I'll be 28 at the end of this year, and a big thing I wish I could go back in time and hammer into my younger self *personally*?? Some things you just have to learn the hard way, and that's not something that applies only to you. I went through my first semester of college after taking a gap year off after high school, family shit went sideways, and I decided I needed to be there for people who 1. didn't give a shit about me, 2. have never been there for me in even remotely the same way, and 3. didn't care about what I was saying no to so I could say yes to them. I moved in with my ex and basically ran away from home to get out of there, almost five years went by before I went back to school and I regret it more than anything else. I took care of everyone BUT myself, and the people who gained everything from that are people I don't even talk to anymore, and haven't for years now. It's okay to look out for yourself, even if it means you gotta stop looking out for someone else. That time is gonna pass anyway, I learned a lot, I'm more prepared now than I was before, but shit, man. If it hurts to hold onto, let it go.
