Tengri is a 58 years old singer in inner Mongolia, China. He wrote the song in memory of his six-year-old daughter who was born when he was 44 but died of illness at 2010.
The environment of Tengri’s hometown is heavily polluted. The lyrics mentioned that his homeland of blue sky, green meadows and purify lake water which now no longer exist. This is a song with a deepest sadness. The heaven of the past is now gone. Every time when I heard Tengri sang the whistle part “whooooo......Whoooo....“, I want to cry. This is a soul touched performance.

Tengri has sung this song maybe millions of times(exaggerating but you know what I mean）, but each he sings it he still gives his all. Every time I hear him sing this it makes me cry. It's just soooo beautiful.
Teng Ger Er is his name, which should be three syllables as "təŋ“ ”gə“ ”ər“ when you say it. He is a singer from Inner Mongolia in China and he is a mongolian. HEAVEN is a song he wrote in 1997 when he was 37 years old, and HEAVEN refers to the grassland of his hometown in Inner Mongolia. But the show in this video happened in 2018, that was 8 years after his 6-year old daughter died of some kind of congenital disease. So i think his feelings in this singing must be different from the earlier's, which might mix the love for his hometown and his little daughter, and that's why many female listeners are deeper moved by this version than male listeners. The last sentence of this song is mongolian language which means " Just follow the will of nature and time" , but i think he must not want to. He just wants his daughter could win the disease.

ive been followinf tengger for a few years now, and its seems like you have a lot of misinformation, tengger wrote this song in 1997 and his beloved daughter passed away 8 years later, and the crying co host JiJie isnt mongolian, he is of Yi ethnic from Sichuan province, the polution in inner Mongolia is result of over mining which started around 2003 after China joined the WTO, then reached its peak at 2010.
I requested this months ago when it first came out because I knew you’d find it interesting! Glad you finally got to it even if it took 6 months lol. Even someone like Dimash has started incorporating Mongolian (Tengri’s home) singing techniques and I just love it.
If you like this style you should checkout Tan WeiWei’s performance of “Night of Ulbaanataar” from The Singer. She actually won that year if I remember correctly.

I accidentally discovered tengger after hearing him do some music for the movie called "The Banquet" I asked my Chinese friend from China and she brought me some cds back when she went home since her mom likes him. He's quite famous in China.

Yes, this "Heaven" performance was one of the highlights from "Singer 2018" , nay, one of the most memorable performances ever period, for me. The sensation of waves of goosebumps and chills running up and down my spine was intense, caused by Tengri's masterful play on dynamics and his "roars". His techniques most likely must be healthy, to be 58 years old and still have that kind of vocal quality after decades of singing.
Oh yeah "Singer 2019" is coming, I'm obviously excited. 😁 Such a professional show, with unknown high caliber artists. Well, not unknown in their country obviously. Just waiting for the world to take notice too.

There's an extremely sad story behind this song, is that Tengri's daughter died from some fatal disease when she was 7 years old. and Tengri made this song "the Paradise" to link the deep sorrow to his homeland -- the grassland Inner Mongol. You can feel that helpless power beneath his lyrics and voice strength with a deja-vu picture: standing in middle of grassland, head up to the sky, fully bless to his daughter living in paradise.
"Tian bian" which means horizon in Chinese sung by Han Lei another Inner Mongolian artist was the best performance in my opinion until the "Heaven" by Tengri. The first part of "Heaven" is his childhood's memory of the homeland, so he was sing with smile, and there is a lot of pain from the second part, because the Inner Mongolia highland has a serious desertification problem recently. It's not the homeland of his dream anymore. Tengri has donated money for plant trees for almost ten years, and a good news from NASA which said the earth is greener than last 20 years. Indian and Chinese people worked so hard to improve our environment. But there are many BEAUTIFUL voices in the Mongolian music world.
