    Great Video! i would like to mention, Ross leased CP 1278 for excursions for his High Iron Company, when the excursions became almost too much for 1278, he struck the deal for 759, 759 pulled multiple excursions for HIC, and then starred in the GSCL. And also, on September 12 and 13th 1970, 759 pulled multiple Excursions over Horseshoe Curve. 759 remained in Ross's hands until 1973.

    I would absolutely love to see Nickel Plate 170 back in steam. I don't think there are any 4-6-4 Hudsons operational anywhere in North America and I think we could use more engines with elephant ear smoke detectors.
    And I also have a brass model of an nkp Hudson I'd live to have authentic sounds for but there's only one recording of the sounds of the L1 Hudsons.

    • @patrickwamsley3284
      @patrickwamsley3284 3 года назад +2

      I have an audio file of that 1958 recording and I believe there is a clear enough sample of the whistle to program into a decoder but you can't hear the bell, which isn't so bad as it's easier to hear the bell of a non-operating engine than its whistle.
      The recording is from Fast Freight on the Nickel Plate, an audio recording of trains on the nkp circa 1958. The sound of the Hudson is from NKP 175 recorded from the express freight boxcar at the head end of the train.

    if Nickel Plate Road No. 587 Was Purchased By the Strasburg Railroad In 1987 She would've been the new 2-8-2 Mikado locomotive for tourist excursions and prr 1223 and prr 7002 would've been scrapped in 1989 and NPK 587 would operate along with Gwr 90 Cn 89 Cn 7312 and N&W 475 on the Strasburg Railroad in Pennsylvania and she was needed an overhaul in 2006 and repairs and return in 2008 and in 2012 she would tripleheaded hauling the photo freight train with gwr 90 and N&W 475 and in 2019 587 and 475 would meet 611 in 2019 2021 2022 until 2023 were 611 would leave the Strasburg Railroad for her final excursion and would arrive in Virginia and as of 2024 NPK 587 gwr 90 Cn 89 N&W 475 but sadly cn 7312 was out of service back in 2009 but 587 90 89 and 475 are now operational on the Strasburg Railroad to pull passenger tourist excursion trains and now NPK 587 is now operational and is now wearing a Baltimore & Ohio Nathan 6 Chime Whistle but back in 2013 she would doublehead with Southern Railway No. 630 On Norfolk Southern 21st century steam program but during the excursion 587 was wearing a prr 3 chime while 630 is wearing a cofg 6 Chime Whistle were is at the tvrm along with Southern Railway 4501 which is restored in 2014 and 587 is the only survivor 2-8-2 Mikado locomotive today on the Strasburg Railroad in 2024.

    Berkshires 755 and 763 (along with UP 8444, N&W 611, and ATSF 2925) were all proposed candidates for Ross Rowland's American Freedom Train, however none of this 5 engines were used, though reasons why are probably pretty obvious from the surface level. The biggest being 611 and 8444 were the only operational locomotives, and it would be a lot of money to restore any of the other 3 engines
