Tengri is a treasure. That style of singing is physically demanding. At age 58, he sounds as great, and maybe better, as he did 25 years ago. You’re right-this show demonstrated how much great music there is in the world that a lot of us knew nothing about. Great reaction. Thanks.

Tengri is the writer of the song "heaven", and we can feel the deep emotion from his performance this time, coming out after years of semi-retirement when his only daughter passed away at age of 6. The deep emotion of sadness also reflects the fact his "heaven", or his home, the Mongolian grassland along with it traditional culture, is no longer the same. The last lyrics in the song in Mongolian, "顺其自然“ in Chinese, which is hard to translate 100%, roughly means "let the nature takes its course", also in my opinion reflects the deepest helpless.

Tengri is 58 years old well known singer in China. He is Mongol from inner Mongolia of China. He wrote this song in 1997 to express how much he miss and love his home town. His daughter passed away at a very young age due to illness so this song is for her as well. In the beginning there was traditional Mongolian throat singing. Some traditional Mongolian instrument was used in this performance like horsehead fiddle.

The reason China's peoples have so many styles, genres of music and songs is because they are composed of many diverse ethnic groups, from westernmost province of Xinjiang's Indo-european or central asian ethnicities such as Uyghur, Kazakh, Tajiks, Tatars,, Tibetans etc, Northernmost Inner Mongolia's Mongolian, Russians, etc to southernmost many ethnicities such as the Dai, Hmong, Hani etc groups. Each brings a different type of culture and music unique to theit own. China should really preserve these cultures.

the reason those audiences including hua chenyu were so excited and so emotional was that this song was so famous in China that basically every adult even child had listened to it since it was released. listening to it again like throwing back to memory of our childhood. he’s a truly treasure and respectful artist in China representing minority’s traditional (he’s from inner Mongolia )music. the live was so epic that even hua hua said the winner of that night should belong to grandpa. btw actually Hongtao, the director of Singer, had invited him to this show for a long time but he refused it and finally he decided to join the show until this season and here he was, absolutely mind blowing

the original meaning of this song was simply singing his homeland, the Mongolian plains. but it changed when Tengeri's daughter dead by cancer. the iyrics of this song include a lot of works like "home" "girl" "heaven", all of these works reminds Tengeri missing his daugther. after that the song include not only his feel to his homeland but also the missing and love to his daugther. that why the song make people cry.

Hi guys, I just watched (pronounced as )Teng-ger-er’s performance and your reaction video. I really appreciate both. He is nationally Chinese and ethnically Mongolian and grew up in Nomadic life-style with wild horses and sheep in wide pastures. During the pre-performance interview, he told of his sadness that his homeland / nature has been destroyed and defaced. And how in his own effort, he’s been growing one tree at a time. He said that this song expressed his longing for his homeland just like heaven. At the climax, he was “screaming” out his deep love for his home.
The beginning part was a type of traditional Mongolian voicing. At the end, if you listened carefully, you can hear the 2-stringed Morin Khuur/Er-Hu make neighing sounds of horses.
I really love this type of ethnic music. I love that as non-Chinese, you guys appreciated the uniqueness, professionalism and difficulty of this performance. Cute that you guys were stunned into silence.

Could you guys do a video of 姚贝娜(Bella Yao)? She is such a great singer and a perfect celebrity. I just couldn't help crying every time when I was listening to her 《鱼》(A fish in the tank). Her voice was so touching and sad,as if the grim of death was standing behind her and was ready to take her away at any time. And after 2 mouths struggling with cancer, she finally passed away in Jan 16, 2015 at the year of 33. And 《鱼》 became her last performance in her entire life. Before Bella lost her consciousness, she signed to donate her cornea, which has so far helped 4 strangers to see the world again.
It has to be pointed out that I recommand Bella not because of her story, but for her voice only.In my opinion, she is among the best singers at her age all over the world at that time. You might think it’s about his hometown, but it’s actually a song for his daughter who passed away at 6 years old. When you know this and listen again, it will make you cry over and over again...

Like your reaction! There are a lot of special good singers in China. Tengri comes from Inner Mongolia. He himself composed this song. It is full of the traditional elements of Inner Mongolia, including instruments, the way he sang, and the beginning special sound which is made by a tradition way called “Hu Mi”.

His daughter died of illness. The whole song contains his thoughts, love, and pain for his daughter. He didn't want to participate in the program, but he came. If you know that, listen to the song carefully, feel his heart, and the soul and feelings conveyed through the voice. How can I not be moved? I cried and listened.

Tenggri wrote this song to mourn the death of his daughter at a young age, but also the loss of the environment in Inner Mongolia ... The only host who was crying, is because he is Mongolian ... This song is the thought and the call from a Mongolian father for his deceased daughter. Deep love and nostalgia for a loved one in heaven. It is a heartrending cry from the bottom of his heart.

    girl wait for me,
Where my heart' s at home.

he is Mongolian but also Chinese national treasure classical singer. Unique. He comes from inner Mongolia. Most traditional culture of Mongolia keeps in China. Auter Mongolia has been changed by Soviet.

    • @jasonbonne8608
      @jasonbonne8608 6 лет назад +37

Ok. I just ask you one question, could you people reject soviet writing words and write with Mongolian traditional characters? I know almost all Auter Mongolian forget their ancestor used words. They can't read their old books. Innen Mongolian still could read and write. Besides, all generations of Genghis Khan live in Chinese Innen Mongolia.

All generations of Chingis Khaan lived in Inner Mongolia? ROFLMAO. How did you know? Do you even know about your ancestors of 9 or more generations? Do you even know where are you from? Ancient china consist of 4 or more number of different countries, and do you even know which part are you from? KNOW YOUR SHIT then TALK dumbass.

Even you outer Mongolia seperate from China by Russia and Soviet. One hundred years before you people are chinese, LOL. I know in Ulaanbaatar every word are from Russia, from western. You people all be washed brain for hundred years. LOL I'm very sure most of your people can't write traditional Mogolian words. In Soviet's control it was forbbiden.

Thank you so much guys. Tengri is an Inner Mongolian singer. The instrument which was played at the beginning of the song is called Morin Khuur. Morin khuur is Mongolian traditional instrument. His some songs are very moving. He is amazing. Every time I listen to his some songs, I cry.
