Yes Tom Waits! A little more of him is what we need. "Eggs and Sausage" "Small Change", "Heart Attack and Vine", "Shore Leave", "Diamonds on My Windshield", "Way Down in the Hole(LIVE)", "St Christopher LIVE", "Nocturnal Emission Pt 1", "Blue Valentine", "Romeo is Bleeding" "Going Out West", "Such a Scream" to name only a few.....
Tom Waits is hands down one of my favorite performers to ever lurk from the shadows. I’ve been obsessed with him since I was 8. My aunt gave me his album Nighthawks at the Diner for my 16th birthday that she got for her 16th birthday. He’s so eclectic and unusual but genius more than most.
Tom Waits....love his songs...always takes you to the back alley ways & seedy bars & can take you back in time of the great depression...hobo blues & preaching it like it should be preached!!
I went to a Tom Waits concert in Boston in around '98 or '99 on this tour - Beacon Theater. One of the greatest shows I've ever seen. No one performs like Tom Waits! He started the show with the band on the stage, and he came through the lobby doors in to the theater with that megaphone and pockets full of glitter he would toss as he made his way to the stage. I laughed and laughed at his sillines, I cried at his most beautiful heartwrenching songs, I stood transfixed throughout. I was so amazingly broke and in debt at that point in my life, but I am so glad I went even further in to debt to score a ticket! Ended up declaring bankruptcy a couple months later anyway - should have charged a BUNCH more shows! LOL!
Never saw him live darn it, but he did sit right behind me at an Elvis Costello concert. Just sitting alone. I was very proud that I didn’t keep turning around or gushing what a fan I was haha
The Tom Waits rabbit hole is deep, dark, challenging, and ultimately satisfying. Musically, Tom is a genre unto himself, one of, if not, the best storytellers ever. Also gives some amazing interviews and is a great actor. One of my all time favourite people.
Not only one of my favorite songs, but just the brilliance that very few might have ever thought of, using the megaphone to sing into the mic. Right up there with his percussion mania like taking a dumpster, hanging six bits of sheet metal in it and hitting it with a sledgehammer. Love him!
I love his concert film "Big Time", it's actually several concerts stitched together. He is an amazing live performer and I am so sad I never got to see it, except in recording.
Tom waits is my absolute musical favourite, and if anyone hasnt seen him act hes genius (7 pshycopaths) with sam rockwell, excellent. And musically just watch any of his many live sessions on the dave letterman show. Tom waits was asked to perform on dave letterman show more than any other act. And on his last ever show Tom sang..... Take one last look. Check it out.
His song KENTUCKY AVENUE is about growing up with his buddies and his best friend who was in a wheelchair. Made me cry the first time I heard it... so beautiful.
I love Tom. He has the most "affected", as they say, Voice around, Also the Most Original. And absolutely the most wonderful lyrics. A real showman. He has been in several movies like Dracula and the Book of Eli. And a lot of others.
Never heard this one, never saw a singer using a megaphone in front of the mic, for that matter. Overall, an interesting mix of song & delivery. Good one, out of the ordinary & outside the box, just as I like it ✌
Try his 'Grapefruit Moon' or 'innocent when you dream'. I love his whole deal... Or check out his old girlfriend Ricki Lee Jones. Her cover of "Something Cool" is the most amazing performance EVER
The whole time you were saying he had to raise the mic stand, I was thinking, "No, not really!" Leave it to Tom to break out the megaphone to sing a song. The great thing about that too, is that he started doing that stuff just when CDs were peaking in popularity, and everyone was looking for cleaner and clearer sound. In his usual fashion, Tom went the opposite direction and muddied up his sound even more!
I'd like to say seeing Waits in concert is a once in a lifetime experience but I've seen him 5 times. Try reacting to "make it rain." Or "Jack and Neal"
"Heart of Saturday Night", "Fumblin' with the Blues", "I Never Talk to Strangers" are some of my favorites, but I am a hard core Waits fan and love most anything he does. Anything off of Rain Dogs c/d.....its his lyrics and dissonant musical style.
Ahhh...*looks over at wife* a tear in her eye,she got to see Leonard Cohen a few years back before he died, Tom Waits is still on HER bucket list! TKS man a lot of RUclipsrs don't do Waits.
Jethro Tull 'Wind Up':Well, you can excommunicate me on my way to Sunday school And have all the bishops harmonize these lines I don't believe you You had the whole damn thing all wrong He's not the kind you have to wind up on Sundays
As weird, eccentric, and wonderful as most Tom Waits songs are, this man wrote a song I insist be played at my funeral. Look up "Shiver Me Timbers". It's a 'weird' song for him because it's rather straight forward and very beautiful... but beyond that, I'd suggest anything by Tom Waits. Not a suggestion for your channel, but rather a suggestion for any and all Waits fans, watch the film Smoke. The movie ends with "Auggie's Christmas Story" during the credits with Tom Waits' "Innocent When You Dream" playing throughout. Great film with a fantastic ending.
I would love to see a reaction to Irish Singer/Songwriter Declan O'Rourke signing his song " Be brave and Believe." Live from Whelan's. He has an incredible voice. You would be the first reaction to his music.
My favorite lyric from this song, that may or may not get through from this performance, has to be: When the weather gets rough and it's whiskey in the shade It's best to wrap your savior up in cellophane He flows like the big muddy but that's okay Pour him over ice cream for a nice parfait
who is Jeremy? he seems to have the same taste of music like me. plz check out the live version of Make it Rain. you will fuckin love his performance on that one too. Tom Waits is one of those who has very beautiful live performances, and all of them are pretty much different from their studio version.
Look look! Go back to the paused screen at end video. It looks like Nick Cave an the Bad Seeds!!! On the right down two? You don't know it but you've heard Red Right Hand in a few movie's. It takes GONADS of steel to listen to Stagger Lee to the end so thanks for that.
Tom Waits....love his songs...always takes you to the back alley ways & seedy bars & can take you back in time of the great depression...hobo blues & preaching it like it should be preached!!

Both versions of Diamonds On My Windshield are great
Blue Valentines has a special place in my heart
So many great and totally different versions of eggs and sausage, love that song

Tom Waits is the shit man. I always liked this live performance
He's also freaking hilarious!
Oooh, Tom Waits! NICE!

You Lucky bastard
I went to 3 of those shows courtesy of Joey down at friend street tickets.
I saw Tom Waits when he opened for Frank Zappa. I've loved him ever since. Thanks for this.
That had to have been an amazing show.
WOW Lucky You!!
Never saw him live darn it, but he did sit right behind me at an Elvis Costello concert. Just sitting alone. I was very proud that I didn’t keep turning around or gushing what a fan I was haha
I saw that tour. I always loved Frank but I sure enjoyed Tom, as well.
Tom Waits is truly one of the greats
I love that you covered Tom Waits. Thank you from deep down in my soul.

I purposely saved the best for last in your series of videos tonight. I Love Tom Waits as a musician, and just plain multitalented artist.
Glad you loved it! I haven't let you down yet haha
Got other Waites in the wings?
Tom is great, I saw him playing with Roy Orbison in Black and White Nights. Great 🔥
"Tommy The Cat" by Primus. Tom is the voice of tommy the cat on the studio version. It's awesome
I did not know that! That's my favorite primus song, and tom waits is an all time favorites. Thanks for the knowledge Joseph!
Another artist whom I adore also use a megaphone during live performances: Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse/Ugly Casanova.
You gotta do Heart Attack and Vine live. His vocals are nuts on that track
Always love to see a Tom Waits reaction! The 'immaculate confection' is a great gag
Tom Waits has been a favorite of mine since 78' Just love his voice his work is wonderful. Big Joe and phantom 309 one of my all time favs
Tom waits is my absolute musical favourite, and if anyone hasnt seen him act hes genius (7 pshycopaths) with sam rockwell, excellent. I don't understand why this is my favorite Waits track.. I just love it so much. The raw expression in this video is just peak Waits 😅
I was lucky to catch a screening of his concert film "Big Time" in a small arthouse theater...
Tom Waits is out of his mind in the very best way possible. I am so here for it!
Man you are all over the place! Im digging it!
Heartattack and vine, Mr siegal , Dead and lovely , Gun street girl , Ol 55 , Circus ..... Are just some other amazing songs :)
Holy fuck you're picking some great requests. Keep it up.
His song KENTUCKY AVENUE is about growing up with his buddies and his best friend who was in a wheelchair. Made me cry the first time I heard it... so beautiful.
I love Tom fuckin Waits
I love Tom. He has the most "affected", as they say, Voice around, Also the Most Original. And absolutely the most wonderful lyrics. A real showman. He has been in several movies like Dracula and the Book of Eli. And a lot of others.
He made a “sort of” concert movie, Big Time, that’s fantastic.
Never heard this one, never saw a singer using a megaphone in front of the mic, for that matter. Overall, an interesting mix of song & delivery. Good one, out of the ordinary & outside the box, just as I like it ✌
🔥🔥🔥🔥 this was wild, I was thoroughly impressed
Try his 'Grapefruit Moon' or 'innocent when you dream'. I love his whole deal... Or check out his old girlfriend Ricki Lee Jones. Her cover of "Something Cool" is the most amazing performance EVER
Yes! Grapefruit Moon is one of my favorites
If only someone would react to Rickie Lee Jones! She’s got a new memoir that just came out
Quality
This is a fabulous performance, inspired by the street preachers that used to stand on street corners and harangue crowds.
I may be wrong but I think he did the Moon Walk.

Enjoy Toms "circus" and "dont go
into THAT barn" you might even get
to "make it rain" 😁
"Heart of Saturday Night", "Fumblin' with the Blues", "I Never Talk to Strangers" are some of my favorites, but I am a hard core Waits fan and love most anything he does. Anything off of Rain Dogs c/d.....its his lyrics and dissonant musical style.

Super Dope !!! You missed both confetti throws !!!
Check out his song Hang on St. Christopher, awesome song!
In line with this one would be “Down in the hole”
If you want to hear a real blues holler from Tom, check out 'Jesus Gonna Be Here'.
Jethro Tull 'Wind Up':Well, you can excommunicate me on my way to Sunday school
And have all the bishops harmonize these lines
I don't believe you
You had the whole damn thing all wrong
He's not the kind you have to wind up on Sundays

Since you like songs with stories, you should check out Murder in the Red Barn. It's not a big hit but you'll probably dig it.
Look look! Go back to the paused screen at end video.
It looks like Nick Cave an the Bad Seeds!!! On the right down two?
You don't know it but you've heard Red Right Hand in a few movie's.

Eggs and Sausage, must include the intro
I’ve done that song family, unbelievable song
Tom Waits is straight out of vaudeville. Definitely worth doing a deep dive into his back catalogue.
I highly recommend "Everything Goes To Hell".
Teez! Comments turned off on Genesis!
Please Listen to Tom waits - ol55 amazing song!
Thinking about requesting a pack of four songs in German....
Beth Hart does a great cover of this one too.
Tom Waits....love his songs...always takes you to the back alley ways & seedy bars & can take you back in time of the great depression...hobo blues & preaching it like it should be preached!!
