We're back again with another reaction to a performance by Diana Ankudinova! Today, we're checking out her interpretation of the song Personal Jesus by Depeche Mode. This song has been covered a number of times by different groups/artists - but Diana's version is one of the only ones I've personally heard that adds in extra vocal sections which really showcase the talent of the person singing. I also really loved the very 80s-esque outfit she had on!

If you want to hear very different vocals from Diana you should listen to "Help Me" from this show - a humorous tango! Or "The Little Prince" - a children's song. Having to sing songs in 9 different genres produced a good variety of styles. Or her cover of "Havana" which she recorded at her home during the Covid lockdown. She has developed quite a catalogue for an 18 year old.
🇬🇧Its been vamped up into a slightly darker caberet flavoured version Molly.. her outfits a reference back to the 80s New romantic styles....but this was going into the following Goth period .
I think its the first time ive seen Diana asked to act even slightly vampy.😉🤭
The girl won this round and competition. And yes her unique vocals gave her the chance to shine. Everyone had to do a song from each genre each week.
What is fun is given she said she was feeling dead on her feet doing this ...so she didnt see her performance till at home.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this the first female version of Personal Jesus? Really interesting version! I have two comments. Firstly, it seemed to me that Diana brought theatricality to her version. This was expressed not so much in the scenery and choreography as in the fact that the song now has a drama: there is an introduction, a climax and an epilogue. The result was a mini-play (as is usually the case with Diana), in which she performes several different roles. I have not seen this in other covers. Secondly, it didn't seem to me that Diana was doing something purposeful here to show the possibilities of her voice. She is never preoccupied with such task, and if she uses the strengths of her vocals, then it is always subordinated to the artistic goals. This is a distinctive feature of a master who knows so many techniques and is so free in choosing the right technique at the moment that it would not occur to him to highlight any beautiful technique if it is not needed for his tasks.
