- The Mazda CX-30 is a unique entry in the small crossover segment. It has a luxury feel to it, and although it has a raised seating position like most SUV's you still sit low in the vehicle and have a sporty driving position. Is this vehicle right for you? I have had a few Mazda 3s, but I have a bad back that is getting worse, and I was having trouble getting in and out of my 2021 Mazda 3, so I got a 2022 CX-30 and I am loving it. Interior pretty much the same, much easier getting in and out and I love the ride. Just me and my Sig Other so space not a problem. Great car. 👍👍👍
Awesome. (not the back. I hear you with back pain) thanks for sharing your experiences!
@@PeterLoweOne You're welcome. I have been a Mazda 3 person since 2010. I bought a 2010 then and then a 2013 in 2013, a 2016 in 2016 and a 2019 in 2019. In 2021, my dealership was closing, so I got a 2021. Liked it but I couldn't get in and out easily. Went to a new dealership, test drove a 2.5 S Premium CX-30 and I was hooked. I see reviews where people pan the infotainment, but I love it. I can navigate, play music, etc. with my right hand without ever leaving my eyes off the road. Love the popup display too. I guess you could say I am a Mazda person through and through.
Same here. Good car, love Mazda
I currently have a Camry was thinking about making the switch for the same reason 😅
I am also in the same boat I need a car that sits up higher so I don't get hurt trying to get in and out.
I purchased a 2024 Mazda CX-5 (Premium level) after not owning a car since 2008, which was a Mazda protégé. After just 1400 miles, I realize the CX-5 was not right for me. It sat too high, and for my needs, was a bit too big. And, the trim level did not offer the 360° camera or full suite of sensors and views. Back at the dealership, I sat in a Mazda 3 hatchback, which was too low to the ground and had poor visibility. I ended up with a 2024 Mazda CX 30 turbo premium plus, with all of the bells and whistles and full cameras and sensors. It is 100% the right car for me in every way. The right size, the right amount of safety/camera equipment, and the power I need in a place where there is lots of on and off freeway driving. I absolutely love it.
That was really excellent. . Never seen anyone go to the detail. Thank you
Great review! More detailed than most and no filler.
Thanks for watching!
Great review! Im looking to buy this car so this really helped.
Was about to get the Subaru Crosstrek and by chance for some unknown reason came upon the Mazda. CX30. Have had it for two months and like it. Won't say I love it until I have had it for a year.
I love thw design. In my opinnion the back looks very sporty and the front pretty elegant
I’ve just ordered a brand new Mazda CX-30 ‘Exclusive Line’ with the Bose audio system. Can’t wait to get it in March 2025. 😊
I just bought mine. Here in Ecuador the 2024 is e-skyactive technology
Got one it's amazing car
Awesome review, we enjoyed it.
Nice review, but I think either I missed or you missed mentioning a few things.
What is the engine / HP ?
Front passenger seat - is it powered also?
Cost - what should one expect to pay for a 2023 CX-30?
Thanks!
I tend to gloss over many of the specs that can be found on the website, so I don't always mention horsepower unless it's something that really stands out in the class. I didn't check the passenger seat to see if it's powered or not. At the end of the day, no review will cover everything, but my hope is that this gives people enough information to want to come see the vehicle if they're local.
I have a 2020 Mazda CX30. It has a 4 cylinder 2.5 liter engine at 186 H. P. The newer ones have a turbo with more H.P. I think 236H.P. I think the more expensive models might have a passenger power seat. In 2020 I paid $21,000.00 roughly out the door after trade in and discounts. I have the select model. Hope this helps
@@PeterLoweOne I mean it does stand out in the class when the base engine is 191 HP while most of the class is at 150-160ish HP.
How does the Prius XLE compare to this? Both CX-30 and 2020-2022 Prius XLE (or Limited) are about the same price. So wouldn't it be better to go with the Prius since it's more gas savings there?
If you were buying a vehicle with fuel savings as a top priority, the Prius would be a better vehicle than this. If you have other priorities, like a more sporty driving experience, a level of luxury that (in my opinion) is above a current Prius, or even if you just like the interface of the screen and software on this compared to Toyota, than this may be a better choice.
@@PeterLoweOne Thanks. I am a first-time buyer and I just bought the Red 2022 CX-30 Premium for $32K out-the-door (after taxes). I do have the 7-day return on it. Since I don't have a point of reference with other cars, I am not sure how well this is handling. Driving is smooth, but I am feeling the bumps and experiencing muscle soreness. Gas at 24 mpg makes me really uncomfortable.
Car looks great. Interior (back row) is a bit cramped and it's actually a little hard to get car seats in and out of the car.
I am super confused. It looks like the Prius has more interior space and a bigger trunk. Is that true? Is there a comparison to see how wide the rear passenger door opens between the two cars (any metric to measure that?)
Always appreciate your reviews! If I may ask-if you’ve driven this and the Impreza RS, which would you prefer?
I've always had a soft spot for Subaru's. I'd have to see those two back to back... I feel like the Mazda feels like a more upscale car to me, but I'd probably score the Subaru highly on other things.
Good review. I like my 20 CX30 a lot. It IS a driver's machine. But I'm a Mazda guy. My daughter, the opposite of a gear head said "That car's fun to drive, so easy!"
That's the most comprehensive rear seat review I've ever seen! What ya do is have the wife drive so there's plenty of leg room in the back. No, it's not made for four men to be comfortable. Great for a couple of Boomers tho.
what is the trim of this one? Also, what is the name of the color of the car shown in this video?
Thank god someone from across the pond who pronounces Mazda correctly ( "a" as in apple ) and not Marrrzda . Great video
Haha! I'm from Canada. So I'm just waiting for someone to tell me that I pronounce it wrong too!
Do all trims in Canada come with remote start?
Really like this vehicle overall...however the cramped back seat room is a major issue for me. If you dont plan on having many people sit in the back then this vehicle is fine. I personally find the CX30 to be just a raised up CX3 nothing more.
The CX30 has WAY more Cargo, has alot more clearance, and has a turbo option that's pretty much sports car acceleration. It's a completely different vehicle than a CX3. The CX3 didn't even have a real center arm rest. I hate CX3s and I think CX30s are by far the most bang for the buck out of all crossover classes.
Well if you have several tall children or plan on driving people 5’11” and up then I guess you have a problem: fortunately none of this applies to me. Lol
THIS is the same platform the CX-50 was built on too.. so it must be good.
U forgot to say something about head up display.
You're right I did. I apologize.
@@PeterLoweOneBriefly mentioned at 16:50 👍.
Great review
People complaining on cx3/30 space. While me wildin with 4 passenger to a riverside using demio (mazda 2) 😂
Oh I'm not saying that it doesn't have enough space, but for the class, for the dollars that you spend, if passenger space is high on your list of wants, this car has less than many of its competitors. Buyers of this car know that, and they buy it because they have other priorities over maximum passenger space.
@@PeterLoweOne oh no your feedback is actually great. I've been eyeing this unit for a few weeks now and I just like to watch different vlogger's feedback to hype myself on saving funds. I just noticed that most are speaking on their POV and immediately complain.
It would have been helpful to see the back seat fold down and to know the length of that space.
Yup. I could cover that in a future review. No review will cover everything that everyone wants to see.
Does the CX30 come in a SEDAN, not Hatchback ?
no
Mazda 3
The cx-30 is a crossover version of a Mazda 3 but with more ground clearance
Ty for this video do you know which trim has manual shift ?
auto only
It dose not have cylinder deactivation
I have the extact same one shown here
Hi
CX-30 could have been a great car had mazda not decided to make it out of plastic. The way they did the cladding is ridiculous. I hope they change it for the next gen.
I’m driving one now as a loaner while my cx5 is in the shop. I really hated it on first impression. Mostly because I feel the controls are awkward and hard to find (they have to give a special card with paperwork showing where the garage remote controls are located. After a few days I think it has a high quality feel with handling and ride, but I don’t understand the niche for this vehicle unless you want an uglier Mazda 3. I’d go with the 3
I think 3 is uglier, love the looks of cx-30 (minus the cladding).
Screen looks odd small and out of the reach of driver.
It's not that small, and it is a little further away from the driver than in other vehicles, but that's because the entire screen can be controlled by buttons and knobs in the centre console right where your hand would rest. It's actually pretty intuitive.
I just got this as a rental because I was in a auto accident. I drive an 04 tacoma. Honestly there's nothing special about this car. The controls are poorly placed. It's just a car to get from point a to point b..
This won’t break down though.
my weight is 167, height is 5.9. I sat down in the driver’s seat and my butt (skinny!) was on the side protrusions of the side support of the seat. Who was this seat designed for, for very thin girls?((. Next - if you sit “comfortably”, the side mirror is approximately at elbow level, that is, far behind. The head almost rests on the ceiling. This is destructive. There is not enough space in the back seat even for a teenager . after a test drive I bought a cx5. Although I liked the cx30 better in appearance and characteristics. A car for a shorter than average and very thin person.
I own this car and this is also my 4th Mazda. I will also say that this is the LAST Mazda I will ever own. The build quality is absolute trash. Everything scratches way too easily. The plastic “carbon fiber like” paneling on the interior scratches up so bad. Same the clear plastic film in front of the odometer. And this is a problem in all Mazdas.
oh wow!! did not know about this... i read somewhere that underneath too, has Rust issues, Smh..
I mean if you're expecting Audi Quality in a sub40k AWD crossover that drives so well Car and Driver gives it a 9.5 out of 10 I kind of feel like your being unrealistic. Go into a Mercedes Subcompact SUV and tell me your thoughts... Spoiler... It's worse
@@anthonymele4847 for 40k, Mazda could have done a lot better. Car and Driver don’t drive Mazdas on a daily basis so there reviews are absolutely meaningless. They are giving an opinion like anyone else. It’s just like Top Car, they are BS. Mazda is weak, very weak. And I can’t wait to ditch this trash

This cx30 is $40K??
