That’s a great history of vans you’ve had… that splitty! 😍 You could’ve screen recorded that clip on your MacBook and maybe transferred that file but, you overcome the issue well 👍🏼 You heading to the van life festival end of July?
The splitty had such history. It was a vegas casino bus originally. Transferring people from the airports to the casinos. But, it's later years were spent in New York where it was shipped over for us to get restored. We kept it as NOS as possible. Great fun... if you dont mind travelling at 50 miles an hour everywhere. Screen recorded? I'll keep that in mind the next time Apple confuse the shit out of me! I'm sure it won't be long, cheers. 😆 No, I'm afraid we're off to Spain the end of July - kids, partners and grandson in tow. Can't wait. We are hoping to get to a few in the near future though. Have to hook up for a beer.
@@CampervanHabitude wow that certainly is a great history! Enjoy your break (in the sun), absolutely, we don’t mind trying a beer or two to be sociable 😉
Great work. Did you put sound deadening on the roof or just the thermal liner? Also, did you order just the 1 box of sound deadening and 1 x 10m roll of thermal liner.. trying to work out quantities for my LWB build 👍🏻
Cheers Chris. Yes, I'm afraid we tend to over do it with the sound deadening on all our vans. But, it does act as an insulator too so, I don't think you add too much. I had to dig out the invoices to check as I forgot but, we bought direct off DoDo Mat and they worked out how much we need for a LWB Crafter (Ruth reminded me that they were very helpful when she called them) We bought three boxes at £79.99 each and two rolls of the thermo liner XPE 10m roll, £119.99 each. We have about a third of a box of sound deadening left - but, I still have a bit more to add. We also have around half a roll of XPE left. Hope that helps.
That’s super helpful. Appreciate you checking for me. We wish it was 1 box 📦 😂. Yes, Kingspan for the roof and floor is what I intend to do too, but useful to know about sound deadening and thermal lining the roof as well as the sides. Are you intending to add a vapour barrier as well? Lots of debate on that on the forums!
We literally covered the internal walls of our T6 with sound deadening and, when you tapped any panel on the outside it gave a measuring thud. We sold it to a lad who travelled from Cambridge to buy it (miles away) and said he had been looking for over twelve months. Every van he looked at sounded tinny when he tapped the panels. As such, he didn't buy as he doubted the insulation values. Therefore, it was great whilst we had it - great insulation and quiet, and it sold really quick too so, it's costly but worth it. Yes, I have added a vapour barrier. With the larger vans there is so much more chance of condensation forming, from cooking and shower etc. I think, anything I can do to minimise that helps.
Looking forward to this. All the best with the build 👍 just subscribed. Cheers 🍻
Thanks Paul. Just back off hols so, hopefully get another one out tomorrow. Appreciate the subscribe!

Sorry, when I say, 'yes', I mean yes, sound deadening and thermo liner. I will also add kingspan before I put the roof liner up.
