The old hardware is lacking components to make it compatible for the new firmware and editors. Etc… is understandable. Hopefully the people that owns the old units also get some kind of update with features that can be added from the new firmware.
I'm considering buying one but didn't know there was "old" hardware. Do I need to watch out for "old" stock at my local music store? If so, how can I tell if its new hardware, did the model number change?
Thank you Headrush, you did everything right! Finally, I have the option to edit my Headrush Prime with my laptop or tablet. It works fantastically in real time and, unlike comparable products, I don't need any special software. Other manufacturers could take a leaf out of their book. The sounds of the new Superclone amplifiers are also sensational and offer great dynamics. I've had the Headrush Prime for a year now and I love the device. In combination with the 12" Headrush speaker box, I'm perfectly equipped for all occasions such as rehearsals, studios or on stage. And don't forget: Headrush Prime offers at least as much as products from other manufacturers at a much lower price. Here you can see that the device was developed by musicians for musicians. Thumbs up!
No update for the MX5! Thanks, I was just about to buy one. Good to know that Headrush abandons its products that are just four years old! Looks like a win for Line 6!
sad as well being a owner of a Gigboard, but as a company owner, it's difficult to avert funds to older products, esp when your developing new products which is crazy expensive (in my experience) , but am hopeful they loop back and send some upgrades to us "legacy' users
I was using an original Pedalboard and upgraded to this a week ago. The original was a great board and the Prime takes it to the next level. For those upset about the lack of support for the older units consider trading in some gear. The exchange value you get on the first Gen headrush stuff is good, my shop gave me $500 for the old Pedalboard. Considering I bought it refurbished from Sweetwater 2 years ago for $650 I'm pretty happy. The old unit is still fantastic, but if you need/want the Prime, Core, or Flex, consider trading in some gear. I traded the OG Pedalboard and a SY-300 (the Prime does about 80% of what this pedal did) for the Prime. No money spent, no regrets.
To the HEADRUSH community.. .We need more clones (both super clones or regular clones) available, particularly of REAL tube amps (not sims/models). There are limited options out there (including paid variants) in comparison to QC and Kemper. Please share all of your clones... paid or otherwise. Thank you
Headrush is killing it, enjoying all the upgrades from the pedalboard. Any chance we get flanger and chorus pedal cloning in the future? Do it right and it would make Headrush the reigning king!
I literally had the MX5 for 2 weeks. Then the Flex Prime was announced. Realized that the MX5 wasn't being supported anymore so I returned it got a Tonex 🤣
@algorithm007ify there's a couple reasons. one the tonex has been out for a few years already and ik media is still making improvements by coming out with updates whereas with the MX-5 you can tell from the forums that they stopped supporting it a over a year ago. The last thing I want to do is buy something that they're not really going to support in a couple years. The other thing is the issues I had with the MX-5 still have not been addressed in this newer version. It just feels more like a copy paste scenario with added effects and amp sounds.
Id like to tear one apart and see if the touch screen has any expansion I/O for HDMI. If it does then you could actually network the display out to a larger touch pad or screen with HDMI compatibility. Thats all they need to do they dont even need to create new software. Just port the screen out via HDMI and Whallah remote editor!! Im into FPV remote control stuff and I have to do this stuff all the time. Ive told them to get the OEM to sell just the touch screen with a mini HDMI port that support touch screeen displays. I think anyone with an MX5 that wanted that wouldnt mind paying 50 or 60 bucks to upgrade the screen. The other option is; if they are the same internally then all they have to do is sell the controller and it will instantly upgrade the MX5 to the Flex Prime.
What I want to verify is if there are enough free good quality clones in the Headrush cloud and if it's an active community where there are enough users sharing their clones and superclones before buying the flex prime or core. Or maybe going for the Hotone Ampero II or go crazy and get the Quad Cortex. Is the software Revalver Cloner also included free when you buy a core? Is Revalver 5 included in any of the units? Thank you in advance.
@@gabrielnegreira2493 Yet the Flex can be used with a USB? :) There are no problems for them to make an update supporting the old products with a USB-mode. They just don't care about the old units anymore.
@@gabrielnegreira2493 from their first video they made the interface for computor working voth trough wifi and via a USB transfer in case you didn't have any way to connect to wifi (or of you didn't want to hotspot a wifi signal). So it shouldn't be any problems for them to solve it. Us OG headrush users have asked for this feature for years but the only good thing they've done was replacing the once with ROD when something went wrong in the manufacturing of the headrush pedalbords.
@@TheKronnoz Literally not how that works. To do network over USB, you'd still need Ethernet-over-USB capable hardware - which is a pretty weird thing to include if you didn't design the device firmware to be Ethernet-capable from the outset. In fact, it's pretty likely they're using a USB-B standard that doesn't allow for much in terms of realtime editing, full-stop, if they didn't think they'd want a desktop editor for the unit in future - so it'd be importing and exporting rigs all the time, and I'm willing to bet you'd complain about that workflow.

Roughly around the time when you accept that: - the Pedalboard is 7 years old, - the MX5 is literally a Pedalboard in a smaller box, - 7 years is actually a pretty good run for this kind of tech to keep getting updated, - Hardware moves on eventually, and that means either staying happy with a "static" product or moving on to the newer hardware. For reference, the previous generation of Line 6 product (The HD500X) had an update cycle of 5 years (from 2010 to 2015). That's about as long as the Gigboard, and *shorter* than the Pedalboard - the latter of which should, again, be your measuring point.
Having some bug issues on my update. Makes weird sounds when using clones or super clones. Put a ticket in and haven’t heard anything back. Part of a Headrush forum on Facebook and many other users are having similar issues. Will this be fixed soon? Headrush Prime user.
