg & Pacific.
because I Think It's time for metra to Leave!
