    Lots of moose and lots of fish💪! Everything I like in a good Algonquin video. Well done Sir👍. Wade
    BTW I had the Kathmandu Curry my last trip in the Kawartha Highlands, good stuff but needed a bit more spice.

    Unbelievable wildlife on this trip!
    I especially like the buzzing pterodactyls that seem to be attracted to your camera lol

    I only have 100 feet on my reel. Usually have only 50 to 70 feet of line out.

    Use a dips diver to get depth of lure for lake trout.

      Dipsy diver

      @AleconAdventures  3 года назад

      I'm aware of dipsy divers, I have a big trolling reel that I've considered loading up with lots of line to use with a dipsy diver. The biggest thing I like about leadcore is that it follows the exact path of the boat whereas mono tends to cut corners. Thanks for watching!

    Really enjoyed this one Alec. I'm sure it was a pain to do but your post trip narration easily made up for the missing audio. Looking forward to your next adventure!

    That’s a successful day of wildlife experiences I’d say.
    You’ve got a pretty serious rod for lakers. I’d imagine it’s pretty heavy for a portage heavy trip but seems worth the weight. Got me thinking about a set up like that now. Curious why that setup rather than something like a 3 way swivel with a bit of lead?

    • @AleconAdventures
      @AleconAdventures  Год назад

      I like the lead core because it's easier to dial in the depth I want to fish at and I know it will follow the same track as my canoe when I'm trolling. When I started I used the 3 way swivel with a bit of lead, but I find having a dedicated trolling rod easier. Thanks for checking out the videos!

    Hey Alec, Great videos. Wondering what you are catching the lake trout with. I was just there trolling around with a gold spoon and had no luck

    • @AleconAdventures
      @AleconAdventures  3 года назад

      It varies and I like to change it up frequently if I'm not getting any action. I've had lots of success with gold and silver spoons in the past. The hardest part about lake trout fishing is getting your lure down deep enough to the depth where they're holding. Many Algonquin lakes have been over fished and it takes hours of trolling for one bite. Portage a bit and fishing generally gets better.

    Hi Alec, really enjoyed this video and all of your previous work. I really look forward to whatever you’re putting out next. I’m an Algonquin nut and it’s great fun to ride along in your canoe with you so please keep them coming. Just curious, you used to have a square stick stove and now you have a round one. Why the switch and what’s your preference?

    • @AleconAdventures
      @AleconAdventures  4 года назад

      Hey Bruce good question. I still use my square stick stove, the Emberlit FireAnt in titanium but mostly for hiking. I purchased it because it was the lightest twig stove I could find and it could also be used with a Trangia spirit burner or solid fuel tabs. I bought the Bushbuddy second because I wanted a double walled stick stove for the improved burn. I use it mostly on canoe trips or in the winter because it produces more heat than my Fireant. Both are good for different uses but the Bushbuddy is probably easier to use. No assembly and a bigger fire box. Thanks for watching!

    • @brucesbackyard1280
      @brucesbackyard1280 4 года назад

      Thanks for the reply Alec, I may look into the Bushbuddy. Now that I’m in my seventies I need to weigh new equipment versus how many trips do I really have left in me. Maybe getting a few new things will inspire me to do a few extra trips! Please keep the videos coming, it’s a ton of fun for this old man to ride along with you, see the wildlife and catch a few fish. Stay well! Happy adventures!
