I see you didn't take my recommendation for a Tofu 60 or KBD67 MKII (probably due to availability), but that KBD75 looks great! Nice build! I'm still loving my acrylic Tofu months later and as always, stay up!
This is amazing. I am absolutely in love with how quiet yet the subtle sound that this board makes not to mention the key caps. they almost have a gloss look to the you will have to let use know how they feel after using them for awhile.
Okay Brian, I have 3 things for you. 1. You are probably one of the only people who have done an ad placement that I have actually purchased, great recommend. 2. Here lately you have really gotten me excited for upcoming videos by teasing me with great valid information that isn’t readily out there. 3. You have some of the best information and tips and tricks in your videos that you will not see in most other tech channels. Great videos dude, still my favorite of all the tech channels (I follow 12) would love you to dive in a little more on pc hardware when you have time, although there is already plenty out there on the subject. Just love your viewpoints and presentation. GET THIS DUDE FAMOUS!
I love that you’re venturing into custom mechs right now, not many tech youtubers cover customs. It feels like I’m going on the same sort of journey as I’m waiting on my first board to arrive too (picked up the id80 off of drop) and I’ll have to learn how to lube my switches and etc as I assemble. The silent alpacas sound awesome!
I really appreciate you sharing the full cost of your build. That helps everyone understand the realistic cost of custom keyboards. I also appreciate silent keeb's and so I love what you have done here!
Been a while since last time I heard a well tuned silent build like this Awesome job (right Shift need just a little more love, but the rest is pretty good!)
What's funny is I just came back to this video of yours randomly after deep diving into the keyboard world. Bought the Drop CTRL a year ago and sat on it. Didn't think anything of the sound. Boy, how ignorant I was. I ended up buying the NK65 Entry a week ago and it's on it's way. Looking forward to that one for sure!
Glad to see that you finally took the jump into custom building, love the build and am impressed with how quiet your setup is! Keep up the great videos, loving them
I've stumbled across this world of keyboard love while researching my first mechanical keyboard (no I'm not saying what I bought, I'm now ashamed lol) but I wanted to drop a comment and just say this keyboard is absolutely amazing. The feel and sound of the keyboard is super important to me so I was stressing out while shopping online because you really just never know - but this creation of yours is absolutely amazing. Great job. You literally created functional art, I love it.
your my absolute favorite youtuber and am always surprised when I look at your subscriber count!!! you deserve so much more. keep it up i absolutely love the content.
I have the kbd75v2 aswell! Love it! I will agree about the RGB on it, its not the greatest but apart from that, putting it all together, lubbing, soldering was quite the job but was so satisfying to see it finished. Definitely a really superior typing experience to anything else ive used but of course it comes at a price.
This dude gives so much attention to detail in his videos. He warns you about volume and shares the weight in kg/lbs. Killer b-roll as well. I grew up watching Linus and his brand grew to a huge company. I know you will be there one day because you 100% care about your videos as much as he does. Keep up the good work. Thanks for caring about your content. Plus I'm a jersey boy, I'd always take the Brooklyn/Long Island accent over anything else..
your board is literally my dream board. im currently using a ducky miya with silent reds, but my dream board is a kbd75v2 with any switch thats silent and linear. great video and amazing board.
For those who are wondering, yes, the KBD75v2 is considered as "entry" in the CUSTOM mech world And yes, the CUSTOM Mechanical Keyboard hobby can be expensive and aside from money, you'll need even more patience (especially in this times) But once you get into it. Oh boy, oh boy
Been awaiting you first custom vid for a while! I got a Ducky Mecha Mini around a month ago and I already want to start buying hot swappables to test some switches for my first custom build
5:16 big love from Malaysia man. I gave a big sub. And btw, I love the way u say " You ready?". It just sounds............, I just can't describe it. Love u man, keep up the beautiful content.
I've been waiting for this video for a while, and I'm glad you've got it brother! I recently bought the Drop + Invyr Holy Panda switches, as well as the Glorious GMMK board. I have the Glorious key caps, and we both know they are absolutely sus at best. I think for the average "gamer" type of person, the GMMK and some cool key caps is more than fine. For people who are hardcore in the keeb community, I can understand why these are desirable. I looked super deep into building my own, but I just couldn't justify the $500+ price tag for what really is moderate level in the game. I came to terms with myself and confessed all I really wanted was a small form factor and a really cool appearance. Im getting in on a group buy for key caps to get there. As usual, fantastic video and I love your optimistic, professional, and authentic approach. Promise me when you hit 1M you'll still read and respond to viewer comments? Great work Brian.
Bro, I love your content. I learn some much tech knowledge from you it's unreal. My entry level Audiophile setup was easy because of your DAC/AMP reviews as well.
Oh my... That keeb sounds amazing... You know, when your back hurts and you lay down with a special position to pressure that particular area of the spine and it releases immense amount of relaxation, that how I felt when I heard it :D.
Can't wait for the novelkeys video, the hype is real man! Nice custom I'm going for a custom 75% too this year so I totally understand what you went through!
I've been waiting anxiously for this vid to come out ever since you announced it was in the making.... My god was the wait worth it. You even blew me out of the water with how ridiculously quiet silent alpacas are. With how much this vid is blowing up already, I wonder if you just started a potential outage of silent alpacas, as if alpacas weren't hard enough to get!
God every time I see one of your videos in my feed somewhere, even if I'm not interested in the content, those thumbnails just make me want to watch. The font and colour just look really satisfying haha Edit: y'know what it was worth it. That typing sound is amazing omg
By any chance will there be a restock on it? I just took a look at it after looking at other hotswap 65% keyboards and I honestly think I found the one after reading this comment 😓 its a shame its sold out right now
Even with the BIG VOLUME warnings I always manage to forget I've jacked up my audio hahaha. I'm not usually a personal fan of super silent boards - but there's an appeal here I can definitely see because it is so damn quiet. Just picked up a Durgod K320 with Cherry MX Clears - somehow this board has ended up a lot quieter than other boards I have with tactile switches despite the heavier cherry clear switches (maybe I'm wrong to have expected the increased volume?) but I'm really enjoying that aspect of it. Love the videos! Keep em comin'
sound of a keyboard depends on keyboard itself, floating key design will be more loud than "closed" case, or more roomy, hollow case will be more loud than soild case.
I literally just did it last night, but you should look into making your own cable. Can sacrifice a usb c you already have (chop usb a end; only have to solder usb a back on), sleeve with Paracord + Techflex and you’re done. It’s super easy and it was my first time soldering in 5+ years. Haven’t done it yet, but gonna cool it today, and you can obviously solder on aviator connectors if ya want. If you already have a soldering iron and heat gun (probably get away with hair dryer), you can make a cable for $10-15 that would otherwise sell for $50*
Woohoo! Custom keyboard gang!!! Sounds great Brian! I have a tofu with Tealios lubed with 205g0 and filmed! Hope you enjoy your board! (I know why south facing are better because north facing ticks against the cherry caps like the drop alt) I passed you in cost... $600.
I de-soldered a ducky one 2 mini and installed tealios in it then discovered the interference issue months later. I knew something felt weird when typing on the home row and couldn't put my finger on the issue until you mentioned the south facing. Now I've got my own kbd75 coming in and I'm not holding anything back on this build. lol Got the keycaps I've always wanted, going to lube the switches, ordered a custom cable, and also got LEDs to install in the switches this time around. Can't wait to build it. It's going to look and feel awesome.
4 solid days in on research and this has decided it for me. Looks like I'm going for a hot-swap 65% pre-built rather than custom KBD67V2 MKII. Thanks for giving your POV on hot-swap vs solder! It seems this is overlooked in lots of conversations/reviews on keyboards and kits, especially in the entry-level arena where people like me need to know whether we're missing out or not.
super educational vid, you should do a video highlighting all these points you can transfer to other silent switches/silent housing for other switches for an overall silent and great feeling experience, that's what's up!
Welcome to the club and my condolences to your wallet going forward, there's something about custom boards that is super addictive. That is one incredibly silent board, it might just be the most silent MX compatible board I've heard so far!

This one was a long time coming eh? As usual from this channel, this was an honest, objective, informative and down to earth view on the topic of custom boards (without the fan-boyish hyperbole we usually see around this subject)! Thank you!
