This scene is a cross between "Interview With a Vampire" 1994 and Polanski's "The Fearless Vampire Killers" from 1967. The girl dancing surrounded by vampires but only her reflection is seen in a mirror, is straight out of TFVK. In that movie (a comedy horror) Sarah Shagal was played by Polanski's future wife, Sharon Tate, later murdered by the Manson family. Sarah Shagal was kidnapped by the vampire Count Krolok. Count Krolok had a son, Herbert, who was gay, and also a vampire. IMHO "The Fearless Vampire Killers" aka "Dance of the Vampires" was the best vampire movie ever made. It was also very funny. It was never a great success in the light of what happened to Sharon Tate, subsequently, but it has since become something of a cult late night classic. One brilliant bit is when Shagal, the Jewish innkeeper, later vampire, is about to attack his servant girl. She holds out a large crucifix, and he laughs. "Oy, have you got the wrong vampire".
I wonder where that magnificent location is. The costuming, the choreography, the sensuousness, all of it is beyond beautiful. Haunting, moving...my words fail me.
Lena had always been different. With her jet-black hair, pale skin, and a wardrobe full of dark, flowing dresses, she stood out in her university’s music program. Her passion for the violin was her refuge, a world where she could lose herself in the haunting melodies that seemed to echo her soul. But as much as she loved music, she barely scraped through her final exams, graduating by the skin of her teeth. She didn’t care, though-she only wanted to play. When she was invited to join a small classical ensemble, Lena was thrilled. They had been contracted to play at an exclusive party, a masquerade in a grand, secluded mansion on the outskirts of the city. It was everything she had ever dreamed of-mysterious, elegant, and just the right amount of eerie. The night of the party, Lena dressed carefully in a long, black velvet gown, her mask an intricate lace design that concealed her face, save for her striking green eyes. She arrived at the mansion with her violin case in hand, heart pounding with excitement. The mansion was a gothic masterpiece, its spires piercing the night sky, and the moonlight casting long shadows across the stone walls. Inside, the ballroom was a sea of masked faces, swirling in the soft candlelight. The air was thick with the scent of roses and something else she couldn’t quite place-something ancient and intoxicating. The leader of the ensemble, an older man with a stern demeanor, directed the musicians to their places. Lena took her spot, her violin resting against her shoulder as she waited for the cue to begin. The first notes of the waltz filled the room, and Lena was lost in the music. As her bow danced across the strings, she began to notice something peculiar about the guests. Their movements were graceful, almost like floating so, and their eyes-those that she could see- blood red glowed faintly in the dim light, and in the fountains she could see now thick blood red liquid danced in them with a vage aroma of wine and blood. Is this a Vampire's Waltz?, a thrill ran down her spine as realization dawned on her. Lena’s heart raced, but not with fear. Instead, she felt a strange sense of elation, as if she had stepped into one of her own fantasies. The idea of vampires had always fascinated her-their elegance, their immortality, their tragic allure. And now, here she was, playing for them, a part of their world, if only for one night. As the first piece ended, the leader of the ensemble approached Lena, his expression unreadable behind his mask. He leaned in close, his voice low but firm. “Do not fear them,” he said, “They are bound by a contract, under which they cannot harm us. But let me be clear-vampires are not the romanticized beings you might imagine. They are not monsters pretending to be human; they are something else entirely, something far more malignant. They could kill you without a second thought if that contract were not in place. Do not forget that.”
