Thank you for reacting to my request! I just wanted to get some play for Tom. He is a Hall of Famer...someone perhaps not mainstream but HIGHLY respected in the industry. This guy has a catalogue! You're right he is a story teller.....not many can paint a picture like he can. This was Waits at a younger age...still going. "Such a Scream", Chocolate Jesus", "Spare Parts ll", "Downtown", "Eggs n Sausage", "Way Down in the Hole", "Jersey Girl", "Small Change" soooooo many more. Love your reactions and happy you got to this!
The way he can paint a picture with words never fails to amaze me. What a songwriter.
Greatest artist of the 20th century...
One of many songs I love by my favorite artist, Mr. Waits. He's a man of many voices and moods, from his early love songs to his raucous newer tunes. No matter what style of music you like, Tom has done it all.
this guy's voice sounds like a cement mixer..he is so unique..and a brilliant songwriter..so glad to see this..Check out "Christmas card from a hooker in Minneapolis"..seen this dude about 20 times over the years and it gets better each time..
Thanks for reacting to the icon. Tom Waits is beyond musical classifications, he’s, simply put, an “artist”. Please react to his video of Hold On- stunning. Also, there’s a RUclips video of him performing “On the Nickel” on an Australian TV show in ‘72, it’s labeled “part 2”- one of my favorite performances of young Tom- in all his glory! And one other: Hope I don’t fall in love with you. Thanks- I love your channel!
Tom's a genius poet, singer/songwriter/storyteller. I've loved his music since the late '70's. So many favourite tracks, far too many to mention. Jazz/blues and great comedy mixed with fine social commentaries.
Tom is the BEST!! He will take you from dodgy allies in the depths of hell, to making you apprciate the beauty in a blade of grass. I love Tom!
You should definitely react to “Wrong side of the road”. It’s in the same album.
A movie Tom Waits was in - Bram Stoker's Dracula.
Song to react to by Tom Waits - In The Neighborhood, Sixteen shells from a thirty-ought-six, Goin' Out West, Hell Broke Luce, Hope I Don't Fall In Love With You and Downtown Train.
All right . Welcome to the Waits family. Such a range of work and style . PS Enjoy all ;your reactions.
Tom waits represent a lots of things, he is not just someone you comparing with your owne ref,, first he is a ref. sec he is a multi artist
That was really cool. I've loved Waits since I first heard him but he's definitely different and in a category all his own. Not everyone likes him on first listen (or, actually ever) so it was fun seeing you enjoy it. I'll sub and hope for more Waits. Lots of great suggestions in this thread I think you can pick about any of them and enjoy yourself.
And so the Gangsta rap was born, back in '78.
'Being surprised, being confused, just wandering and getting blaezed out of your socks by his performance!' It's magic that happened to lots of people since a long long time. Thnx for this contribution!
Really enjoyed your reaction. A few Waits songs that I think you'd enjoy.
Take It With Me
Time
Martha
A Little Rain
Hold On
Grapefruit Moon
I Never Talk To Strangers
Tom Waite, Every Time I Think of You
Different Tom, some blue eyed soul. He has a handful of good radio hits.
that would be John Waite.
I love Tom Waits.
Let him paint you another picture with Kentucky Avenue.
Whistling Past The Graveyard and Wrong Side Of The Road are also great. All three songs are from the BLUE VALENTINES album.
I would recommend Georgia Lee by Waits.
Either you hate him or you love him. I chose to LOVE him. Johnny Carson in the 70's introduced us over the television.
The 1993 Gary Oldman film, "Romeo is Bleeding" borrowed this song's title for it's own.
Tom Waits has a lot of different sounds/moods. If you like this track I'd try 'Make it Rain' (there's a good live video from Letterman), or 'Hoist that Rag'. or 'Jesus gonna be here'. For a different vibe - "A little rain" or "Time".
Scarey . ? Wow. Tom Waits voice carries uniquely dechevaled while he twists up mean oldschool hobo stories and potent poetry, and sings about them exceptionally. Mr Tom Break a leg.
The weirdness of Tom's lyrics is just amazing.--"Eyeball Kid". But he is great. I think my favorite is "Hoist that Rag", at least for now.
Tom does a nice cover of Somewhere from West Side Story on one of his early records.
Many of his songs are stories and he often talks about people living on the edge, but in the down and out way. He has a neat love song you might like.... It's a duet with Bette Midler called "I Never Talk to Strangers."
CHOCOLATE JESUS. David Letterman Late Show!
Lisen to Step Right Up or Heart Atack and Vine.
Listen to the live version of Cemetery Polka if you want a spooky carnival cabaret feel without the clowns.
"you know what i'm sayin, like, but um, like you know y'all.?"
Try the title track...Blue Valentine.
hey man thats first division so you'll play some more
“Chocolate Jesus”… spiritual 🙃🙂
m.ruclips.net/video/1wfamPW3Eaw/видео.html Sorry… here’s the video for Chocolate Jesus.
watch him play the devil in "the imaginarium of dr parnasus"
Ok now go str8 to Tom Waits
“ Hell broke Luce”
Tom Waits jockey full of boutbon
Storytelling is not a negative....
Great "Romeo is bleeding" is tough song about Toxic Masculinity !
For spooky I'd suggest...
What's he building in there?.
Great track From Tom.
The live version of Cemetery Polka for spooky.
Tom Waits was in the Movie 'The Book of Eli ' with Denzel . He played the Store Owner or Pawn Shop . haha
