A plastic beer bottle is thrown on stage and Les stops mid song to complain. Given, the person shouldn't have thrown it but come on Les, IT'S JUST ROCK N ROLL!!
The only douches in this video are the guy who threw a beer bottle on stage, and the guy who posted the video for thinking that throwing objects at bands while they are playing is "just rock n roll"
The Douche here is the guy who upload the video, Les Claypool is a man of 51 years old who deserves respect on his job, most of his complaints that i see is from stupid people throwing bottles at stage or Flipping Off Mr. Claypool, i think people forgot a value named Respect.
Agree. The douchebag throwing the water bottle shouldn’t go to concerts. It’s a music event not a kindergarden, and that sort of behaviour has no place at a concert. No wonder musicians react to dickheads. Total respect for Les Claypool, imo he should have kicked the douchebag out of there.
See, I would title this video: "Les Claypool Wisely Protects His Collection of Priceless Bass Guitars From Senseless Attack By Random Drunk Guy." Yes. That'd do. That'd do nicely.
Yeah fuck that clown and fuck the guy who titled this video he's probably the one who threw the bottle les is just doing what any normal person would do if it were me and I knew who did it I'd flying elbow drop that guy from the stage
How is that douchey. The only time Les has ever gotten mad is when someone does something uncalled for,and still is pretty calm and doesn't go totally Axl rose on them.Geez,I would've done worse. Plus he's just worried about his and his band mates safety.
You cant change dumb. Toss their dumb asses out every time. Buying the ticket doesnt mean you get to throw shit at the stage. I dont get peoples wiring
I saw Primus in Detroit a bunch of years back and some idiot threw a cassette tape an hit Les in the hand as he was playing. Boom. Show's over. I don't blame Les at all for taking the stance that if you throw something on stage, he's gonna call you out, and if you hit him, he's done for the night. Some people just don't have any respect for the music.
You don't blame Les for ending the show for hundreds of other people that paid to see him, because one person threw a tape? Sorry. A professional does not do that.
for real, it's one thing to accidentally step and unplug a cord at a local show but there's people that legitimately just vandalize the band's equipment and think they're cool. If I see someone do that shit I'm kicking their asses, clowns like that shouldn't be allowed at shows
I was also at this show. First, he ended up playing a full set anyway, so the point is kinda moot, as it wasn't like the show was completely derailed. Second, he even went back to replay American Life in it's entirety. So really, he is a good person for completing a show (lots of artists have less integrity and would have just left) and we ended up with extra music.
I was at this show too. I do remember that they did finish the song later on. I was right in front of Les and I caught the drum stick after they played Jerry was a race car driver
@@turq1824 Also another thing to note is that Carl Thompson doesn’t make basses anymore, so he can’t get a new one if it gets ruined. A shame really, I wish he still made basses
Les tends to get shit thrown at him while he is playing. Like he said in another video, "I don't come down to McDonalds and throw shit at you while you're flippin' burgers."
Personally I dont think it matters what genre, band, singer, etc. Is playing, once they're on that stage, it's their stage, no one has the right to throw stuff at the players, les had every right to stop playing
People need to learn respect, throwing anything on stage while people are playing there instruments is very disrespectful, and obviously, u don’t know how to play an instrument if u say”it’s just rock n roll” no,it’s not,it’s timing, hits all the right notes, having to be focused that entire song, and throwing shit on stage is going to distract them, and cause them to mess up,les isn’t being a douche, he’s actually being quite calm considering the situation
If someone throws something at you on stage, there's no way for you to know who did it and thus no way for you to stop it from happening again. Stop the song, though? The next time someone thinks about throwing something and the people around them will put a stop to it real quick. Les is brilliant. Awesome crowd management.
Respect the artist. Envision yourself doing your job, doing it well, when all of a sudden you get pegged with a bear bottle. You'd be pissed too! I'm with Les.
Drunken ignorance. I have no problem with anyone using drugs or alcohol if they want, yet every time i go to a concert there are always belligerent drunk bastards who try to ruin the show for everyone. No matter what you're on,if you cant compose yourself enough to have respect for the performers and the people around you, then you have no right being in public.
Yeah, why not? Because, like "Mr. Tough Guy" sais in his video description: "IT'S JUST ROCK N ROLL!!" But I guess that's only the case as long as he isn't the one getting his ass kicked.
that is not a plastic bottle it's glass, and i've met musicians who have been hit by bottles on stage, its really common, and if you let one person get away with it it can become really dangerous as more fan's think it's okay to do it
I saw them at Roseland 3 days ago and he did the same thing. Someone threw a bottle at him and he bitched him out, hes not being a douche, he just doesnt take shit from no one.
It's just Rock N Roll? This has nothing to do with Rock N Roll. This has to do with the fact that someone is trying to perform, to give you the best, and some guy in the crowd doesn't give a shit. These three guys put their heart and soul in every performance. Why would you even go to that concert if you're gonna throw stuff at the artists?
why do they even let ppl have glass bottles there? I am used to there only being plastic cups allowed. bc those glass bottles can cause quite a bit of damage when the hit a head or smth.
Anyone who goes to see Les should know that he has no tolerance for people throwing shit on stage. He's EARNED the right to be arrogant and expects respect from his fans. Those instruments hold great sentimental value to him. We should realize what an honor it is that he plays for us and show the man the respect he deserves!!
I'm sorry, I'm pretty new to Primus' music. But can someone tell me what the name of this song is? By the way, I think Les handled this well. I mean, he didn't ask the band to stop nor did he threaten to cancel the show.
I was at this show, the LC Pavillion in Columbus, Ohio in 2010, the first tour they did in 6 years. The audience wasn't pissed at Les, they were all pissed at the guy for interrupting Les with a beer bottle after not seeing Primus for 6 years and myself especially since it was the first time I saw them. I hope the bottle guy got chased out of the venue because he sure didn't deserve staying after that. Not to mention, "rock and roll" isn't an excuse to ruin everyone else's good time or does it make the band a punching bag. No one would tour at that point.
My question is, how does Primus even remotely seem like the kind of band that wants shit thrown at them? I'll admit saying that some acts love it when the crowd gets rowdy and throw shit everywhere, but they're usually asking for it in the first place. Primus just doesn't give off that vibe at all.
You have to think of what the world would be like if everyone acted in the same way. If every concert goer threw beer, then performers wouldn't tour. If every performer stopped performing every time someone threw beer, people would probably stop throwing things. In this case, Les is more.
Idk I’ve been to many shows in my time and never once thought it would make my experience better, more fun, or more memorable by doing anything but listening and cheering and trying to catch stick and picks. Never thrown anything never spit nothing. I don’t think it’s Douchey to call out someone for throwing shit.
Silverheest i'm with you, i'm also a musician and i have to agree with you. i mean when your performing your equipment isn't just electronics and gadgets there your life and as much of a part of the band as you are so someone throwing a beer bottle at it is like throwing a bottle at your friend. And thumbs up to Les for sticking up against the douche who threw it.
I don't know I think that it's kind of dumb for him to completely stop playing an entire song that everybody else wants to listen to to "punish" the person who threw the bottle like I have seen Primus and I love their music but I also don't think it's fair to every single other person who paid for a ticket to not hear a song just because of one asshat
Getting hit by a thrown glass bottle could be deadly for the person being hit. Douche that threw that bottle should be arrested for assualt if that bottle had hit Les or someone else.
Hmm the average person would be pissed if a beer bottle was thrown at them let alone near their multi-thousand dollar bass (empty or not). It amazes me that people don't get it. If he did not address one bottle, then other bottles would be thrown. It's called mob mentality. Good for Les for not tolerating shenanigans! I was there too & very pissed that anything was thrown. It's called respect & when you lack respect for a band, they don't want to play in your town! It's not a GG Allin show!
