Ed definitely is more about whiff punishing and punishing them with spacing, which throws people off they expect to mash buttons with him in cq situations but he’s about finding those punish counters, forcing opponents into situations where they gotta pick do I block or do i mash with his strike throw mixup. Also having fireball drive rush really helps and will only improve his game as his meta develops
Crouching light kick honestly one of the better jabs for him. It’s good range, can punish stuff fairly far off block, and dr cancelable and special cancelable. See it a lot from leshar and kazunoko
Nice guide man. This character is so different and interesting. Ed is a boxer but his standing jabs and crouch jabs are kinda bad. However he excels at mid range with the flickers pokes and has great spacing control. Even though the jabs are crappy his medium buttons, s.HP, s.HP, s.HK and cr.HK are amazing buttons. He also seems struggles against close range pressure from opponents, so in a sense he really seems like a zoner. By the way, WTF Capcom decided to put his sweep on cr.HP? This thing bugs my brain This character is crazy

@@PrincipalSkinner3190 depends on wym by a while. Yesterday I spent 30 mins on training mode with him, then I went to the battle hub and got bodied by a Ryu player. I really didn't cared tho cuz I learned so much about Ed in that set. Just trying stuff out against a real player. Then I went back to training for about 5 mins to correct some things, played ranked for an hour and got to Diamond 4. Whatever u do just don't spend hours losing ur mind on training mode and without playing real ppl lol that's very inneficient.
As much as I don't like to, u have to keep your space with Ed, make the opponent irritated, throw the fireball once in a while, but not too much...u got to create traps with his normals. Add in some of the step back and step forward movement with throws as well. U really have to be tactical. I wanted him to be rush down, he is, but nit as much as I wanted
@@KAIBIL_08 oh I see. That’s not a QCF input. All you have to do is press two kick buttons while holding forward and press a punch button during the dash animation.
I think most people drive Rush after landing a medium psycho flicker punish counter. Not kill Rush. After you land a normal during drive rush you can do kill Rush uppercut, as the middle part of the combo, into qcb punch.. use OD to go into level two.
@Mike-rt2vp really? I'll try it next time I get home. I've honestly been more stuck on combo trials lol. More precisely intermediate 3 and 4. I just can't get Kill rush (forward)>Kill switch break> M. DP
Eds a terrible character. terrible jab terrible reversal situational anti airs (throughout your entire video when you were even setting Record....you were missing them. Case and point there) He can just get jailed so easily when people pressure him because his reversal is really bad and its very difficult for him to check people when they are on top of him. If hes not on the OFFENSIVE hes literally losing. He needs to be pressuring because his neutral is awful and heavily relies on DRC.

Psycho Knuckle can be DI’d pretty reliably, just a heads up. Obviously you can dash cancel it, but it is worth noting.

I understand this, but once you see how to weave in and out and pick your spots carefully, you’ll LOVE playing him

If your looking for a rush down character we have plenty.
Not sure how practical it will be but his fully charged heavy punch will go through 1 hit projectiles.
