Very informative. I was looking for videos on how to use Alexa with a Fire Stick as we are considering getting the Fire Stick for my father who cannot see well to use remote controls. But he also does not have a smart phone so if that is needed to use Alexa to control the TV, this will not help him. Also, he does not have Amazon Prime. He does not have cable TV so we thought the Fire Stick’s free channels and content would offer more choice to him, but not if he needs a smartphone.
Caroline, Did you do a video on actually connecting the Fire Stick remote to the Echo Dot?? I have a second gen remote and my Echo dot won't pair to my Fire Stick. Thanks

It wont open Tv Tapp app with voice command or Terrarium probably with voice command.Also FoxNow app didnt work for my local channel 5 fox affiliate here in New York city for some reason.There are limitations!

Watchng your video I turned on my echo and I was watching you on you tube on the fire stick...so when you said alexa this alexa that the tv started to obey your voice so I didn't have to do a thing ..... thanks....great when you can't find the remote!!!
Caroline here is my situation. I can’t afford a dance phone plan so that means my phone makes and revives calls only. I did manage to buy an IPad were I do everything. I wish one of you folks would show us older folks how to do this stuff with a IPad thanks for your time.
You have to download and install the fire tv app from the playstore. then you go into your Alexa app look under settings/music, video & books, choose TV & Video and then you will be able to pair alex echo dot with fire tv. Just make sure you are on fire tv to see the code.

just make sure your alexa app on your phone is the same account (email) as the firestick.
I just got both for Christmas today. Santa was nice to this 40 year old. Been looking for about 15 minutes if these two work together. Now I know.
