Transmission Shift Shaft Seal Replacement | Dodge | Jeep | Chrysler | Mopar

- In this transmission shift shaft seal replacement video we show how to change the seal on your Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, or other Mopar transmission. This seal is a common leak on 46RE and similar transmissions that are found in many different vehicles. The seal will cause a leak from the drivers side of the transmission and leak red fluid in your driveway. Using the special seal remover you can replace the seal without having to take apart the transmission. There wasn't too much room on this Dodge Dakota R/T pickup truck but we managed to get the seal installed using a c clamp we rented.

I seriously appreciate this video. Was just about to rip out my transmission because I couldnt figure out where the leak was coming from and this video gives me hope I can save it.
Thank God there's someone like you making all these videos on these type trucks. It's really hard to mod them to get alot of hp out of them and still pass state inspection. I still love my 01 Durango 5.9 there's something about it. I own it for 7 years and not planning to get rid of it. I done mods like exust, intake throttle body ignition coil and I really ported the hell out of the cylinder heads but I never did the intake manifold and there's a huge difference between the ports not matching I had to slap it together to get an inspection so I can renew my registration welcome to NYC. No inspection = no registration. And that's y I never finished porting the intake. Each cylinder head took me around 12 hours to do. All that works a waste with out finishing the intake. But I'm guessing it looks like i got 40-60hp from stock with all the mods but I need more.
Thank you for your help
Really could’ve helped some people posting a part number to tool vs a useless link to their website that doesn’t have the tool.
Thought I would check the interwebs to find a way to remove that seal without removing the pan, because I sold my lift to my nephew. I can't thank you enough for this, in addition to the valuable information, I have an excellent excuse to put this nasty job off for a couple more days until I have the correct tool. Thanks a million.
Great video, I love how you show each step in progress!
Bro, very informative video, can u put a link for removal tool, web site you provided does not work. Thanks.
How good for me what ever it takes is just up the road thanks for the video brother
Great video. My 1972 A904 is leaking like a SIV at that seal. Those tools look like they make the job much easier.
where did you get the seal removal tool?
Great work around! Will be attempting it on my 1995 Wrangler.
Good call on the press...glad the C cleared the edge of the pan to connect
Thanks brother! Worked out well!
Thank you so much for posting this very very helpful
This is an awesome video!
Awesome video
Great video Thank You
I found this very informative .. as I’ve never had to do that type of seal change before on tranny .. this is why I really enjoy an like your channel so much..great explanations on how to do as your doing .. an it’s jus like us at home in our garage or driveway .. we try many different tools to achieve success an u don’t hide that u do too .. your very down to earth an not afraid to show how it goes for you ... the real deal !! Good thinking on renting that tool ..thanks sooo much for sharing with us .. 👍..P.S .. love the way u put those little phrases in like .. “ somebody went gorilla mode “.. or “beast mode “ lol too funny 😁.. even a little humour to go with the somewhat frustrating little job.. cheers bro 👍
Thanks Darren I appreciate it!!! I try to keep it real and hopefully that comes through in the videos! 💪
Very helpful
Nice work!
Thanks brother! 🤟
about to do this on a 73 challenger hopefully sooner than later. your pry bar trick will come in handy I'm sure.
Great video
Thanks Juan!
Thumbs up, Awesome!
Thanks brother! 🤟
Part numbers?
Where can I get the same tool you have? I can’t find the tool on the link you put. I bought the similar tool but it barely has threads.
Dose the seal go in flat metal side up or rubber side up? Thanks for the video.
I just tried to remove the shift shaft seal on my 2001 Dodge ram 1500 5.9 liter 4x4
The seal removal tool bites into the rubber only not the metal portion of the seal and just pulled right out without the seal. I have to drop the transmission pan anyway, do you have a video of removing the pan and popping out the seal from inside..or is it a more serious pain in the arse
Can you send me a link to find that tool need it bad
Where did you buy the tool?
Man I can’t get the tool to bite. I’ve tried using that trick with the pry bar too. It felt like it bit pretty well, I even tried to wiggle it and it didn’t come free. I proceeded to tighten the screw and the tool just breaks free without the seal… I spent an entire afternoon trying to figure this out and I can’t
I think I screwed up, pulled the retainer clip when replacing seal. What’s the next step to fix?!
Do you have a link or part number for that remover tool?
THE LINK GOES TO A SIGHT BUT I CANT FIND THE TOOL
Great video I have the same d*** oil leak on my 99 dodge durango but the Website don't exactly show you what tool you used.
hint, hint, Ryan Hogan has an M1 2bbl for sale
can not find this tool
I JUST UNSUBSCRIBED ... HE OBVIOUSLY DOESNT RESPOND TO COMMENTS
Part numbers pls!!!!!
You can buy my tool once I’m done
First option is 2d gen. Did not include new seal
Yes part numbers!
Mines going to be harder lol. I've got a 4x4
The upper one is a kickdown and the lower one is your gear selector
Yes sir! 👍
i used a flat head screwdriver to take out my seal. lmfao
