Another way to use overlays is the mix feature- there’s green screen, black screen and white screen. But I think the multi layer way you showed was more efficient 😩👍

If you want to do a smoother blur since vsp tracking blur is shit, make your edit then export without tracking blur then import the video in a new project (or just merge all the scenes) and click transform and click VS motion blur. Add basic settings 2-5 times. It’s really smooth.
There is also a free way to use overlays if you use the “mix” option and use the one called overlay! :)

Tip for all the people who don’t have vsp like me: use capcut for your overlays

omg can you make a video on how like you made like some of the smooth effects/transitions from 3:10 . because I always depends on distortion to do like the smooth types of effects but they don’t come out as smooth as yours
