Tom waits is literally a songwriting genius. Literally.
Those were days of roses poetry and prose... Martha, all I had was you and all you had was me... ✌🏼
“I’d rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy” Tom Waits
Champagne for my real friends, and real pain for my sham friends.
Tom Waits
But what I like is that he doesn’t mean it. And if he does, I don’t wanna know.
Tom Waits is a national treasure.
Like reading a great book.
His tunes will transport you.
tom waits is pure Americana
Finally, an actually based take from Jordan Peterson
He's got lots of those
I got to admit he has taste. Leonard Cohen? Johnny Cash?? Bob Dylan??? Tom Waits???? Solid taste
@@puncturedbicycle7264 He actually likes Bob Dylan? Damn, he may suck politically, but he's got an ear after my own heart.
@@awkwardukulele6077 ok so him liking Bob Dylan was Mandela effect on my part lmao. Politics aside, I’d easily give him the Aux
@@puncturedbicycle7264 As long as we don't sing along, hell yeah. I don't need "Underground" to turn into "The Rainbow Connection" with his Kermit-The-Frog pipes lmao.
Awww, this is so precious! ❤ I have never saw JP smiling like that!😊❤ This is love....that I'm feeling... 😊
I just started doing long haul trucking, which has given me the chance to listen to nearly all of Tom Waits albums over a short period of time. What a great writer and his songs are so theatrical.
Rattle big black bones

There's a big dark town

Can’t forget that hell broke luce
Waits and Letterman were in cahoots. They loved each other like brothers.
Wow! Something I unreservedly agree with JP about!
Right?! Proof that a stopped clock like JP is still right twice a day.
@@alexblank91 🤣, 1x I can cope with re JP Alex, but I'm definately not giving him 2!
Probably if you asked him what's your favourite lyrics of Tom, he would run to a laptop to look up one of Tom's popular songs.
@@MohammadObaid52 I think he's more honest than that - tho, 4 sure, he is one of the supreme artists at fooling himself - like every other, what passes for so many "right wing" thinkers today, the guy is seriously deluded once he gets out of his narrow area of expertise.
It's funny, cause all those right wing grifters like him cause he's all tough and manly in interviews with letterman or whatever while real human people enjoy Tom because of the *music* and also because he was the only musician to just sing through an old police bullhorn and still manage to sound incredible.
So so true, Tom waits is a king among kings
Beautiful homage between great men !
Chuck Norris WAITS for Tom.
No man waits for tom😅
I love anyone who loves anyone who loves someone who loves Tom Waits. “Wasted and wounded…ain’t what the moon did. God, what I’ve paid for, now.”
Tom Waits is where I go when I need to make sense of nonsense.
He’s like a hammock for your soul.. ropey, strong, substantive and absent. I finally get to use this word…indefatigable.
This is beautiful. To see Jordan glowing about Tom Waits whom is one of my most favorite humans on earth❤❤❤❤
And Peterson is one of the worst.
No other artist paints images in my head like Tom Waits does, that man is art in motion
Tom Waits is a national treasure. So is Peterson. And Theo, for that matter
Road to peace 🙏🕊️
I believe this may be the most giddy I've ever seen JP. I love that JP loves TW. That would be a conversation for the ages.
If Theo Von listened to Tom Waits he would explode
Saw Tom perform at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles a million years ago. After 20 minutes of PA problems, he walked to the mike and said "The beatings will continue until morale improves." One of a kind.
I agree w/ JP that my first listen of a new TW album can be frustrating…then after a few more listens I’m singing the songs in the shower!
Yeah Tom waits is great
I love Tom Waits as well 😁
Rare Jordan peterson W
Who knew JP was a fan?!
Of course he is though
First time Jordan Peterson and I agree. Thanks Tom waits!
How did I miss this clip? Tommy the Cat is the greatest
Tom Waits is the bomb.
This is correct.
Good to know that JP is fan, who would've thought!
Tom is a very special character not just entertaining but very thought provoking too a bit dark though.
I love Tom Waits, too.
This statement is true for me as well in the later days. I had to listen to a Tom Waits album about five or so times before it settled on me. Same with Los Lobos Kiko album.
I always warm to anyone who likes Tom Waits. Barry Manilow, Monty Don and Simon Schama are also fans.
I just liked Jordan Peterson about 10 times more!!!
It's so fun watching Letterman get flustered.
Tom Waits isn't "tough" nor has he ever pretended to be, and Peterson somehow completely misinterpreted the dynamic between Waits and Letterman. Dave respected Tom because he's a unique character with a sharp wit, but he was never "intimidated" by him, in fact if you watch their earliest interviews it was the other way around.
Lol nobody said he pretended to be tough, he doesn't have to. He was tough. He can be creative and sensitive, and everything else, but he's also a tough person and you can see it in the way he interacts.
Letterman absolutely was intimidated by him for a while until they got comfortable, at least that's how I read it and I've come to have some significant trust in my capacity to read things (maybe you have the same, and fair enough, but that's what I see).
I feel like jp means to say gritty?
Peterson has usual telling the truth
Jordan is like the furthest a person could possibly be from Tom Waits.
That is a pretty reductive take. They are definitely different but both men are incredibly tough and have a genius level intellect. They just chose to go about life in a different way.
that's exactly what I thought.
@@sjjr8787 Lol, what, "both men are incredibly tough and have a genius level intellect", like, what? What the hell has Jordan Peterson ever contributed? 1 half-descent half-academic book in the 90s only to end up as a right-wing populist and a conservative crypto-theologian self-help guru? I mean, like, what are you even sayin man? I literally don't understand!? Jordan Peterson and Tom Wait's ARE the complete anti-thesis's of each other!
@@solarisocean I would argue people like you would fit the description of Tom's opposite way more than anyone like JP would. Although since I am not a conformist sheep I still wouldn't make such a reductive statement. Tom is about waking people up from compulsive monotony and conformity, not to become idiots who only see one side of the prism. Jordan and Tom have way more in common than you do with Tom. Jordan has daved millions of lives and improved tens of millions.. as has Tom. What have you done? There are two types of Tom's fans, hedonistic pigs who actually believe they understand Tom and seek only chaos and pleasure... and those who actually understand the nuance. Tom is about understanding reality as best he can, not just getting blitzed out on hedonism and lack of structure.
@sjjr8787 lol, sure mate, u got me! Ppl like me, jeez, am I right!? And your ad hominem as well as your use of "reductive" does not at all reveal your intellectual ability to interpret these guys, no sir, definitely not. But I get it, u like both of them, so forcing a broad generic (which still manages to misrepresent and describe these guys incorrectly, I mean how is that even possible) (oh, wait, i know, because they are in fact radically different - so u have two options: go even more broad and generic to the point of complete lack of substance, or even more incorrect descriptions of them) interpretation onto these guys is important for you to solve the cognitive dissonance when listening to Tom Wais while also liking/admiring JBP, a conundrum I do not envy or wish upon anyone. So I do get u, I feel the pain, I understand the need for strong defence and aggressiveness towards me. I understand u, I'm here for u, I am your rorschach, let it all out!
That's exactly how I feel about Tom waits and his new material
I'm surprised to see JP acting like a real human here
Tom Waits would hate Jordan Peterson though
Absolutely.
It's not like he's dead
Ok?
Why?
...why?
I could'nt agree more. ❤
Well said Dr. Peterson.
tom waits x jordan peterson lesss gooooooooo
Dood! Just when I thought Jordan couldn’t get any cooler. Tom waits is the Goat!
Jordan in his before time.
Listen to Tom Waits. Ignore Jordan Peterson.
As if I needed another reason to love JP, he's a fellow Tom Waits fan!
Little cup of poison. Good to know doc Peterson is cool
I love Tom Waits too, wow so many similarities between JP and me
You guys would be best friends
Astronomically rare Peterson W
Same
It’s true. Waits is an agent of imagination.
Waits is the best
I think Tom Waits is so similar to Theo Von. I hope Theo has listened to him because he is amazing and I think he will love him.
Funny when tom waits brings a 1800 rat catcher he dought on ebay its great youtube it.. alsi HUGE RUMOR health legger got hos voice to play The joker from Tom Waits HANG ON ST CHRISTOPHER my favorite Tom Waits song

Tom waits would hate Jordan or anyone like him
Why?
@@immanuelcunt7296because he'd sniff out Jordan for the con artist/cult leader that he is in a second
@@alext2566 Lol I don't think you understand how cults work. What cult says "repair your relationship with your family, get involved with your local community, take maximal responsibility for your ethical actions, and develop competence where you can"?
Cults say virtually the opposite, because they want you dependent on the leader.
Con artist? What's the con? "Better yourself each day, using cognitive behavioural techniques that are scientifically proven to work and are standard for any therapist, etc". What's the con?
this guy dont even deserve to listen to waits
Waits
It's hilarious how half of Jordan's opinions are great and then the other half are christian bullsh*t
I love Tom Waits because he inhabits and embodies personas with immense skill.
This guy loves him because he’s tough…
Jordan Peterson trying to be hip.
if JP likes Tom Waits, JPee doesn't understand Tom Waits.
Peterson is basically everything Waits stands against.
Not really, Tom's greatest loathing is against stupidity, monotony, and living in brain dead zombified conformity. Jordan is neither stupid nor conforming, he stands against the establishment like Tom does... he just does it in a different way.
@sjjr8787 lol, keep fighting 💪 ❤️ u got this! Remember, u are definitely right about this, and it has nothing to do with your personal insecurities, no sir, not at all, so u just keep doubling down on this one! If u start to doubt yourself, just go and watch JBP crying over some pseudo-intellectual point, and you'll be inspired to keep defending this little castle of yours ❤️
@@solarisocean we've both got this... 👍🏽😁
No sense in fighting with anything or anyone unless your well being is at stake, and it isn't. I'm simply observing and stating what I can see, prefect aware of my limited sight. I haven't followed JP's media for a while, I believe I have gotten the gist of him enough, all his new content is pretty repetitive and he tends to have a limited sense of reality. Nothing in this existence is "secure", but no reason to worry about it. Lastly, I will forever doubt myself because that is the only sane way to live. Only a fool is sure of themselves. Have a beautiful day though.. 🙂
@@sjjr8787 he stands against stupidity, monotony and mindless conformity. he stands directly against peterson.
@@ytgshlung you literally just described Peterson. Please educate yourself.. Tom and Jordan are both sides of the same coin.
Tom Waits should get the Kennedy Center Honors
Tom would fucking hate Jordan
I don’t think Tom likes you though Jordan
I seem to have the same taste in music and literature as Jordan Peterson, but I can't stand Peterson's own work.
“I love Tom Waits”
Guys, I would like to resign from being a Tom Waits fan-
tom wouldn't like you jordan
You don't know that.
@@michaelelliott3209 yeah, we do. Tom Waits isn't overtly political but he certainly doesn't have much time for obfuscatory right wing religious neoliberal nonsense. He's a man who cares about outsiders, the downtrodden; a man who h*ates f*ascism, and includes amongst his many loves the likes of Bukowski, Harper Lee, Burroughs, The Pogues, Frank Zappa, etc; whose father taught him Woody Guthrie songs, and who includes ‘Deportee’ by Woody Guthrie and 'Strange Fruit' by Billie Holiday among his all time favourite songs; a man who once included the comedy album 'Rant in E Minor' by Bill Hicks'("like a reverend waving a gun around") among his top 20 favourite albums... etc... So yeah, I think it's fairly safe to assume that Tom Waits would see straight through Peterson and likely not be particularly impressed by what he sees.
I love tom waits.
Wow. A take from Jordan Peterson I can actually vibe with. What a day.
I thought I couldn't love Peterson more, well, that was until he started gushing over my all time favorite artist.
