This video was a huge help, thank you. My driver's side window was working sporadically... in my case, the two little white plastic pieces you see in your right hand at 2:43 fell out and were just sitting in the plastic assembly. All I had to do was re-insert them and re-assemble. No cleaning or scrubbing. The window works like new now. Thank you too for mentioning that it's a T6 torque head bit.
Vouch - worked very well; thought it was a bad motor, fuses, list goes on. Unbelievable this was the source: - windows go down / wouldn't go up - seemed like a dead motor - this resolved all 4 windows
I was able to get the passenger roll-down from the driver's controls (always worked ok on the passenger door switch) with the tools I already had on hand with this video. Thank you so much!
I took it apart, as explained in the video, cleaned the switch contacts with sandpaper and it fixed the problem. Saved myself $250 buying a new one. Thanks for your help!
Thank you so much for the excellent video. It worked perfectly. Had been driving for a year without being able to put my driver window down because it wouldn't come back up. Now it works perfectly. Thank you so much. 5 stars
My Mazda3 had a problem with the drivers window switch, which is completely different to the other 3 switches, because of the 'Auto' function. The drivers window switch has 4 nylon posts that push upon a silicon plate with 5 tiny copper contact points. One of the points had almost no copper left on it. I've taken it apart, cleaned it all with a can of compressed air and electronic contact spray. Fingers crossed that its fixed, I'm yet to reinstall it. My mechanic told me I needed a new assembly and referred me to a company that wants almost $600au for the part lol. Ive seen the same part from online sellers, brand new but aftermarket, for $60au. Goes to show how some mechanics and dealerships RIP people off!
Was having issue from main control, would go down but not up....so used the cleaner and works perfect! It was a little bit of a pain to remove the square black covers for each switch....but it works! I'm going to do the same for all other 3 switches! Thank u so much for this video....total cost $5 for the cleaner : )
Worked for me too. I wasn't sure I could pop that last black plastic cover off of the individual switch itself. Thanks for convincing me it just needed a little more aggressive prying.
Such stuff are so helpful bro. we tend to spend money on some old things that needs small tlc. Just opened mine and was doing the small scratch thing like you and I came here to check that I was doing something someone might know about more. Glad yours worked. Will let you know how it goes shortly. Thanks for helping others buddy
This is the REPLY that I made to the video maker. Hey thanks for all of the help, but I dont think that you need to go that far into it. I didn't pop off that little square black cover and I think that you risk breaking stuff needlessly. I took apart the main switch body and then flooded all 4 switches with electrical parts cleaner and then all switches worked flawlessly 1OO% !!!!!! But hey thanks for the help to get me that far into the switch.

Thank you for this very clear and useful video! Your explanation was great and wonderful camera work. It also worked for me - but I got stuck removing the black cover. Absolutely couldn't do it and was starting to bend and chip off pieces, so I did what another comment here suggested and sprayed it with contact cleaner. Worked for fixing 2 out of the 3 that don't work. I might go back in and try to pry it off. Any other tips on how to do that without demolishing it appreciated. Thank you Jacob Turner!
Of coarse my drivers window stopped working, and it's a completely different switch, it has push pads like a TV remote. An emery board or folded over sand paper is the best thing to clean contacts.
Hi. For my 08 mazda 3.. The mechanic did some wire reconnections (grounding?) on the front passenger side to have control over its own window coz the central switch lost control over it. Now that i have bought a new master lock/switch, i'd like to know how i can put the wires of the front passenger side back to its default connection..thank you.
BMXin702 you should see 4 little holes/insertions around the base of the black boxes. Use a small flathead to lift and separate from there. You want to pull it ever so slightly away.
My passenger side won’t work. It won’t work even if I use the passenger side switch. I tried replacing the motor and the switch on the passenger side. That did not work. Is this worth trying for me? I figure a new switch on the passenger side should at least work. Why would it be both switch that don’t work going up? Window goes down and not up.
It’s possible if the wiring is all run to the main switch and not directly from switch to motor. I guess that is possible. It doesn’t take much time so I would give it a shot.
What if it is the front driver side window? The switch looks different here? Are we still just cleaning the contact? Mine goes down easily the only comes up after I pull up on the switch multiple (sometimes up to 10 times). Thoughts?
I can’t remember what that switch looked like. I remember it was different because it had the auto up and down feature. However, it should still be a contact issue if it does eventually work after a couple tries.
Jacob Turner ya it had these tiny little gold discs. There were 5 of them but it seemed like only 2 of them had use. I did like you said and scraped them a bit which didnt seem to remove anything they looked super clean already. But I also pulled the rods out that press the discs repositioned them a little made sure everything seemed to be where it should be and then once reinstalled it worked well both up and down. Who knows, but at the very least playing with it got it back to normal. Thanks for the info! My gf has the same model as me and same issue so Ill try on hers as well. 👍

One of my switches wasn't working at all so I did this (to both contacts) and now it works like new!! Thanks man!!!!

Jacob, I did just like you showed and it fixed my problem as well. Thanks for the tutorial!
Keith Janelli glad it worked out!

Perfect. Worked like new. Thanks again.
Worked like a champ. Thanks! The hardest part was getting the black cover off the switch to get to the contact points.
Randy Morlen glad it helped you out.

I agree! I was afraid was going to break them
Thanks for the great video. Had the same problem for months and just did this and its back to perfect working condition!
Just did this for my 2011 Mazda 3 it works like a charm now. Thanks!

Thanks for the video. Saved me money! Worked perfectly on my drivers side window that wldnt go up on my 04 Mazda 3.
exactly what's happening with my car and the possible fix I'm looking for, thanks Jacob
You are a life saver! I did this and it fixed my switch. Thanks a lot.
Ok I'm going to try this on a 2011 Mazda 3. Wish me luck! Saludos desde Guatemala.
Will try it within the week, hope it will work, i suspect that it will, thank you for this helpful video.
You're my hero. Was about to dump $50 in a used one!
Thank you good sir! figured it was a part that just needed a little TLC.... thanks for the super quick fix!
glad it worked out for you
Thanks. I wasn't sure about taking the switch cover off to access the contacts.

Good on you man. Thanks for the help.

i got the same problem in my 2013. the rear right window rolls down but not up. I'll give it a shot. Thank you
Thank you!! I tried this and as many others it work as well. You really helped!

This was my exact issue!! Thanks so much for posting!
Sweet. You just saved me $120 from Rockauto. Hopefully anyway. I will give this a shot.
I think I have the some probem. I am going to give it a go and do the same that you did. Thanks for the information.
I had the same problem, Thanks, your video helped me fixed it :)
I'm very confused as to how to get the black box off that is covering the contacts. Does anyone have any information for me? Thank you so much
BMXin702 you should see 4 little holes/insertions around the base of the black boxes. Use a small flathead to lift and separate from there. You want to pull it ever so slightly away.
Thank you for passing along
How did you pop the cover off?
By using a very small flat head on the ends of the cover. I think there were very small tabs.
Thank you for posting that, I am going to try on my switch.
Does anyone have any tips on how to remove the square black covers on the switch? I feel like I'm going to snap something.
I used a very thin and small flat head screw driver.
Worked perfectly. Thank you
How long does it take?
My passenger side won’t work.
It won’t work even if I use the passenger side switch. I tried replacing the motor and the switch on the passenger side. That did not work. Is this worth trying for me? I figure a new switch on the passenger side should at least work. Why would it be both switch that don’t work going up?
Window goes down and not up.
I guess what I’m asking is will this problem have an affect on the other switch now working?
It’s possible if the wiring is all run to the main switch and not directly from switch to motor. I guess that is possible. It doesn’t take much time so I would give it a shot.
@@swavye that is very possible. I will try it.
i can't wait to try this. thank you
Hope it takes care of your problem
So awesome. Thanks for posting. :)
