No one comes to the Father except through me.” I believe Matthew is a believer in a “higher power” but not necessarily he God of the Bible. I don’t know that he is truly a Christian. You must be born again and have a relationship with Jesus to be saved. Matthew 7:21 [21] “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” Jesus tells us on the last day some whom confess him with not truly know him. Sadly, he just did an interview and stated he "didn't know if there was a higher power or not..". Many prophets waivered in the Bible and asker questions, but in the end they new what was correct. Matthew is on his own journey and that's ok. Let God deal with him and repeat the journey of this man.

I'm so sad that people use the message (small m) and call it the Holy Bible. It's NOT God's Word!! It's man's rewritten watered down version of the Word of God. The key words, "MAN's version." If you want a real eye opening experience....start comparing the scriptures... NASB, NKJV, KJV, ESV.... and then compare the scriptures side by side with the message. You will be shocked. Well, if you truly love God's Word, you SHOULD be shocked. There is a huge difference between a translation and a rewritten version of the Holy Scriptures. Translations are done with biblical scholars who work together in finding the right words to match the Greek, Aramaic, Hebrew texts. Then there is completely rewriting it to soften the Word, distort God's correction, or completely change the context of His Word as what was done in the message and the NLT. Why not study from the Jeh Witness or Mormon's version as they did the same thing. I pray for God's Wisdom in the Body of Christ. 2 Timothy 4:3 "For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires." The scripture comes to my mind when I think of the message and pastors teaching from it.

I grew up without a Father. I would love to point out that this is less of a translation than it is a paraphrase - it even adds words and entire phrases that are not found or even existed during the time of the original authors writings. I would read this as a contemporary English commentary on the Bible and have a more reliable translation as my main source. If you are looking for a true-to-original meaning English translation, I highly recommend the English Standard Version. Grace and Peace, brothers and sisters in Christ.

I am bald and years ago at the end of 2013 until March of 2014 I suffered with a digestive issue a bowel obstruction which I had to have surgery to get it removed I had lost about 60 lbs and almost died. Out of the two choices I would take baldness to that any day!!
Honestly, I don't care if it is an actual translation, a church I attended used it, every church uses a different one, and I don't want to get hung up on that. A celebrity is speaking about Jesus. I say a celebrity because for me...they have proven to be empty vessels spouting ignorant and ugly rhetoric. Study and discernment for me. But it is called faith for a reason. I am a human being and will make mistakes in my walk but I'm not walking alone, anymore.

This is not the message of Christ, nor is it the true church. Jesus said there will be tares (weeds) among the wheat. Do your research and you’ll find that tares look strikingly similar to wheat. That’s the point. Many profess His name. But there are wolves in sheep’s clothing. Even Satan quotes scripture. Most of what we call Christianity today is a lie and not biblical. As a student of biblical languages, I can attest, that much of what McConaughey read from The Message translation does not even exist in the original Greek. The Message translation should be avoided.

Then there is completely rewriting it to soften the Word, distort God's correction, or completely change the context of His Word as what was done in the message and the NLT. I would love to point out that this is less of a translation than it is a paraphrase - it even adds words and entire phrases that are not found or even existed during the time of the original authors writings. I would read this as a contemporary English commentary on the Bible and have a more reliable translation as my main source. If you are looking for a true-to-original meaning English translation, I highly recommend the English Standard Version. Grace and Peace, brothers and sisters in Christ.

This is a terrible translation. "The Message", a paraphrase of Scripture, is loaded with Eugene Peterson's ideas about what he imagines scripture to be saying. It can be very misleading and is easily appropriated to support false claims about God. As a student of biblical languages, I can attest, that much of what McConaughey read from The Message translation does not even exist in the original Greek. The Message translation should be avoided.
