Woman in the Dunes will always be Teshigahara’s remembered film as many film critics consider it a masterpiece, and it still being talked about in college film courses.
Great list!! 👍 I've seen only his documentary about Antonio Gaudí. It was in class for a schooltrip to Barcalona 1997. Thanks for this list. Should check them out if i find them :) And thanks again for the Kdrama "Fight For My Way". Tonight watching eps.10&11. It's absolutely funny as hell. Kim Ji-won is awesome and adorable :))
Seen most of his films, definitely one of the best Japanese New Wave directors. Agreed on choices #1 and #2. My list: 5) Man Without a Map (1968) 4) Tokyo 1958 (1958) 3) Pitfall (1962) 2) The Face of Another (1966) 1) Woman in the Dunes (1964)
Nice list. I think that "Woman in the Dunes", "The Face of Another", and "Pitfall" would make most people's Top 5, with the other two films being "wild cards."
I got to know about Teshigahara because of the top 10 best movies list from Andrei Tarkovsky, I very recently watched Woman In The Dunes, The Face Of Another and Pitfall loved every movie, I'll be watching the others very soon. I would put in this order today: Woman in The Dunes, The Face Of Another and Pitfall.

That's no surprise that it's being taught in classes. Such a good movie.

Woman in the Dunes is amazing and a great companion piece to the novel
I should read the novel someday.
